...would you guys be able to facilitate that?

I'm on the precipice here and all I need is a bit of a nudge. Pull me into your waiting arms, Inception fandom. I miss you bad; I want to squee like I used to, I want that rush of blood, that sensation of overwhelming ~feeling.

Do you have any epic recs for me, starting around oh, a little over a year ago?

I saw the TDK trailer last night when I went to see Spiderman and I practically swooned when I saw JGL. Yeah, you were probably thinking I was about to say T-Hard, but no, JGL totally made me think of Arthur when he says that line about Mal, to Ariadne, "She was lovely." And all of a sudden I couldn't wait for all the Inception/TDK crossover fic that I just KNOW is going to come out of this.

And then, I just started watching that show, Person of Interest and it made me think of Christopher Nolan. Ugh, I'm not even sure why! But then I started thinking about some of the recurring themes in his works, and I... I think I may have gotten myself interested in Inception fandom again, basically.

I also think that when Looper comes out I may have some intense desires for Inception/Brick/Looper crossover fic, which, ugh, I may end up writing drabbles for.

I'm going to be at San Diego Comic Con this year (for somewhere between one and four of the days, so if you're going to be there and want to grab lunch together or something let me know!), and I'm really really hoping I'll be able to go to the Looper panel. I have such a hard-on for Rian Johnson, IDEK.

The quick summary of my reaction to the Spiderman movie, btw, is: Eh. I was mostly bored/didn't feel much emotional connection to any of the characters, but the acting was darn awesome. Emma Stone stole the show, she and Andrew Garfield had amazing chemistry, and the best scene was that suuuuper adorable/awkward scene in the school hallway.
osaraba: (merlin arthur i am awesome)
THEY ARE SO CUUUUUUTE. I somehow started watching Merlin behind the scenes videos again. OH GOD. THEY ARE JUST IRRESISTIBLY CUTE. CANNOT STOP. SEND HELP. (In this case, "help" may also mean "enabling via [livejournal.com profile] minimerlin".)

Here, watch Uther being the BAMFiest BAMF who ever BAMFed. Shown to me by [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds. Seriously, Tony Head is fucking amazing. And Spuff, seriously, you need to watch Repo! the Genetic Opera!!!

OMG AND THEN THERE WERE JGL'S HIPBONES. THEY ARE SO BITABLE. SO VERY VERY BITABLE. )

my trance-like state this week )

last week's music stuff, including the many times i was full of rage and wanted to punch people )

Um. Yeah. I just started typing and this all came out.

In thoughts completely unrelated and somewhat happier-- did everyone get to see the Sergeant Slaughter, My Big Brother short film with Tom Hardy waggling his dick around? And yes, I mean that literally. He waggled it. Like eyebrows. CUTEST. THING. EVER. The video is no longer available on YouTube, of course, and at the time I thought I should save the video to my hd but I didn't do it because I had to run and now it's too late. If you have a copy, please send it my way-- there are people I need to show it to!

OLD NEWS: JGL has been confirmed as Alberto Falcone for TDKR and I will HAPPILY DEVOUR ALL THE BANE/FALCONE FANFIC (and variations thereof) EVER. Basically, GIVE ME ALL THE SERIAL KILLER FIC. ALL OF IT. I'm excited for the possibilities, but I'm also content to wait til 2012 for the explosion. As I'm barely keeping afloat as it is, juggling a million and one Inception WIPs and trying to explore Merlin fic. GDI Merlin fandom, stop being so awesome.

ETA: GIF OF WAGGLING COCK. HEE. Clearly, this is NSFW.

I'm sure this has made the rounds already, but JGL (in NOLA) signing checks from hitRECord.org to their SXSW contributors is, basically, THE SWEETEST THING EVER.

DEAR GOD, I REMEMBER THIS. WHYYYYYYY.

BY THE WAY, IT IS FROM 1991 - WHEN BOTH JGL AND I WERE 10.

Sooo.... my throat is all sorts of fucked up. You know that talking louder thing that happens when you get drunk? Well, I don't know if I was screaming or what, exactly, but I'm all squeaky and whispery when I talk. It's actually pretty hilarious as I keep forgetting and then suddenly laugh or try to say something to my roomie and it comes out silent for a second or two before my voice squeakily kicks in. SRS LOLZ PEOPLE.

