But hey look, this is what happened tonight (Patrick was actualfax this close. *_____* http://lockerz.com/s/156835692), and it was the best possible follow-up to fun times earlier today!
I took video of my two favorites, Everybody Wants Somebody and Run Dry (X Heart X Fingers), plus his impromptu cover of Steve Goodman's The City of New Orleans! I'm currently uploading them to my youtube and linking from my tumblr, so check back in a few hours!
After the show I actually got to ask him "...so what's next?" and he started answering like, this was the last stop on the tour, there's nothing else scheduled, etc., but I said, "no, no, I mean, what's your next style of music?" I had wanted to explain that I was referencing this interview he'd given where he implied he wanted to do all different styles -- the one where he says he did the R&B album first because doing it when you're older is kind of creepy -- but there was a long line and although Patrick would've stopped to chat with everyone, the security was rushing us all through pretty quickly. But then he went and tweeted this a little later and I can't help but think that it was in response to my question (though tbf probably other fans asked it too?). I'm going to just go on believing it was all me.
merelyn got a quick photo for me, though, and I'm really quite pleased at how it turned out! =DDD

Hey, did I ever post about the P!ATD M&G I got to go to at the Philly show? ALSKDJFALSJFLSAJFLSAJ I'll post about that next (even though it's been almost two weeks now).

WHAT IS ACTUALLY MY LIFE?
Sep. 19th, 2011 02:21 amI've had an insanely busy week in Indonesia. Liz and I landed in Jakarta on Saturday night local time and spent two days there with family. Then:
- flew out to Bali (with my cousin Ade and her friend/coworker who were on business) for three days wherein we stayed at a beach resort hotel and did SO MUCH EATING. AND SHOPPING. I actually got these awesome awesome bone talons with a wing shaped carved on one side (almost exactly like this pair).
- flew back to Jakarta Thursday night, SAW A CONCERT (the famous boy band kahitna, don't even ask) then drove out to Bandung on Friday for shopping and food
- drove back on Saturday; Liz flew back to NYC
- flew out super early on Sunday morning to Kalimantan (with Ade's friend/coworker for more business)
It's Monday now and I'm sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for Yantri to finish up her business. Our flight back to Jakarta is at 6pm tonight and I'm REALLY REALLY looking forward to being able to sleep without having a specific wake up time. Especially one that's not 4am to catch a flight, or to go to the floating market before it disperses.
Here are a few photosets of some highlights:
- Bali resort hotel
- traditional market in Bali
- driving and traffic in Indonesia
- Banjarmasin Floating Market in Kalimantan
( In more detail.... )
And last (for now), but not least... and weirder than I can possibly express... I... didn't realize this at all until about an hour ago, but... Panic! At the Disco is playing Big Wave Festival in Jakarta tomorrow. And... I'll be in Jakarta tomorrow... so, I'm going to try to get tickets.
HOW FUCKING WEIRD IS MY LIFE?!
Like
asolarfever said on twitter, I'll be able to say I've seen them in two countries! (Even if it'll be ridiculously weird that those two countries are THE US and INDONESIA. O_O
This totally beats the (probably unpopular) awkwardness I feel about the news of Bden & Sarah's engagement. =/

Feel free to ask any questions you want about Indonesia; I'm sort of keeping things (relatively) brief in this post, but I don't mind expounding furthur on anything you're interested in. =D

