I'm pretty sure I mentioned last year that Rich reeeeally didn't want to move out of our old place at the end of his 12-month lease. And who can blame him? He's moved 6 times in the last 7 years (I've moved 5 in the last 7), but technically, we moved after 1 year and 3 months, so I guess it doesn't count?

Anyway, we're all moved out of the old place (where we shared a small 2-bedroom with a roommate) and into a small 1-bedroom! I've never gotten the chance to live alone (sadly, as it's something I wanted to do), but fortunately this is only a step removed from that. It's not the same as living alone, but it's definitely not the same as living with a roommate, even if you're pretty darn close with them.

I'm super excited for this new place as it's got tons of natural light-- something the old place didn't have. And not to mention, it's now HALF A BLOCK from the train I take to work every day. So I've cut what used to be a 12-minute walk to the train down to a 1-minute walk. It's pretty much the NYC-work-life equivalent of rolling out of bed and going to class in your pajamas. Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying Bushwick? It's pretty nice (as long as you look out for where you're stepping).

In other news, I randomly watched the new P!ATD video (This is Gospel: Piano Version) and then watched the regular version (after not having heard it since shortly after the album release) and... LOL apparently I'm TOTALLY IN THE MOOD FOR PATD RIGHT NOW. Who knew? Watching the video even made me want to read (and re-read) fic that I haven't been interested in for years now.

TBH I don't expect this feeling to last but it was nice to have it. I miss my stint in bandom; obviously online friends are too much fun for me to handle!

Watched the first minute of the BTS video for TIG which led me over to this other video by the same director, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Last thing... NYR IN THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALLLLLS! I can't believe we fucking won against the Penguins in an AWAY game 7. It feels pretty great to be a Rangers fan right now!

...And all of a sudden I'm extremely into the genderbending aspects of this fandom. The best part is that it's CANON. SO FULL OF WIN.

THIS FANART is like, the hottest thing ever, right now.

Basically I've got nothing else of interest to say, other than I'm disgustingly sick and all I want to do is go home and sleep. But also be able to read fic with my eyes closed. It saddens me that should this ever be possible, it probably will not be within my lifetime. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE ME INTO A VAMPIRE OR SOMETHING? I FEEL SO CHEATED. I WOULD BE WILLING TO KILL PEOPLE AND/OR LIVE OFF THEIR BLOOD IN ORDER TO SEE THE FUTURE, OKAY!

Anyway, my laptop is back and I've finally been able to update my iPhone with music and in honor thereof I've downloaded the Bronson and Brick soundtracks. They're SO GOOD! And the Brick soundtrack, in particular, has quite a few tracks which I'll probably be using for the playlist for my housewarming party. WE'RE HAVING ANOTHER VINTAGE HOUSEWARMING PARTY! I'M SO EXCITED! (AND OMG THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE TO INVITE EVERYONE I WANT TO.)

Oh yeah, so if you have any suggestions for music, let me know. It's 1880s-1980s this time.

And BTW, buying the Brick DVD was so worth it. The extras (while unfortunately do not include much of JGL) are really fabulous; the director really goes into detail about his ideas and visions and it's wonderful to hear about all the stuff that goes on before the movie even makes it to pre-production. I'm really fascinated by all that stuff!

It is 4:30am, and I've just caught up on the flist for the past weekend. If the last few weeks have been hectic, this past week has been simply chaotic. Moved Maryann's stuff in on Thursday. Friday, more construction was done to the house (injecting "tripolymer" foam-insulation). Saturday, got started (a bit) on cosplay costumes. BTW, if our costumes are actually finished for Otakon, I will be in a permanent state of amazement! Had to bring the sewing machine for an emergency tune-up, which worked out nicely -- only $50! And I got a new pedal ($25), which is cool 'cause now I won't burn my toes like I have been the last two years.

Sunday, worked at the store with Fay and Maryann to take down summer stock and price/start filling in fall merchandise. Sunday night, I drove over to Maryann's house to pick her and Baby up and bring them back to my house. Baby has to start getting familiar with her new home before we leave her alone over the weekend. She was prerry scared at first, but loosened up a little. And today she stayed somewhat hidden underneath my sink, but later I took a break from sewing and went downstairs and hung out with her for a little while. She was more comfortable, I think, as she kept head-butting me in the most adorable, affectionate, "I-want-to-be-patted" way.

I finished making the "dresses" today. We got pillows for the hats (took stuffing out). Angelica went to the Halloween Store at Union Square and found 3 black cowl-masks, so those are going to come in very handy.

