my moral standing is lying down

I somehow stumbled across a fic by corilannam and then went through the rest of her Merlin fic. She writes really well, and while I think her endings are sometimes a teeny bit abrupt for my taste, they are still absolutely worth reading.

So I'm reccing her story A Tournament of All Magicks because magic-reveal fics are always entertaining, and it's quite exciting to read one where Merlin gets to participate in a tournament and be all badass and show off a bit, you know? There really aren't enough of those.

And while you're there, read Same As It Ever Was too, because it's kind of sad, and I like that kind of stuff. I kind of strongly self-identified with Merlin in this one, so maybe it was just me. Also, this particular trope is a definite standard weakness of mine, so it hit the spot in so many ways.

Anyway, I was poking around and saw this gif of a deleted scene from series 3. AND DAMMIT. I wish they'd leave scenes like that IN.



And then I check flist and see that there is a lovely I ♥ Merlin/Arthur post as well as one where ALL THE ARTHUR/MERLIN VIDS ARE BEING COLLECTED. (I know exactly what I'm doing when I get home from work today!)

My love for this show just grows in leaps and bounds from all the extras the cast and crew provide us; how awesome they all are, how into the show they are themselves; and how wonderful this fandom has been to me even though I'm still pretty much on the outskirts of it, shy/lurker that I am.


I've been really in the mood for sad stuff lately. Is it horrible of me to want a fic where Merlin is always just on the verge of revealing his magic to Arthur, but he doesn't for a long, long time? And he's always pining for Arthur, but Arthur doesn't notice? And yet Arthur completely trusts and relies on Merlin-- and makes this as obvious as day to everyone around? And then there's the magic-reveal, and some angst and recrimination, but Arthur gets over it -- but nothing else changes? And Merlin HAS SO MANY FEELINGS about how much Arthur trusts him, relies on him, cares for him, but not quite the way he wants him to, and so it makes him feel amazingly proud/etc, but it's so painful at the same time? WAIT, I JUST DESCRIBED THE SHOW. *facepalm* (Well, you know... except with the addition of extreme UST/pining/angst and magic-reveal.)

I'm FINALLY wearing those 5mm (approx 4g) wood talons I bought a million years ago! ASLDFJALSJASLFJ SO HAPPY! \o/

Aaaaaand. This lady is absolutely crazy. $700/mo for an 90-square foot "apartment" in Manhattan's CPW. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, LADY? JUST COMMUTE. I promise, you're not really missing that much by living a 40-minute train ride away. FOR THE SAME PRICE. What you gain is the ability to relax and also masturbate without bumping your knees/head/whatever into the ceiling. (Okay, so if she's Ace -- or anti-masturbation, I guess -- then maybe that's not an issue, but still-- breathing space! No panic attacks!)

Sooo.... my throat is all sorts of fucked up. You know that talking louder thing that happens when you get drunk? Well, I don't know if I was screaming or what, exactly, but I'm all squeaky and whispery when I talk. It's actually pretty hilarious as I keep forgetting and then suddenly laugh or try to say something to my roomie and it comes out silent for a second or two before my voice squeakily kicks in. SRS LOLZ PEOPLE.

Completely unrelatedly, Rian Johnson's tumblr for his new movie, Looper posted a pic of JGL, Noah Segan, and Lukas Haas!!! BRICK REUNION IN NOLA!!!! This made me all sorts of *flail* and happy because you guys may or may not know how much I love Brick!

Um, yeah. That's all I've got for now. I'm supposed to be posting my Sex Is Not the Enemy fic today, but I don't think I'll be able to until later. IT HAS BEEN GIVING ME ALL SORTS OF TROUBLE. =/

ETA: I just saw that paperflower86 is selling her papercuts. I made this post about 12 hours after she'd posted her sale and didn't know about it til now. AND AND AND the Arthur/Eames papercut I love hadn't been claimed. WELL IT IS NOW. IT IS CLEARLY THE UNIVERSE'S VALENTINES DAY PRESENT TO ME.