Concerts are really the best thing ever.
Sep. 2nd, 2011 11:15 amI always end up meeting the coolest people waiting on line, or even just next to me in the crowd, etc. And somehow I'm not shy about starting up a conversation with strangers at a concert like I am pretty much EVERYWHERE ELSE.
starsparkle333 suggested that it's because we're all there for the same reason/same interest, but I'm still super shy about chatting up strangers even at CONS, with fangirls, ffs!
...and did I mention how many lovely, lovely fellow bandom fangirls I met and chatted and squeed with yesterday? ILU GUYS! <333
In any case, some guy ordered too much pizza and offered my group the extra slices (which was awesome because other than a jamba juice at 2pm, that would be all I would eat until 11pm). And then I made two friends waiting in line. One SKYDIVES as like, a serious hobby -- like, she goes every weekend or something and packs her own chute and dives alone (not tandem) and she's like, I COULD TEACH YOU HOW TO PACK, YOU CAN COME DIVE WITH ME (in Michigan). We were sort of going on about how awesome it is and basically the other girls with us looked at us like we're nuts. If I'm in/near SF again I'm going to Lodi and diving again for $100, no matter what.
The other friend I made took this photo that's making the rounds; she's a pretty big fan of Panic and bandom-related bands like TAI and Empires and such; we bonded over previous concert experiences and also claiming our spots in the third row when we were let in, making a much-needed beer run even though the crowd was already ridiculous, and being surrounded by 15-year old girls. UGH. While I'll make an exception for a few Panic shows, I'd really rather stick to metal shows in the future.
The Black Cards were cute -- because PETE WENTZ IS TINY AND ADORABLE AND HAS THE CUTEST SMILE (second only to Spencer Smith's). But I'm not a huge fan of his music and it seems I never will be. Neon Trees were... good? The crowd was actually the rowdiest for them? Or, it seemed that way because I'd gotten to the barrier by the time Panic played and so I didn't have to fight for ground so much anymore. The singer is sort of fascinating to watch, but I'm just not a fan of their music. He does remind me a lot of a former coworker of mine, which amuses me to no end.
Then Panic came out and the first time Brendon ran over to our side, I thiiiiiink he may possibly have recognized me because of my glasses?! He complimented them on Wednesday when I MET HIM AND ZACK IN CENTRAL PARK. And then I got into this conversation with Zack about whether my glasses were Not Real a la the Matrix. =DDDDDDDD
As concerts go, Panic's show really isn't my idea of a good concert. I think there are just too many 15-year old girls for me to be able to get into it... also the lack of, you know, hard rock/metal sound... but I've pretty much started thinking of concerts as paying to see canon performed live. And that works for me. =D
Seeing Panic partially cover Personal Jesus also works for me.
In celebration of Spencer's birthday today, Brendon dedicated Always to him because -- in Brendon's own words -- "he's a sexy bastard". Spencer ran out in front of the stage to, you know, be serenaded and open his arms to Brendon's metaphorical embrace. The whole thing was sweet, including when the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to Spencer and Brendon was amused and happy about it, and just. There was really just so much happy there. SO MANY SPENCER SMILES. I wish I'd been able to capture them all but Spencer is just too far away for my lack of zoom. =(
AND THEN PETE WENTZ JOINED THEM ON STAGE TO PLAY IWSNT AND IT WAS BEYOND ADORABLE TO SEE DALLON SHOWING PETE THE PROPER FINGERING WHEN PETE DIDN'T KNOW IT.
Yes, I said proper fingering.
But my favorite part (besides all of Spencer's parts... and maybe also a few of Pete Wentz's parts -- oh yeah, did I mention I got to touch his hipbone one of the times he dove into the crowd?), was seeing Brendon's spazzy dancing. I love it to death. <3333

When things begin to fall into place.
Aug. 18th, 2011 01:26 amAhahah, after the first half of this year where I was pretty much posting every single day without fail (except weekends), now would be the time for me to sort of... disappear. Right after adding new friends on a friending meme and everything! /fail I've sort of been hanging around twitter much more than eljay in the past few weeks, so don't hesitate to say hi over there (@osaraba), if you're around!
RL mini-update: I am still currently between jobs though luckily I am getting unemployment (so I'm not freaking out about how I'll pay rent), and I've done a thing here and there for some extra cash. STILL LOOKING though.
So many happy things have happened lately! Joe & Morgan's baby was born and I AM SO HAPPY FOR THEM! The roller derby triple-header at the Aviator center in Brooklyn was funnnnn (all my teams won) and I got to see
cathybites whom I haven't seen in forever~! I had a WONDERFUL lunch with some friends (who are all former coworkers)!
I'm pretty much set to get those tats done on the weekend of 8/27-28, so I'm getting more and more excited about that as it comes up. Nicole (the tattoo artist) isn't coming to NYC, but I'll be going to Philly instead and probably staying over at her place on Saturday night and then leaving Sunday. It'll be just like when I got my birds tats.
Have I mentioned how I've been sort of obsessed with knuckle tats lately? I definitely can't get them because of the fields in which I've generally worked (admin), but I've sorrrrrrt of considered getting some in white ink. It's still a very tentative idea, but I've been trying to think of what word(s) I might want to get. What would YOU get, if you were to get knuckle tats? Or what word(s) have you admired on others' knuckle tats?
Anyway, to top it all off-- MY EARS ARE NOW AT 2-GAUGE (6.5mm)!!!
Hee! I wasn't even trying or paying attention to stretching right now anyway, but I noticed in the bathroom mirror tonight that my lobes looked like they were actually being weighed down by my jewelry, and realized that there was actually a bit of space between the jewelry and the lobe... so I tried my 2-gauge taper et voila! It fit through so smoothly in my right lobe and with just a bit of stretch in my left. But I'm totally unprepared for this and actually have no 2ga jewelry at all! I'm going to try and stop in at Unimax tomorrow to pick up some cheap 2ga CBRs or plugs or something, but I'm going to be looking for something pretty in 2ga which means I may be posting pics of earrings again, ahahaha.

