As you can see I've been utterly awful in sticking to my plan to update and read LJ. I hope you all haven't given up on me though because I know from experience that it'll pick up again. <3

There have been a lot of awesome things that I've done recently and I really ought to tell you all about them-- like parasailing! and being interviewed for a (silly little) article in the AMNY! and the FUCKING NEW YORK RANGERS ADVANCING THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS! But I've got this other thing to post and I promise I'll come back and tell you all about those other things soon. =D

A few weeks ago on May 1st, [livejournal.com profile] thedreamerworld met with Benedict Cumberbatch and Steven Moffat for work-- and got them to wish me a happy birthday. She then sent me the recording via text at which time I proceeded to FREAK THE FUCK OUT (to the extreme amusement of [livejournal.com profile] honeymull, who I was having lunch with). IT WAS PRETTY AWESOME GUYS, NGL. Here's the recording:

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH & STEVEN MOFFAT WISH ME HAPPY BDAY! by sarabakari

ETA: BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH. STEVEN MOFFAT. OMFG HOW ARE THEY SOOOOOOOO ADORABLE? WAS THAT EVEN REAL LIFE?

Ahahaha, Judy and I were talking over gchat about how people think she's insane, but I reassured her that some people don't mind insanity and she agreed it must be true since I still live with her. Then I said how I think I've gotten more insane as I've gotten older (yes, Sunday was my 30th) -- but also that I care less about hiding my insanity.

Then there was a pause while I checked my flist and saw that [livejournal.com profile] onelittlesleep had posted another fic.

Then there was this explosion:

me: onelittlesleep is fucking amazing, she posts fic A LOT
and all her porn is hot and filthy and WRONG
and delicious
like arthur/igraine
OMG I LOVE HER SO MUCH

judy: hahaha, oh gosh sara
its a wonder why I still live with you
30 and completely insane

me: ahahahahah wow, i didn't even think about how insane that sounded, but yes it's clearly true

Yeah, I'm that sort of talented person who clearly exemplifies, in the next breath, those characteristics which she had just identified about herself.

Please consider the above chatlog a recommendation to read all of [livejournal.com profile] onelittlesleep's fics, btw. I cannot describe enough how much I absolutely love her writing. She's one of those people who can effortlessly include fucking hot sexytiems into seriously mood-rich, setting-rich writing. She gets dialogue and description and emotion across in a way that... you don't even need plot. They can fucking be cooking a fry-up. I can't get enough of her canon-era Merlin fic; it's replete with scents and sounds and filth and all I want is to roll around in her writing and press her words into my skin forever and ever.

My favorites?
1. The Merlin Le Fay 'verse where Merlin is Morgana's (and therefore Arthur's) younger brother;
2. The girl!Merlin/Arthur 'verse which started out as PWP but then grew a gorgeous plot in the last couple of parts;
3. The Arthur-centric, introspective Prince Regent of Camelot (complete in 2 parts).

And then just go read all the rest of her deliciously hot, filthy, delightfully wrong fic.

Also, I can't seem to stop running off at the mouth lately. At least, on LJ.

If you want to hear me talk about my weekend... )

And some more good news! My mp3 player is miraculously working again. I finally contacted Creative for a return authorization but decided to check it again before I sent it in -- this time it charged AND my laptop recognized it. I think it just didn't want to be sent away. In any case, I'm very pleased since I can now listen to music again on the train.

I didn't notice the time at all, which is, I think, the highest of compliments on New Year's Eve. This New Year's was probably the best I've had in recent memory. Got out of work early on Monday, went over to Judy's where I helped her prepare for her party. Around 6:30pm, people started to show up and it was small and casual until a little later.

I really loved the dancing, and the taking photos, and the not being very drunk as well. Exchanging Portal quotes with the guys and listening to Still Alive from Chris's mix CD was awesome! Also, hanging out with Liz and Juliet and their friends was pretty cool.

OMG KATIE IS THE LIFE OF THE DANCE FLOOR! She totally outlasted and outdanced everyone, including Mario~.

Some of the set list from the dance floor, courtesy of youtube -- which was totally my savior 'cause they had put on the Spice Girls before that. *shudders*

- My Humps / Black Eyed Peas
- Shut Up / Black Eyes Peas
- Fergalicious / Fergie
- Jiggy With It / Will Smith
- Footloose / Kenny Loggins
- Stronger / Kanye West
- The Picard Song
- Smack My Bitch Up / The Prodigy
- Come Baby Come / K7
- Baby Got Back / Sir Mix-a-lot
- Thriller / Michael Jackson
- Ladies' Night / Kool & the Gang
- Closer / NIN

A couple of people we don't see too often showed up, including Jamie -- and Jim. I'm not sure this was really Jim's type of party, but it was nice of him to show up. It was cute seeing Anna run over to meet him at the elevators. =D

It was really weird to have such different groups of friends together at Judy's, but it worked out much better than I thought. I <3 Judy's parties.

As for Katsu, I think I've pretty much had it confirmed that I won't be able to be reimbursed for a rental car, which means Judy and I have to figure out if we'd rather take the bus or shell out more for a car because of convenience. Which also depends on who else would be willing to take the ride and split the cost. Or, there's also taking Jim up on his offer to borrow his car. Which I'd be kind of nervous about because I would really hate taking the risk that I might fuck something up (accident or otherwise) and be held responsible for something that isn't my own. ...but it's so tempting because it's so much cheaper! Argh!

