ghost!hagelin/dubinsky!!!!!!!!!! (what even....?)

dubi is getting fucked by a ghost he can't even see and he likes it. but then he angsts over it and says something about it being ~7 years since he'd "felt this way" (angry/hurt/scared) but he says it all angry and accusing and maybe it has something to do with not knowing who the ghost is. and hagelin says "yeah, just like last time" -- referring to the one and only other time they'd fucked, before hags died. so then I suppose Dubi figures out the ghost is hags but hags is hurt and has already disappeared. like ghosts do, I guess.

poor bbs! how did I even dream this one up?!

good to know dubi's still in character in my dreams tho. douche.

also, there was soooo much oral in this dream. so much.

maybe I've been inspired by looking through all the SINTE prompt pics!!!

The last two days have been unexpectedly AWESOME! Let's see why:

FRIDAY NIGHT [livejournal.com profile] hockeysaurus was visiting NYC and WE GOT A SUPER SEKRIT TOUR OF THE NHL OFFICES! Basically it was just too awesome to describe in words.

Here, have a few pics instead. )

SATURDAY AFTERNOON I bought a new laptop. Ahahaha. My old one is 5 years old and really should be lasting a bit longer than that but it's doing this thing where it's REALLY SLOW for like an hour and thereafter runs normally for 5 minutes broken up with 2 minutes of lag. It doesn't seem like a virus and it's actually not an overheating thing either; my mom thinks its the heads. Whatevs, time to get a new one before I can't even turn it on anymore. At least I had time to backup the new data/etc.

So this new laptop is TEENY TINY. Well, for a laptop. Toshiba Portege, 3 lbs, 13.3" widescreen. My old one was a 14" so I know I'm going to be adjusting to the reduction in screen size but I decided the super light weight was worth it. It's kind of the perfect middle ground between a laptop and a netbook. I'm sad it's a single core processor but I'm pretty sure I don't run many big memory-consuming programs simultaneously.

SATURDAY NIGHT was Choley's going away party; she's leaving NYC for medical school in DC. SAD. The only reason I'm not more heartbroken is because DC is relatively quick and easy to get to from here, so I plan to visit her as often as I possibly can.

I was unexpectedly plastered last night and also had an unexpectedly good time!

Things of note:

- Wingo (my new favorite ex-bartender from Whiskey Brooklyn) showed up for a brief moment and bought a couple of us a round of whiskey.
- Leaving Ace Bar, I TRIPPED OVER A HOMELESS PERSON. I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE OKAY.
- Also, I felt pretty bad (read: horrified) about it.
- Drunk tweeting.
- OMG I don't even remember tweeting this.
- My drunken ranting about netspeak to Judy while waiting in line at Pommes Frittes at 3:45am. JSYK they close at 4!

So I used the Expedia super special deals thing and ended up with a different hotel - the Clarion Hotel & Suites Selby -- and of course it's not refundable. So, I'm sad I will not be in the same hotel as a bunch of other people, but I suppose I'll live -- it's only 1.5 miles away, so if I'm somehow hanging out at the Bond(age) Hotel, it'll be easy to get back by car or by foot.

I'm more annoyed than I sound, but really there's no use in being bothered by it.

In any case, it was pretty darn cheap so I shouldn't complain!

Now, to go book the car. Got the car! Priceline.com is pretty awesome. I AM GETTING SO EXCITED FOR THIS TRIP -- NOT THE LEAST OF WHICH IS THE ROAD TRIP PART!!!!

OH! If I do nothing else other than see The Headstones while in Toronto, I MUST go to the Hockey Hall of Fame. I'd have tried to catch a Maple Leafs game, but -- it fucking figures -- that their two home games that weekend are on the day before I get there and the day after I leave! WTF, TORONTO!

I had THE WEIRDEST dream this morning. It had a semi-post-apocalyptic feel to it. But I was in an area of a city that still retained its slightly upscale feel. The houses still had some luxuries, like an outdoor pool. But everything was overcast and the sky was weird colors. A friend and I were staying at another friend's house. Guess whose? Adam Burish. (Yeah, I have no idea either.)