I want to go skydiving again.

Aug. 10th, 2011 03:49 amSo, in case you didn't see me spamming the rest of my social networks with Flux Pavillion updates, the show was awesome and I danced for ever! 1. There was a MOSH PIT. At a dubstep show. This is total win. 2. I was so soaked through with (my own and others') sweat that it looked like I got caught in a rain shower; my hair was plastered to my head. 3. Pot. People shared. I took a toke here and there and didn't have to pay and it was perfect. 4. I slapped some hot girl's ass. With permission, of course. <3 5. DIRTY BASS. THERE WAS SO MUCH OF IT. FUCK YES. I'm always disappointed when I go to a dubstep party and the DJs aren't spinning stuff with lots of dirty or wobbly bass. IT IS SO MY THING.
Can I just go to a different concert every week? That's not greedy, right?
So I will be getting inked again a week and a half from now. Yeah, no, I kind of can't really afford it. But I've been planning to get these tats done for months now, and even at that point it was getting to be an urgent feeling. I've only lasted this long because I had a date to look forward to. LAKJSDLFJASLFJLSAJFL;AJ GUYS, I WANT THESE TATS SO BAD I COULD CRY. RIGHT NOW.
This is for MY WOLFPACK (ILU GUYS). And also just because SPENCER FUCKING SMITH.

Jul. 17th, 2011 12:45 pmThe last two days have been unexpectedly AWESOME! Let's see why:
FRIDAY NIGHT
hockeysaurus was visiting NYC and WE GOT A SUPER SEKRIT TOUR OF THE NHL OFFICES! Basically it was just too awesome to describe in words.
( Here, have a few pics instead. )
SATURDAY AFTERNOON I bought a new laptop. Ahahaha. My old one is 5 years old and really should be lasting a bit longer than that but it's doing this thing where it's REALLY SLOW for like an hour and thereafter runs normally for 5 minutes broken up with 2 minutes of lag. It doesn't seem like a virus and it's actually not an overheating thing either; my mom thinks its the heads. Whatevs, time to get a new one before I can't even turn it on anymore. At least I had time to backup the new data/etc.
So this new laptop is TEENY TINY. Well, for a laptop. Toshiba Portege, 3 lbs, 13.3" widescreen. My old one was a 14" so I know I'm going to be adjusting to the reduction in screen size but I decided the super light weight was worth it. It's kind of the perfect middle ground between a laptop and a netbook. I'm sad it's a single core processor but I'm pretty sure I don't run many big memory-consuming programs simultaneously.
SATURDAY NIGHT was Choley's going away party; she's leaving NYC for medical school in DC. SAD. The only reason I'm not more heartbroken is because DC is relatively quick and easy to get to from here, so I plan to visit her as often as I possibly can.
I was unexpectedly plastered last night and also had an unexpectedly good time!
Things of note:
- Wingo (my new favorite ex-bartender from Whiskey Brooklyn) showed up for a brief moment and bought a couple of us a round of whiskey.
- Leaving Ace Bar, I TRIPPED OVER A HOMELESS PERSON. I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE OKAY.
- Also, I felt pretty bad (read: horrified) about it.
- Drunk tweeting.
- OMG I don't even remember tweeting this.
- My drunken ranting about netspeak to Judy while waiting in line at Pommes Frittes at 3:45am. JSYK they close at 4!

SO, THIS HAPPENED TONIGHT.
Jul. 1st, 2011 06:20 amWHILE I WAS FUCKING ASLEEP, GODDAMMIT. What's funny is that Brendon's tweet actually woke me up.... but I thought either I was dreaming or that he clearly didn't mean what I thought he meant and I went back to sleep. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
( ....so then I thought maybe I should put those HALF-NAKED!BRENDON URIE pics behind a cut.... )
ALL I'M SAYING IS THAT MY EXPECTATIONS FOR THE CENTRAL PARK SHOW IN SEPTEMBER ARE HIGHER THAN EVER BEFORE OKAY.
ETA: I don't think there's actually any way I could possibly love Spencer Smith more (NSFW).
...well. Maybe if he got some tattoos.