Still left to be done:
  • zippers on dress sleeves
  • wrap pillows to make hats
  • hem skirt and add skirt hooping wire
  • sew heartless logos onto "dresses"
  • attach hats to masks
  • attach yellow eyes to masks
  • put zippers in "dress" sleeves

  • possibly buy suitcase
  • pack for otakon AND nashville

I know there's more, but I'm falling asleep as it is.

    Pics to come soon.

Can't wait to get to Otakon!!!

Friday was one weird day, as I guess most moving days often are.

Long, but entertaining, description of the day. )

Pics to come soon.

I was just talking with Maryann, and it's really all coming together. This is how our tentative plan will work out:

  1. Angelica comes over in the morning to help Liz cut out fabric/make accessories for the costumes.
  2. Maryann comes over to meet me so that we can go pick up the U-Haul cargo van (about 2 miles away from my house) by around 9:45am.
  3. Start heading toward Maryann's house by 10:15am, so that we can get there by 10:45am.
  4. Leave Maryann's house by 10:45am (via mass transit) so that we can get to the Grand Central area at 11:30am to meet with Victor (who'll have his car 4x4).
  5. Direct Victor to get back to Maryann's house.
  6. Load up Maryann's stuff.
  7. Drive over to my house.
  8. Unload stuff.

Since the next day will be the injecting-the-walls day, I'm probably going to ask Maryann, Victor and Angelica to help me and Liz move her bed away from the wall because it's a big, wooden, heavy queen-size thing that needs some serious muscle to move. ^^ Convenient how that worked out, huh?

I also just talked to Angelica who said that she thought of having a little drinking party on Friday night ~ sort of to christen Maryann's moving in and stuff (and just as an excuse to drink booze, lol). So everyone's invited, but several things of note: (1) It will be at my house in Queens. (2) There won't be that much room 'cause my room is filled with boxes from the ex-garage. (3) I don't know if I can drive anyone home, so don't count on it. Although if I can, and I'm not drunk, I will. (4) You can sleep over if you want, but it might consist of floor space or shared bed space.

Even better~! Maybe we can combine this drinking party with my Izzard-watching idea. Watching Izzard while drunk is bound to be hysterically funny! Ooooh, I can't wait~!!!

My second-to-last-day at work today. I'm happy to be going, yet I don't want it to end either ~ but only because that means there's only a week left before Otakon and I haven't started, much less finished, the costumes yet.

Also, I'm starting to get somewhat nervous because along with having to do those costumes, Maryann's moving stuff in on Thursday, possibly also actually moving in then or probably by the weekend, I guess, so that her cat, Baby, will be able to get used to the place a little before we all leave poor her alone for the weekend. =( I hope she doesn't freak out. My mom has kindly agreed to go downstairs and feed her.

But then! I won't be coming back home, which kind of sucks, even though the trip to Nashville is also kind of potentially-exciting.

Also, on Friday, the energy guy Dominic, is coming to inject the walls with insulation, so we have to move everything FOUR FEET away from the front and back walls. *arrrgh* So that means the house will be chaotic, messy... and I still haven't been able to set my room to rights from when we cleaned out the garage, so I have a number of boxes all over the place and my makeshift "closet" in front of the TV.

I have to do laundry so that my work clothes are cleaned and hung up, and ready to be packed for Nashville. I also have to decide what suitcase to take ~ and do I take the Otakon stuff with me to Nashville, or do I let Liz take that stuff home and bring a smaller suitcase to Nashville instead...

Sorry, there seem to be a lot of run-on sentences, as well as open ended ones...

And, goddamit! I haven't gotten paid for July yet, and I need the damn money. ljasdlfjsiasldkjf!

They painted yesterday, so now the garage-room is all done except for the light-switch panel/cover thing. It really is kinda small, but it still isn't bad. I believe that the room on the 2nd floor that we use as a computer room is smaller than the new garage-room. I should take a tape-measure to it, shouldn't I?

Here are a few pics from the outside doorway, looking toward the door that leads to my room/the rest of the basement.

2nd Tuesday )

Next Thursday, we have tentative plans to move Maryann's furniture and boxes into her room. My last day at UNDP is on Wednesday, so I'll be off~! [livejournal.com profile] bondagepenguin has so kindly offered his services and car (coming all the way from Staten Island! -- truthfully, I never thought I'd see Victor come to Queens ~ not that that's a bad thing, just a surprise!) to help break down and transport Maryann's bed and other stuff. I'm going to try to take my car to help out, too. And I got [livejournal.com profile] koyappi to take her day off on Thursday instead of Wednesday to come help/hang out/whatever. So it sounds like it's going to be a fun time. =D

Today.