So the friend (I actually have no idea who this was) and I had to buy some guns. For our own protection? Not really sure. But anyway, we were still going about this relatively legally? Kinda? I knew that Bur had a gun already so I figured he could buy more. But he was out of town, so I texted him to ask his social security number so I could send in an application for two guns. (Yes, I know this is completely ridiculous.)

Meanwhile, I went somewhere underground and brought my gun application with me and the dream changed a bit. I was now in Japan with Yoshi! We were in some underground tunnels and came across a small shop that was selling knives and lighters and stuff. But, you know, it didn't look like something illegal -- it had velvet-lined display cases behind wood and glass and everything! Totally legit except that we were in some underground tunnels. You know how these things go.

Anyway, I was looking at lighters and I asked Yoshi to ask the salesperson how much these particular lighters were. I don't know what the lighters themselves actually looked like, but they each came in a tin box with a slide top, and the part that doesn't make sense -- they had the Montreal Canadiens logo on the tin. Why would I want Habs lighters?! Yoshi asked how much they were and between the three of us we somehow negotiated a price for the two lighters. I feel like they were asking for something like £57 for the two, and we talked them down to £50. Don't ask me why the price was in £ and not ¥.

We started on our way back up through the tunnels when I realized that we hadn't gotten the guns (or submitted the gun applications with Bur's social security number) and took the opportunity to call Bur and see what he was up to; whether he'd be back soon or if I should go ahead and put the order in myself.

And then I woke up. =(

Considering I have "hockey" listed under "religious views" on my facebook, I offer up this prayer to the hockey gods:
Our patron who art in Chicago. Hockey be thy name. Thy will be done. The Cup be won. On ice, as well as in the stands. Give us this day our hockey sticks. And forgive us our penalties, as we forgive those who cross-check against us; and lead us not into elimination. But deliver us to victory. In the name of the fans, Lord Stanley, and in the name of the 'Hawks. Amen.

(edited by me, but originally taken from @hkygrl12)

Of course, I'd rather be saying this for the Rangers...

I often forget YouTube exists.

Even when someone links me to a YouTube clip, I'll forget to play click the link; I'll forget to do my own searches.

Today, though, I got completely distracted for a good, long time at work -- watching hockey vids, particularly looking for wireless mic stuff (which can by pretty darn amusing). Was it the beginning of this season or last season when MSG would mic up one of the players and air some of what they said during commercials and/or intermissions? I want to say it was last season...?

Anyway, today I played click the link and ended up reorganizing my YouTube account because I was favoriting way too many things. Many, many hockey clips. Hours and hours of entertainment. Also, I mean, I've got to have it organized so when I'm obsessing over this stuff to someone who needs to be SHOWN... well, then I have it all ready, at the click of a mouse.

Have I mentioned how much I like George Stroumboulopoulos, host of The Hour? Seems like a very cool guy. HD likes him, so how can I resist? Anyway he interviewed Avery while he was on the Dallas Stars, after the infamous Internship At VOGUE *gasp* summer scandal. I'm posting it here because I know some of my most recent converts friends who are slightly more casual fans of hockey will be very interested in it. =D

So my dream this morning wasn't anywhere near as weird as the one from yesterday.

Vokoun (Florida Panthers' goalie), nicknamed "The Vacuum" (is that actually right IRL, or did I make that up?), was singing along with Stan Rogers' song, Northwest Passage. He kept getting some of the lyrics wrong and I had to correct him; even tried to look up the lyrics to show him.

I fell asleep with music on, and one of the songs in the playlist was Northwest Passage, so it isn't difficult to figure out where this part came from. Still, I'm really not sure why I dreamt of Vokoun. I don't think I've even seen a Panthers game recently?

There was definitely more, but I can't remember it. =(

In any case, I'm in extreme obsession with this song, Northwest Passage. I just absolutely die over it every time I hear it. Okay, maybe not every time... No, never mind, it actually is every time. Stan Rogers' voice was absolutely amazing, and this song was sung a capella. It references explorers of Canadian history, in... uh... you know, seeking and eventually establishing the Northwest Passages, as well as comparing them (the explorers, that is) to a modern-day traveller/adventurer.