Mar. 17th, 2011 11:30 amWhy is Bradley James on twitter now? (I'm not sure I should thank

AND WHY IS HE SO FUCKING ADORABLE?! WHYYYYYYYYYY?!

godfuckingdammit, people!
Nov. 15th, 2010 02:04 pmAll of the most amazing fic right now are WIPs. WHY ARE THEY SO FUCKING GOOD AND WHY ARE THEY UNFINISHED?!?!!! WHYYYYYYYYY. *sobs* I'm tracking all these like a mofo, but in case you don't have a paid account, you can get updates on several of these by following @inceptionwips, a twitter account created by some smarty-pants anon to whom we shall be forever grateful!!!
And on the subject of fics that explore asexuality: I have a thing for them I never before knew I had? With the proviso that I'm talking about well-written fic in general, here, I think I have a kink for this particular topic because whether or not there's any actual sex involved, it's more about understanding and communication than anything else. I suppose it necessarily includes some of that delicious Victorian UST... and angst because it's one-sided... but there's still a real connection. Anyway, here are two by the wonderful
acidpop25, who writes it so amazingly well:
ETA: I know that
blue_soaring wrote an awesome asexual!Holmes/Watson, but I've got to go find it...
gyzym's Hollywood AU (
at 10k+ words in part 1/?now complete, 2 parts, ~21k words)- Anon's prompt fill that sounded like a PWP but became EPICLY AWESOME CASEFIC (at
626671/?)skellerbvvt's utterly ridiculous and delightful dating!fic featuring a too-cute=for-words dachshund puppy named Cigar! <3 (at
5867now complete at 70 parts)analogized's asdlkfjasldjkfsaldkfj dom!Arthur/Eames light-BDSM fic which is so full of hnnnngh I cannot possibly be more coherent about it. (at 16/?)
cobweb_diamond's drunk commentfic that turned into awesome h/c jungle!fic, but like, with hints of military background and secondary, original characters and other awesomeness? (Because I'm normally really not a big fan of h/c fic...) (at
203137/?)- **
cobweb_diamond's kissing!meme fill that's a Time Traveler's Wife AU (at 3/?)
- **Anon's prompt fill for clinically-depressed!Arthur (at 11/?)
whiskyrunner's prompt fill for asexual!Arthur (
at 13now complete in 4k words)bauble's epic organized crime AU (at 1/3)
- Anon's absolutely spectacular newspaper AU! (at 6/?)
** I have little to no expectation that these particular starred fics will actually be finished, but THEY'RE STILL FUCKING WORTH READING! The other fics are regularly updated or by people who generally finish fics.

- Leading with my heart (Arthur/Eames)
- Cold (Theodore/Blaise) -- I should explain that this one is a... it's a... it's a Harry Potter fic. One of the two HP fic I ever felt the urge to read, and of course this one is two minor characters I had to call several people to ask so I had even an inkling of who/what they were before just diving into the fic anyway. This is one of the most romantic, angsty, sad, beautiful fic I've ever read -- and to bring it right around, it's so full of understanding that I-- I can't even articulate? Just read it. <3
ETA: I know that

Sep. 30th, 2010 03:08 pmAs I said on twitter earlier today:
I told Liz that maybe I shouldn't have tweeted with so much porn in there but w/e, it's not like anyone who doesn't actually know me would be surprised. I said people might be more surprised at the Victorian romance part of it. To which she said "victorian romance = porn" and I said that it's repressed porn but hot nonetheless and we both kind of HEEEEE'd over it. =D
Just finished reading Pride & Prejudice for the first time ever. It was wonderful; the dialogue was hilarious and Elizabeth Bennett's conversation with Mr. Darcy at the end is simply wonderful. Everything that I expected from the BBC TV miniseries with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle from the mid-90s. I blame the start of my Anglophilia on that TV series. My poor 14-year-old heart couldn't take it and buckled under the strain of Mr. Darcy's oh-so-British reserve (and never mind the accent)!
I borrowed Juliet's DVDs and am looking extremely forward to watching them tonight.
In addition, I can't wait to see Brick again; I'm awaiting the arrival of the DVD. Damn media mail; takes too long and it's not trackable. =(
current obsessions: mind-heist, porn, neo-noir, porn, and victorian romance. and hockey. and porn. WHAT IS MY BRAIN?

