As I'm sure several of you have experienced today -- Sean the Stampede must be insanely bored over in Nashville. He randomly texted me and as I happened to have been in Nashville on business for a week a few years ago, I told him about a bar I went to where they had amateur boxing. Wise? Maybe not.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me remember the stupid name of this bar. I've tried to look it up online but still can't find it! It certainly may have closed by now -- who knows how long bars last in Nashville?

In any case, I came across a bar that could be it -- Bar Nashville -- so I sent him the address.

At the very least -- the internets say that they offer 3 beers for the price of one on Friday nights!

Maybe that wasn't the best thing to tell him....

I'm in Nashville, TN.

Since it was already 10pm by the time I got in a cab to go to the hotel (which was a flat rate of $22, OMG!), I haven't really seen too much of it. So far it looks much like other cities that are not Manhattan. There is a McDonald's down the road from me, so if I don't find a supermarket within walking distance (or reasonable public transportation distance), I'll at least not starve. But it is definitely a last resort.

I kind of wish I had arrived earlier in the day, so that I'd have had time to settle in a little, and explore what is in the area before jumping into starting the training at 9am tomorrow morning.

The hotel -- a Holiday Inn Express -- is pretty nice, actually. I was kind of expecting something slightly... cheap, or something, like that hotel at Yaoicon 2002. But it's cool. I have a non-smoking room with a king-size bed. The guy that checked me in said, since I'd be staying there here for 5 days, he put me in a room with a fridge and microwave! Yay! And, as one might be able to deduce, there's a free internet connection in the room. It is joy. =D

The only thing is, the hotel is across from a store called 'LifeWay Christian'. )

I'm scared.

Most of the costume stuff is done. Some minor things left to do. And the hats. Those are slightly more than minor, but I find myself unable to care too much at this point. So, I guess if you see Kindom Hearts Heartless mushrooms going around with what looks like colored pillows on their heads, that's us.

These are some really good images of what we're supposed to look like:
Rare Truffle (Liz)
White Mushroom (me)
Black Fungus (Angelica)
Original (Maryann)

I'm probably going to be up really late tonight, and we're leaving around 7am from my house tomorrow.

And yes, I'm babbling again.

*sigh* I really don't want to pack for both Otakon and Nashville. T_T;

My second-to-last-day at work today. I'm happy to be going, yet I don't want it to end either ~ but only because that means there's only a week left before Otakon and I haven't started, much less finished, the costumes yet.

Also, I'm starting to get somewhat nervous because along with having to do those costumes, Maryann's moving stuff in on Thursday, possibly also actually moving in then or probably by the weekend, I guess, so that her cat, Baby, will be able to get used to the place a little before we all leave poor her alone for the weekend. =( I hope she doesn't freak out. My mom has kindly agreed to go downstairs and feed her.

But then! I won't be coming back home, which kind of sucks, even though the trip to Nashville is also kind of potentially-exciting.

Also, on Friday, the energy guy Dominic, is coming to inject the walls with insulation, so we have to move everything FOUR FEET away from the front and back walls. *arrrgh* So that means the house will be chaotic, messy... and I still haven't been able to set my room to rights from when we cleaned out the garage, so I have a number of boxes all over the place and my makeshift "closet" in front of the TV.

I have to do laundry so that my work clothes are cleaned and hung up, and ready to be packed for Nashville. I also have to decide what suitcase to take ~ and do I take the Otakon stuff with me to Nashville, or do I let Liz take that stuff home and bring a smaller suitcase to Nashville instead...

Sorry, there seem to be a lot of run-on sentences, as well as open ended ones...

And, goddamit! I haven't gotten paid for July yet, and I need the damn money. ljasdlfjsiasldkjf!

Updateses.

I spoke with Raquel this morning and she's definitely able to come. She actually got approval for her leave request while I was on the phone with her. She doesn't have the money for the flight costs right now, so I said I could lend it to her and she could pay me back. $250 isn't that much when you know you can trust the other person to pay you back. ^^ Besides, I know where she lives. So I just booked her flight -- lucky her; she has two non-stop flights from LGA! She's going to get home earlier on Friday night than I will! =Þ

[livejournal.com profile] bishsticks, if you'd like to meet up for dinner or such, let me know ~ maybe there's a shopping center we can meet up in, or whatever ~ so I can take that into account for renting a car. =D

I forgot to mention that I dropped my camera late last week (that day that I took a pic of my green shoes). At first it would... stutter, for lack of a better word, whenever the optical zoom extended or retracted. Since last night, however, the LCD screen won't turn on at all and it keeps clicking like a broken record after extending most of the way. So, I've been trying to get Liz to call or visit a camera repair shop for the past several days to get an estimate on the cost of repairing it. She's going to take it somewhere today for a free estimate.