Ahh, it's so beautiful.

This time my dream was about Theo Fleury. No idea why since I'd finished reading his book several weeks ago.

Anyway, this one was a lot less vivid, less plot, less linear. I can only remember that he was suited up, on the ice, and so was I. I don't know what I looked like, whether I was also in gear, or just regular me, or what. But he kept skating around me and pushing me to certain spots on the ice. Like, "We're doing a faceoff, so stand here." And then, moving me to another position on the ice, "Now stand here." That kind of thing, a couple of times, or for a couple of minutes.

Yeah, that was it. I don't even think there were that many other players on the ice. Just one or two in the background.

I don't claim to know what goes on in my own mind while I'm sleeping. All I know is that it's fascinating.
osaraba: (nyr leetch)
Since the NJD vs TB game earlier tonight was postponed (due to lighting problems at the Prudential Center), MSG has been playing old episodes of Rangers in 60.

I got to watch two games from the '94 season:

3/23/94: Graves' NYR-record-breaking 50th & 51st goals of the season (against EDM), (this same night was Gretzky's record-breaking 802nd goal for LA)
5/25/94: game 6 of the NYR/NJD playoff series where Messier "called" the win, and got his first hat trick with the Rangers)

And dammit, it was pretty sweet revisiting with Leetch & Beuke, Mess & Graves -- and (Color Commentator) JD!!!

Appropriately, (as I just read past the part in Theo Fleury's Playing with Fire where he's part of the FLY line for the Rangers) the third game shown was from January 18, 2001, a game in which Fleury played well. According to JD he was, at that point, second in the league in scoring.

And JEEZUS, RICHTER WAS A FREAKING MONSTER IN THE NET! That night Leetch made the game-winning goal against TOR in the last minute of OT, securing for Richter the win that made him the winningest goalie in NYR history.

Damn, I miss them both so much. ;_;

I can barely do anything that isn't eat, breathe or sleep due South and/or is hockey-related.

Normally I'd apologize, but really, it's making me happy right now, unlike everything else, and since it isn't harming anyone, you'll all just have to deal.
osaraba: (dS fraser oh yes i see)
Yeah, it's not like you haven't been at least peripherally aware of my recent due South obsession. That's definitely part of it. I just finished watching the complete series, and then watched two dS documentaries which can be found on youtube ("Ride Forever" and "Southbound") as well as the 10-minute blooper reel. Which is pretty amazing.

spoilery thoughts )

That all was probably not as coherent as it could have been. And despite my select disappointments, I absolutely love the characters of Fraser, RayV and RayK, and am really pleased that there is such depth to work with, and to ponder.

So, I've also been reading Theo Fleury's "tell-all", Playing with Fire. It's sad (re the Graham James scandal, plus Fleury's substance abuse) but also exciting and a really fascinating glimpse into life in the NHL.

Liz and I were lucky enough to see Fleury in practice once when he was with the Rangers -- I vividly remember -- even in practice, the guy was just full of energy and stood out on the ice.

Despite Fleury's comment about Avery being a "classless bum", I can't help but associate them in my mind. Seeing Avery play when he was first traded to the Rangers was like seeing that compressed energy return.

If anyone is interested in borrowing Fleury's book (once I'm done with it), just let me know. =D

I have officially been ensnared by the due South fandom. dS is a tv show from the mid 90s, that I so very vaguely remember from when it was actually on-air. My mom used to watch it a bit, and I remember seeing parts of some episodes.

BUT OMG. An amazing fic was recommended to me and OH GOD her voice for Fraser is so perfect. I mean, I don't quite remember enough of the show to tell you how spot-on it is, but from my vague impressions of the show, and the... you know, certain standard lines that the character says -- it seems RIGHT ON. And if it isn't, IT SHOULD BE.

The above was the start to this post a week or two ago. I've been absent on LJ for a bit, mostly because not only did I fall into dS fandom, I drowned in it -- and there was no buddy-breathing to save me! (Not that I really wanted to be saved or anything.) Because jeeeeezus. This fandom is HOT.

This fandom (thanks to hockey/dS fans who write awesome AU fic) has also reminded me exactly how hot hockey is.