Completely unrelatedly, Rian Johnson's tumblr for his new movie, Looper posted a pic of JGL, Noah Segan, and Lukas Haas!!! BRICK REUNION IN NOLA!!!! This made me all sorts of *flail* and happy because you guys may or may not know how much I love Brick!

on my tumblr:

...and now, for some AWESOME fanart (haha, not by me) )

Um, yeah. That's all I've got for now. I'm supposed to be posting my Sex Is Not the Enemy fic today, but I don't think I'll be able to until later. IT HAS BEEN GIVING ME ALL SORTS OF TROUBLE. =/

ETA: I just saw that [livejournal.com profile] paperflower86 is selling her papercuts. I made this post about 12 hours after she'd posted her sale and didn't know about it til now. AND AND AND the Arthur/Eames papercut I love hadn't been claimed. WELL IT IS NOW. IT IS CLEARLY THE UNIVERSE'S VALENTINES DAY PRESENT TO ME.

WHO IS WRITING THIS AS ARTHUR? LAJSDLFJASLDJFALSJFDSL;AJ;LJ

*SCREAM*

A;LSJDLFJASLDFJASDLJF AHAHAHAHA I HOPE SOMEONE FILLS THIS [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic PROMPT OMFG

RPF, Lady Gaga&Joseph Gordon-Levitt, she's had a crush on him ever since Angels in the Outfield and then she sees the video of him singing "Bad Romance"

And now I want to read/write something where they're in a dream and Eames forges Lady Gaga (in one of her crazier-looking personas) but Arthur is so uninterested in pop culture that he doesn't know the reference and is totally turned on and freaked out at the same time. AHAHAHAH THIS MENTAL IMAGE WILL KEEP ME ENTERTAINED FOR... at least half an hour.

In other news, this was originally going to be a post about how I really really want to write more introspective ficlets for Brick but I'm lazy. I need prompts because I have no ideas for one (because I'm lazy), and also whatever I write will definitely be a ficlet as the language thing is somewhat difficult to sustain for anything longer than 1,000 words at a time (because I'm lazy).

There you have it.

ETA: Ahahah, today's XKCD is too true.

More for the free time, friends, creativity, free time.

Oh NYU, why weren't we on the same wavelength when I was actually there?

Fall Formal is cancelled.

Of course it's not completely unexpected in light of the unfortunate and unexpected death of JGL's brother just two weeks ago.

I can't begrudge him his grief, of course. I'm so sad about all of this.

You can read JGL's message about the cancellation here.

So I generally don't seek out fanvids. I'm not quite sure why, since I do actively seek out interviews and such, so it's not like I don't know how to do a search on youtube. I just don't seem to have the level of interest as I do in fanfic.

But I do occasionally watch them and in the case of my most recent fandom obsessions, I was lucky enough to find one in each of these fandoms that I think is just SO INSANELY WELL DONE that they are kind of go-to videos whenever I want to ruminate about the characters.

HARD CORE LOGO VID )

INCEPTION VID )

OHYES. Additional fanvid recs are more than welcome!

As I said on twitter earlier today:
current obsessions: mind-heist, porn, neo-noir, porn, and victorian romance. and hockey. and porn. WHAT IS MY BRAIN?

I told Liz that maybe I shouldn't have tweeted with so much porn in there but w/e, it's not like anyone who doesn't actually know me would be surprised. I said people might be more surprised at the Victorian romance part of it. To which she said "victorian romance = porn" and I said that it's repressed porn but hot nonetheless and we both kind of HEEEEE'd over it. =D

Just finished reading Pride & Prejudice for the first time ever. It was wonderful; the dialogue was hilarious and Elizabeth Bennett's conversation with Mr. Darcy at the end is simply wonderful. Everything that I expected from the BBC TV miniseries with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle from the mid-90s. I blame the start of my Anglophilia on that TV series. My poor 14-year-old heart couldn't take it and buckled under the strain of Mr. Darcy's oh-so-British reserve (and never mind the accent)!

I borrowed Juliet's DVDs and am looking extremely forward to watching them tonight.