Otherwise, I've already bought a new camera on ebay. There were only three Sony cameras (I really like Sony cameras) that fit my requirements of size/comfort/gadgetry/cost. I ended up getting the W5 -- I think the only difference between the W5 and the one Angelica has (which is the W1, I think) is that it has 32mb internal memory, but you know, I don't know how much of a good thing that is -- I wouldn't be able to take that 32mb memory "card" out of the camera to put it in another one, etc. =( On the other hand, it still takes the Memory Stick™ instead of the Memory Stick Duo™ (heehee, Duo), so I can use my current memory card with it. I really like the T33, except for the size of it (a bit too tall), the fact that it has no finger rest (so I'm sure to drop it), it doesn't have selectable focus (which is really weird), and that you have to use Memory Stick PRO Duo™ in order to record with audio. (What a weird camera.) And! The T33 has a lithium-ion battery, I believe, which although very nice, cannot be replaced with emergency AA batteries! So yeah.

Success!

Raquel called me earlier to say that she'd most likely be able to come to Nashville with me for a few days! She's planning on flying in on Wednesday and leaving Friday. I hope she's coming down in the daytime on Wednesday, so that I can hang out with her on Wed night! I'm so happy that she's going~! I mean, I realize this is advantageous for her too because she's saving some money on hotel costs, but still. ^^ It is somewhat short notice, so I'm glad.

(Anyone else that wants to go, don't let this stop you -- it's a king size bed, after all. There's still plenty of room.)

And now, for some more pics of my almost-completed house project. By now, you know about the whole click-for-full-size thing, right?

Thursday )

Friday )

Saturday, they did a little more work inside (not anything really visible) and painted the left side of wall of the garage-room overhang/porch support.

Sunday )

The room is smaller than I thought it would be (than it was, really, because they have to put insulation which takes up a couple of inches on each wall and the ceiling), but it's still a liveable space for one person. And it's not like she's going to be locked away in there -- the door between our rooms will probably be open most of the time. ^^ (It's really weird that this is happening. I'm not sure if my sense of unreality about it all is really coming through.)

Friday night was cool -- Angelica's birthday, we went to my house, then Uno's, then to play pool. I really love playing pool with friends, but Angelica and I have to make a date to go play pool together sometime 'cause I get so aggravated having to wait my turn. Besides, there's more of a tension between two people 'cause there's a bit more competition going on. ^^ It was me, Liz, Will, Maryann, Raquel, and of course, Angelica. It was pretty cool that Raquel was able to come and hang out. We all had a really nice time.

I was able to update everyone (who didn't already know, namely Will and Raquel) on my new job and training at Nashville. I was also able to ask Raquel in person about coming to Nashville with me. She said she actually might come for a few days 'cause there's a law school down there that she wanted to visit, but she wasn't sure if it's really in Nashville, or if she was misremembering. So it would be really awesome if she actually does!

Saturday -- woke up around noon? The construction guys continued to work on the garage/room. They "painted" the outside of the garage -- the part that frames the new facade, and "holds up" the porch. It's a nice dark grey to match the other greys in the walkway and steps. Went shopping for a new entry door for the house. Doors are fricking expensive! What the hell?! Didn't do much else.

Oh, wait. I did! I watched more episodes of Wild Striker (up to 33, I believe), which is pretty entertaining now. I'm enjoying it very much, although it will never be as awesome as Whistle!, which I've been getting strong urges to watch over. Heh heh. Maybe I can convince Liz to watch it, then I can watch some episodes over while she's watching. =D

Sunday -- went to work at GCS. Barely any business, but I got quite a bit of pricing done. You know, it really bugs me that the record-keeping has almost completely gone to shit while I've been gone. It's really not difficult and it doesn't exactly take up a huge amount of time. I swear, I don't know how Fay managed to own a successful store for over 20 years if this is how she runs her business. It's really ridiculous, I'm surprised the IRS hasn't audited her and found wild inconsistencies. x_x; And how does it NOT piss her and/or Yvette off?! It's their business! Don't they care if their own records are correct or not?! alsjfklsjfs! I suspect it will be a freaking pleasure (in regards to this sort of thing anyway) to work for Russell, a former accountant.