If there's a moment -- a tiny moment -- of unoccupied time, my brain goes back to dS and/or hockey, and suddenly I have a stupid, goofy grin on my face with a kind of blank-eyed, daydreaming stare. A few people I've seen recently are getting a little annoyed, I think, which means I've been holed in at home, reading fic and waiting for the dS DVDs to arrive. Oh yeah, the box set of the complete series that I bought on eBay. Did I forget to mention those?

Well, they arrived yesterday in the mail, so you can guess what I did last night. Watched the first 5 episodes and fell asleep on the couch for the rest of the night.

Some of the plots are cornier than others, but I can take it. The comedic interaction between Fraser and Vecchio is a lot like the type of comedy that I just die over in Supernatural. Which is greatness.

I'm sure there will be more dS-type squeeing to come.

Also, I think I'm going to see if I can afford partial season tickets for next year.

[edit: WHY are some of the BEST fic in the fandom TEN YEARS OLD? It's horribly unfair. ]

I have been super busy at work (still!) and also I have a Twitter gadget in my gmail, and since I'm on gmail all day long, I am also keeping updated on Twitter all day long. In the meantime, my LJ has suffered from my busyness.

KATSUCON! Will be in Virginia all weekend, running the booth (aka Cosclips, Katsucon's official photo booth)! If you're going to be at Katsu this year, stop by the booth and say hello! I have a feeling this con is going to be hectic and awesome. AND DRUNK. I'm driving back to NYC on Sunday -- hopefully by early evening. Luckily, I've got Monday off from work, so I get to leisurely return Jim's car to NJ and then make my way back into the city. I also don't have Japanese class that day, so I'm fucking set.

I have an excellent story to go along with this -- on Monday I called uline.com to order some supplies to be delivered to the hotel. So when I was telling the customer service rep the address of the hotel, she said, "Is this for Katsucon?" I was like "o_O! YES! We're Katsucon's official photo booth!" HAHAHA. It was AMAZINGLY AWESOME AND COINCIDENTAL AND COOL! So I told her to stop by the booth and say hi. I should have offered her a free photo or something, but didn't think of it at the time. Hopefully she'll stop by. That was just awesome and TOTALLY made my day. =D

There were other things I wanted to talk about. Dammit, why can't I think of them? Like how I got a PS3 and Judy got a 32" LCD HDTV, so now we're all tricked out and it's nice about the PS3 and all, but HOCKEY! HAHAHAHA! OH BABY!

BTW, today's XKCD is awesome.

Um, um, um... OH YEAH! I was talking to a coworker of mine whom I've been telling about cons and such. I sent her the link to Judy's flickr to show her some stuff and she asked if this chick is Sailor Moon? So I explained a little, prefacing by saying that it would sound ridiculous. And after a bit of back-and-forth, she said, "man, ever since i met you my life has gotten a lot more interesting and a lot less realistic."

DO YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME THAT WAS? =D That totally made my day! Now I'm just going around with a big smile on my face! =D

Con report and MORE STUFF on Monday, I hope.

Oh yeah, I also made pancakes for the first time on Sunday night. And now everyone's teasing me about it. WHAT! Jeez, it's not EVERYONE makes and eats pancakes all the time, people! =P

Let's see. The past few weeks I seemed to have let loose my penny-pinching ways and gone on an unprompted spending spree! (Please excuse all the aliterations, I have no idea where they've come from.) In any case, I spent several hundred dollars on costumes for me and my sister for Otakon 2002 which is still more than 6 months away! I spent $175 on a new Sony CD Walkman for myself (Liz gets to have my old Aiwa). I just spent another $60.00 on a Rangers jersey (Leetch when he was captain!). I also just spent another $50.00 on a Buck-Tick DVD when I don't even have a DVD player! But that's okay 'cause I'm going to get Tony to copy it onto VHS for me and then sell it on ebay; hopefully I'll get my money back. Also, I've yet to get my parents' gifts. My mom's gift is going to be about $15.00 (2 CDs, once I figure out what CDs I should get her, $15 from Liz, ordered from Columbia House). My father's gift is going to be around $30.00 (a $45 gift certificate to Macy's or something, $15 from Liz... my father likes to shop for clothes... kawaii, ne?). Then there's my sister's gift! I don't want to put anything in here that'd give it away, just in case she has the urge to read my LJ before we actually give the gift to her, but it's a bit expensive. ::sigh::