The contractor started working on the walkway today, and needs the garage cleared out for tomorrow (even though he won't start on the garage until next week!). Maryann is going to come over and help move stuff out of there later tonight.

At 6pm, I have an appointment with Russell (that ebay drop-off store guy).

Maryann wanted to open up her bank account today, so that's more of a delay (but a happy one 'cause I've been bugging her to open a bank account for a year, at least).

It's Liz's birthday today -- she and her friends went to Coney Island/Astroland! (I'm *so* jealous!) So she won't be back until a bit later also -- I think she might be meeting me/us to go home. (I can't wait to give her birthday punches~!) Angelica and I got her a paid LJ account for 18 months. (When it expires, she'll be in college -- she'll just have to renew on her own!) ^^

I just found out that Victor will be moving to Florida, possibly very soon. =( And then Maryann told me that Eric might (almost definitely?) be moving to Arizona, not sure when though.

What the hell is going on here?!

And to top it off, for the past two weeks Angelica, Maryann and I have been calling each other at the same time, every single time we call. Obviously, we should pool money and play a lotto ticket or something, because the universe is trying to tell us something. ^_~;

Weekend from Hell The insanity that was this weekend:

Friday was nice --  )

Saturday --  )

While still on the service road of the Long Island Expressway, I was driving along in the right lane (of a two-lane street, plus a lane for parked cars). As I neared the traffic light/intersection, I saw that the car ahead of me was going slowly. So I (using the left-turn signal!) switched to the left lane in order to pass him. But as we got to the middle of the intersection, he'd started to turn left! From the right lane! What a fucking idiot!!! I leaned on the horn the second I realized, and as I can't remember if I braked or not (even if I had, it wouldn't have made a difference if the other guy hadn't noticed/stopped turning left when he did), I'm really glad that he *heard* the horn and was going slowly enough to be able to brake right away. We didn't touch, but I saw in one of the mirrors that he'd only been 2-3 inches away. What a fucking asshole. I was really pissed off! Then Maryann said she thought he might have scraped us. Although I hadn't felt that, I pulled over and checked the car, but no -- we'd definitely not touched at all. *so relieved*

So, [livejournal.com profile] windsorblue -- I'm really glad you're okay, even if that dumbass hurt your car! (And I'm glad that Trowa was there to take over your vocal cords help you through it, even though I know that the Duo in the back of my head would only encourage my spitting rage if I were in the same position.)

So then we continued on to the Bronx... )

Sunday -- boring and unexciting in comparison with Friday and Saturday. Went to work at the GCS store. Watched six more episodes of Wild Striker (20-25), met Angelica and Liz at the mall for dinner, then went home and watched another two episodes (26-27).

*breathes*
osaraba: (kyou-kun)
On Sunday after work, Maryann came home with me to speak to my parents about possibly moving in with us (in the basement, with me) when her parents make the move to Albequerque in mid-August.

My parents had already decided to tear down the garage door and rebuild it into a wall with a window and a separate entrance into the basement. Now, we're just going to also make the garage into a liveable room as well. She might have to temporarily stay with me in my part of the basement, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. It also depends on exactly when they'll start the construction, and how long it's going to take. If it gets too crowded down there, it's not like I can't just sleep upstairs in the living room, or the computer room, or even in Liz's room.

And after Maryann's "interview," my parents have pretty much agreed. And although Maryann's parents are still resisting the fact that Maryann wants to, and I guess ultimately is, staying in New York... they're kind of alright with the fact that she'll be staying with me and my parents. 'Cause they know how mature and responsible I am and such. ::gag::

But this is really weird. Not bad. Just weird.

It is going to be really nice to have the separate entrance to the basement, though. ^^

She'll be paying a small amount of rent and, depending on how well any job I might get pays, I hope to pay an amount comparable with market rate. It'll realistically be less than that, but something decent, at least. My parents will really need the money, especially after borrowing for the construction work.

In addition, also dependent on how will this potential job pays, I might be interested in buying a used car. And I'm talking like, $1000 or less. Because my theory is I probably wouldn't be able to afford anything newer than 5 years old, and anything over that is going to be starting to fall apart anyway. So I might as well get something cheap, so that when it starts breaking down I wouldn't have made a big investment to begin with. Of course, not having ever bought a car before (and not really knowing too much about the inner workings of one, unfortunately, like a typical girl), I wonder if I could ask Victor or one of his friends to help me out with that. I know that they're into cars enough to know stuff about them. ^^ It's nice to have cool guy friends. =D

Okay, I have to go now, but more about my tentative plots and plans another time.