Apr. 11th, 2010 10:13 amFUCKING WEIRD DREAMS AGAIN.
Started out with... (Liz is going to DIE laughing right now...) Brandon Prust. I dreamt that Prusty joined Twitter... AND eljay. I know I tweeted something to him -- and he @replied to me! Also, in the spirit of keeping my dreams realistic, someone else I know on Twitter, who is slightly stalkery (we all know who I'm talking about, yes?) ALSO tweeted at him and received @replies.
In the meantime, my conversation with Prusty (which sometimes seemed to be on Twitter and sometimes was on LJ) turned into a dirty flirty type of thing... and either he ended up doing really nice, um, Bad Things to me, or he was describing them in the conversation and I was imagining them. Hard to tell the difference as it was all in my head anyway.
I think at this point I woke up a little, because I thought, Ooooh, why am I dreaming about Prust? Wait, this was a good dream, LET ME GO BACK TO IT. And I did. But I could never quite see my conversation with Prust so clearly anymore. I do know that both my and the other stalkery-girl's conversation with him continued, but I couldn't read the words anymore. SADNESS. Still, he was replying to a LOT of people and I wondered how he had so much time to have Twitter/LJ conversations with people.
Then my dream took a weird turn and suddenly I was an employee of a Best Buy-type store, but smaller. We were there early for a staff meeting, but the staff leader or whatever wasn't there yet, so the bunch of us were kind of just milling around. On one of the counters there was a necklace with a very heavy pendant -- kind of in the shape of a large diamond, maybe approximately 1.5-2" across on top. It was covered with a rubber film. I took it and put it on and promptly forgot about it.
We were eventually asked to sit down (there were chairs set up at 3 or 4 8-foot tables) and there was a projector with a power point presentation at the front of the room. And the guy running the meeting (who seemed to be a corporate rep doing like a team building exercise?) was speaking into a microphone, asking questions (completely unlike any team building exercise I can imagine). Reminiscent of school, I was busy chatting with my neighboring coworkers -- there was one from another branch, so I hadn't met her, who had a NANJO KOJI NOTEBOOK! WTF! How I all of a sudden have Zetsuai on my mind, I have NO IDEA! But of course I had to start talking with her about it. I was quite jealous because she'd read the series in the original Japanese. ;_;
This whole time I'd been kind of popping that pendant into my mouth occasionally. What can I say, okay, I have a... thing. Whatever.Oral fixation. Where I like to put things in my mouth chew on things. ANYWAY, I had this sudden realization that OMG that diamond-shaped pendant IS ACTUALLY THE OTHER MICROPHONE THEY'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR. *groan* I took it off and took the rubber film off the pendant STOP LAUGHING and then by flipping the head of the microphone over in its base, it activates the microphone.
I WAS SO EMBARRASSED! Actually, I wasn't really. I was only mildly embarrassed, and mostly didn't care too much. YAY DREAMS! Because if that had happened in real life I would have just died.
There was some more in the dream -- like, during the whole staff meeting scene, I kept kind of scene-switching to my apartment (not my real one) and looking at my blue-curtained windows from the inside (I have black curtains IRL), which were moving in the breeze and revealing a flower pot on the window sill (which I also don't have IRL). And then after a few seconds of looking at that, I'd jump back to the staff meeting scene. So yeah, I have no idea what that's all about.
Also, I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't get to talk more about Nanjo Koji with that girl. And even more disappointed I never got to continue whatever-it-was with Prust. SERIOUSLY.

Unexpectedly yesterday, a twitter friend had an extra ticket for the NYR v. TB game, and I was really excited to have the chance to go! They'd just come off the 6-2 win against the Habs, and I wasn't able to restrain my hope for another win.
Happily, the Rangers delivered. And how! We came away last night with an 8-2 win over the Lightning. It was a rare experience to see 8 goals (by 8 different Rangers, no less!) live and in-person at MSG and it's a happy coincidence that I was able to be there for it. (I'm only sad that MDZ and Avery didn't get goals. Still, Voros' first of the season, and Higgins' sixth! -- not too shabby.)
I also followed-up this happy experience by getting myself that Avery scarf I'd been meaning to get for a while. =D
In any case, I'm going to the NYR v. STL game on Thursday 3/18/10, with Liz, Juliet and Maryann. We have seats in 420 and 315... and I've got a friend who might be able to get his hands on tickets for the two seats next to us in 420. If you're interested in going with, please let me know ASAP. The tickets are approximately $40 each, but I have to secure them right away.

THREE MONTHS!
Sep. 3rd, 2009 03:17 pmMy curiosity got the better of me and I checked out
jimbutcher's website, jim-butcher.com... and discovered that the next book in the Codex Alera series, First Lord's Fury is to be released November 24, 2009! ARGH! It's both too soon and too far away! If it was like January or February, I'd think it was too far to really think about. And if it was sooner, like a month from now, I'd just be excited to read it soon.
And, OMG.
He's on twitter too.