Not to mention I'm bidding on a rare B-T CD (Shapeless) that comes with a 96-page hardcover photo book! It's up to $42.00 right now and I'm high bidder, but there are 4 days left and who knows how much it'll go up to! And I think that I REALLY want that CD and photobook! Itai! Anyway, I hope I win. We'll see this Sunday.

So, if you have a heart, please go look at, and bid on! my auctions...

ladyreianan's auctions

Oh god, I just remembered... now I have to think of something to get for Angelica (#$@&*!) and something for Louie too! Although, I'm sure I'll find something rather easily for Louie, but Angelica, the bitch.... I wasn't prepared this year! Usually I have something for X-mas by September for her!

::slams head against desk::

Okay, I better go before my forehead gets all bloody.

Oh, and by the way, my ears HURT!!!
osaraba: (Default)
I guess it was inevitable. It took me a few years, but I finally gave in and got a cell phone. Now, (as Angelica says) I make up for the resistance by swinging to the other extreme. Today I went on ebay and was looking for some faceplates for the Nokia 5165 model. I don't want one of the solid colors that they have everywhere, so I was looking on ebay to see what they had (although I didn't start out on ebay with this purpose, but I'll get back to that later).

They have a lot of the usual, solid colors. But they also have a few with designs; some of them are really scary, like teddy bears, cats, dogs, raindrop patterns and tie-dye. Ewwww. ::shudder:: But some of them are okay, like the well-known American Flag (which I considered in light of this Attack on America thing, to show my patriotism, but I decided that I didn't want to spend $15 on something that I wouldn't have gotten in any other circumstances). I also saw a cute South Park faceplate, one that had stars and moons all over it, on a black background, and one that I really like, but don't think I'll ever get: a black & white cow pattern. LOL!

But the one that really caught my attention was a NJ Devils faceplate!!! Ooooh, do you know how much I want that one? Even if it is $20, I'd love to get it. The auction was closing in 2 minutes, at the time, so I didn't bid on it, but I know that the seller has more, so I'm not worried. One of the reasons I didn't bid on it then is because the faceplate is from the 5100 series, which has a different keypad than the 5165 phone. Which means I'd have to get a different keypad in order for the faceplate to fit. I don't really mind that much; a keypad shouldn't cost too much, if it isn't included with the faceplate. But I wanted to find out (1) if the sellers had the faceplate available in the 5165 style, or (2) if the auction included the faceplate. Actually, most of all, I wanted to find out if the sellers had a NY Rangers faceplate instead of the NJ Devils. I love the Devils, but I'm a Rangers fan first and foremost. (I know, they suck, but what can I say?) But if they don't have the NY Rangers faceplate, I'd definitely get the NJ Devils one.

(Can anyone tell that I'm a big hockey fan?)

So, I ended up sending them an email asking all these questions, and in addition, saying that if they'd sell it to me outside of ebay (not that I mind bidding on ebay, it's just a waste of time for them to put up an auction since it's a special order request), I'd also be interested in buying one of the dual battery chargers they had up for auction. That's one of those that allows you to charge a battery in your phone and an extra battery at the same time. And I have an extra battery already because my father used to have a Nokia 5120, which uses the same battery as the 5165. (This is what I had started looking for on ebay, to begin with -- the dual battery charger.)

But you know, as I was looking on ebay, I came across some vibrating batteries for auction and I think I might end up buying one of those eventually because I don't like the fact that I have to listen for a ring; I'd much rather leave it in my pocket or something and have it vibrate. (No hentai thoughts, people!) But this is all really kinda sad because then I'll have 3 batteries. o.O*

Oh! You know what else has me in (good) fits over this new phone? You can send and receive emails on the phone! LOL! I'm soooo dying over this, I didn't even know it could do this when I got it! It's so kakkoii!!!

God, I'm pathetic. Ah well.