In addition, I can't wait to see Brick again; I'm awaiting the arrival of the DVD. Damn media mail; takes too long and it's not trackable. =(

JGL and hitRECORD.org Fall Formal!
The Town Hall
(43rd between 6th & Bway)
Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 8pm
Tickets can be purchased here.

Who's attending and/or would like to meet up before/during/after?

I've bought two tickets for myself +1 (though I don't know who's going with me just yet) and I've got (the cheap seats 'cause I'm so broke) Balcony level, Row B, seats 21 and 23. Which is slightly stage right, but I snapped up the seats because I'd prefer to be as close to the front as possible.

Please feel free to link back to this post around fandom (within LJ only). It would be nice to have a little meetup before or after!

ETA: My extra ticket hasn't been claimed by anyone yet. It's $40. If you're interested, let me know!
osaraba: (jgl suitpr0n)
So in direct contrast to my insanely obsessive and passionate love for THARRRD (see previous post), I have a slightly smaller, milder appreciation for JGL. Which is not to say I don't enjoy his varied and variable faces; his creativity and musical talent; his acting ability (which is not shoddy at all); his lovely voice (I am in full support of him going through life as a musical, constantly singing La Valse a Milles Temps through the streets of NYC, hopefully where I can hear him on my lunch hour, in a mix of French and English); his love of France (even though I am an anglophile and thus have a strong urge to dislike anything French); his silly hipster style.... but.

Well. It's actually all quite ironic and amusing (to me, at least), considering how I love Eames, but how much I lovvvvve Arthur. Which pains me to no end, NGL.

Erm, I went a bit off-topic there, actually. Oops.

I meant to talk about how I've enjoyed some of JGL's backlog but nothing really reached out and grabbed me. Mysterious Skin was interesting (and who doesn't appreciate the chance to see JGL's pert little backside and his orgasm face?), but nothing to write home about; 500 Days of Summer was supremely entertaining, lovely, and heartbreaking all in one, but not my usual type of fare; The Lookout was interesting as well (and I got to squee for a sec because JGL PLAYING HOCKEY = YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU).

But Brick I loved.

It's one of those movies where the style is different and deliberately so. It's one of those movies that you have a decided opinion of. Either way; you kind of love it or just don't get it. I can totally understand where some might watch it and be bored by it or just not be really engaged; they might think it tried too hard maybe? Or that it wasn't anything unusual. But oooh, I see it. I get it. The tone, the fast pacing of the dialogue, the give-and-take; almost as if the verbal exchanges were a dance; specific steps to be taken at specific beats and don't slow down, don't make even one misstep or it'll all be lost.

If I were a film student, I'd actually have references to make instead of feelings to go on.

There was a scene or two which some might say were overacted and a few more which some might say were underacted, but those scenes contributed to the tone; the odd, creepy, fast-yet-slow pace which just had me watching in fascination as it all unfolded.

And oddly, it was almost like Romeo + Juliet -- like period speech anachronistically thrust into modern day.

It had that quality about it. <3

AND NOW FOR THE SHALLOW: OMG JGL/BRENDAN WAS REALLY CUTE IN THIS WITH HIS WAVY/CURLY HAIR ALL IN HIS FACE AND HIS LITTLE SPECTACLES AND HIS HANDS CONSTANTLY STUFFED IN HIS JACKET POCKET WITH HIS BACK HUNCHED OVER. HE WAS JUST CONSTANTLY ADORABLE; THERE WAS NO SCENE IN WHICH HE WAS NOT ADORABLE. AND HOT. AND THE QUICKNESS OF HIS BRAIN WAS SUPER HOT. IN ADDITION, LAURA WAS HOT AND I HOPE HE GOT TO HIT THAT AND ALSO THEIR ALMOST-KISSING SCENES WERE REALLY HOT TOO.

...and as a side note, Lukas Haas was in it! (I practically lunged out of my seat when I saw him.) WTF, DO I HAVE TO START PLAYING 6-DEGREES OF INCEPTION NOW?!

(BTW, not apologizing for this one because it was actually less gratuitous than my last post.)

OMG SLEEP NOW.

ETA: Okay, yes, I'm dumb. A neo-noir film, with dialogue homage to Dashiell Hammett, author of The Maltese Falcon and The Thin Man, among others.