Anyway, I took a cab home at 4am and woke up pretty early the next morning, despite Judy's disbelief that I could, but mostly due to Maryann and AJ coming in to talk to me. ^^; We had a nice breakfast (despite the mediocre food) and met up with people for shopping in the city. FAIL! Only Book-Off and Best Buy were open. Carrie took photos of some of us under the tree at Rockefeller, and we eventually all went our separate ways.

At home I had a lovely time watching the Indiana Jones extras DVD with Liz, Maryann & my mom. Then went to sleep insanely early for me (10:30pm!) and woke up with a cold and sore throat, yay. So I intend to get lots of sleep for the next few days so that I can actually do stuff over the weekend. We'll see if that works.

Lots happened this weekend. Judy's awesome birthday/Halloween party was awesome. ^_~ Lots of pics were taken, many by me; though of the ones taken of me, not many are all that flattering. Ah well. Still, all in good fun.

Went home very very late. Got up early. And missed an infrequent bus, thus rendering pointless the act of getting up early. Such was the torture of my weekend.

However. I really had a great time meeting Sean's family and attending his nephew's baptism. Dylan's really the most adorable, photogenic baby~! SO. CUTE.

Just FYI, I was not struck by lightning while at church. Which, of course, proves to me that there is, without doubt, no god. ^_~

When I got back to Queens on Sunday night, I went to meet Maryann at a pizzeria near home and while we were sitting there, Nicky called! I was soooo happy to hear from her, and especially to hear that she was able to get Saturday off to come see us in SF! She said that she has some reservations at a hot place Saturday night, so if she's able to add me onto their reservation, I'll hang out with her and her boyfriend that night. It's not like I was planning on going to the bishounen auction or the masquerade or anything. Personally, I find those events to be quite boring. I do know they're pretty popular, so no offense meant to anyone on my flist who enjoys them; they're just not my thing.

This whole week has been slightly insane and hectic. Last night was really fun, though. Met up with Liz after work, shopped at H&M (and actually found stuff I'd been looking for this time)! Then went over to meet up with Judy, Chris, Ben and John. Chris and John went to the Nightwish concert and the rest of us went to eat for Judy's birthday dinner.

We ended up at a Japanese (all-you-can-eat) buffet place, slightly expensive at $26/plate, but the food was delicious. I really overstuffed myself, but I don't think I ate anywhere close to 26 dollars' worth of food. Ben and Liz did a little better on that front, I think. ^^; But the food really was delicious -- even the sushi (and I normally don't like sushi except for spicy tuna) was yummy. Raw clams were raw and clammy and squishy, and not bad. The yakiniku was mouth-watering. It tasted like the shishkebab my father used to make; oh man I really miss some of my father's cooking~.

Maryann made an appearance, but went home to work on her costume. Which turned out really beautifully, btw. I can't wait to post pics after the weekend~! I'm also really insanely happy with my own costume, as some of you may know because I've been unable to keep from squeeing to selected people. =D

It's all windy and rainy outside ~ so pretty. (Until, of course, I have to lug my bags of crap around in it. Hopefully it'll calm down a bit by 5?)

Shoot 'Em Up on Friday was fun. We had a big group and actually bumped into Anna and Ben at the theater, who had just seen Dragonwars?, and decided to sneak into the theater with us. Two for the price of one is always good. ^^ The movie itself was almost literally non-stop action, so the boys were very pleased with it. I found it to be very amusing and slightly silly, but I liked it still. There were a couple of parts that I really loved. And Clive Owen was excellent.

Judy's 80s party on Saturday was awesome! I had so much fun dressing up; I was so excited to be able to finally use that petticoat that I've had for years. It took me a long time to finally match Liz's blue boots, so I was all excited about wearing them, but then they were off within 1/2 hour, replaced with Liz's sexy gray patent leather 3" heels. ♥ Too bad I took them off at some point and stubbed my pinky toe really badly on the couch -- the toe is now swollen and bruised with the bruise extending like 2" down onto my foot. ^^; It's only a little painful, and fortunately not horrible.

Everyone that dressed up looked great. Kelly & Katie, not surprisingly, looked amazing. I absolutely loved Katie's white blazer with zebra print trim.

And of course there was 80s music. A good mix, and definitely some of my new wave favorites, like Adam Ant's Goody Two Shoes... A-Ha's Take On Me, Bon Jovi, lots of other stuff I can't remember -- oh yes, Judy humored me and downloaded the Jem theme song! LOL! Unfortunately, I did not get to hear Berlin's The Metro. Judy mentioned that she'd probably play more of the 80s music at her Halloween/birthday party, so we'll get to hear more of it.

hmm, seems like Sean... or Don Johnson...? ...and the wigs... were really making the rounds )

More pics here. It goes from the end to the beginning, so the first ones up there are with lots of buzzed laughing going on. ^^; I think a good number of these pics are making it up on myspace and/or facebook. I think I also might have to make an icon out of one.

Pics of Ms. Nails in her other outfit for you. ^^

Hope those are okay. Taking photos of the TV sucks.

Oh, also, here's the Greyhound bus schedule I'm on. But even if you can't get these exact times, it probably won't be a problem 'cause as long as you have a ticket, they don't really care what bus you're actually scheduled for.
