Soooo, THAT happened.

The Halloween P!ATD show was fucking amazing, and I couldn't have seen the show or spent the day with a better bunch ([livejournal.com profile] sansets, [livejournal.com profile] bootson, [livejournal.com profile] coyotegestalt, an unexpected![livejournal.com profile] zeenell, and several others)! I was sad I wasn't able to con my way into M&G, but whatevs, I still got to see pantsless!Spencer, which btw I've decided is the best holiday ever.

Also, can I gush for a sec over Ian dressing up as Hit Girl?! Besides the whole crossdressing thing, which I like but isn't my particular kink, I know he did it because he's a huge. fucking. nerd. and thinks HG is badass and cool, not (only) because it'd be funny for him to wear a skirt. Let's count how many girls dress up as guys because they're badass characters-- oh wait, we can't because there are too many. I want to see more guys dressing up as awesome girl characters on Halloween. Because it's not far from something like that to girls just being legit cool without any sort of qualifiers.

It's not like I hadn't already been tipping over into having huge heart-eyes over Ian, but this pretty solidly cemented it.

Also, jesus fuck Ian-as-HG rocking out on his guitar is so fucking hot, I can't even! What is that even all about? HG is like, TEN YEARS OLD. IDEFK, maybe it's the wig. Seriously, I'd actually just love to see Ian-as-HG at every fucking Panic! show. Yes, along with Pantsless!Spencer and also Brendon with his Jesus wig because like I told twitter, somehow that made me feel like I was at a Real Rock Concertâ„¢ and it was kind of awesome.

Pstump is amazingly adorable, I don't think there are enough words to explain exactly how adorable he is. With his red suit and blinking red devil horns. It sort of made me want a sequel to Lenore's BeWentzed (Pete/Patrick), from Patrick's POV but some years down the road.

FANGIRL HOSTELS ARE THE BEST! I still can't thank [livejournal.com profile] sansets and her roomies enough for letting me crash on (one of) their couches. I hope I can return the favor someday!

HI GUYS! I'M HOOOOOOOME! As I suspected I didn't have time to make the costume I'd wanted to (I guess it'll have to wait til next year), so I need help deciding which old costume to wear to my own Halloween party on Saturday...!

I'm leaning toward the my little pony, just because it's much more comfortable, but it also depends somewhat on whether I can find the wig...

[Poll #1790028]

I'll make another, actually substantial post soon(ish). In the meantime, I get to see an [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan tomorrow! (Also Panic! and PStump!)

THIS is why I will always love Ed Sheeran, even when most of his stuff is just waaaaay too light for me. Check it out at 2:40 when he goes right into Tinie Tempah's Pass Out. =DDD

Rizzle Kicks is touring with Professor Green; I wish I could be there. =/ ONE DAY I WILL SEE THEM LIVE. ONE DAY.

BUT! I will, at least, be seeing SIX CONCERTS within the 11 days right after I get back to NYC from Indonesia. I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED. Here's what that looks like:

Mon 10/24 - return to NYC mid-day
Tue 10/25 - sew Halloween costume?
Wed 10/26 - sew Halloween costume?
Thu 10/27 - P!ATD in Clifton Park with [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan
Fri 10/28 - New Found Glory in NYC with [livejournal.com profile] thedreamerworld
Sat 10/29 - MY HALLOWEEN/WELCOME BACK/ROOMIE'S BDAY PARTY!
Sun 10/30 - recover from said party, likely with hangover
Mon 10/31 - P!ATD in DC with [livejournal.com profile] sansets
Tue 11/01 - lol, possibly sleep all day?
Wed 11/02 - Empires in NYC with Katie & [livejournal.com profile] la_dissonance?
Thu 11/03 - P!ATD in Philly with Katie and [livejournal.com profile] chaneen
Fri 11/04 - dubstep!KORN in NYC with ???

Sat 11/05 - COLLAPSE FROM EXHAUSTION
Sun 11/06 - RESIGN MYSELF TO A FUTURE WITHOUT FUN to make up for all the fun I just had... and also the money I need to save seeing as how I'm JOBLESS.

Mon 11/07 - Hahah, hopefully interviews for potential jobs I will have contacted in the previous two weeks?

*I don't even like P!ATD this much, I'm just suuuuuper excited to see the shows with friends! Also: SPENCERRRRRRRRRRRRRR. (But thank fuck I'm ending my wannabe-groupie-endeavor on a bass-heavy dubstep note!)

Still neck-deep in Inception fandom. You know, in case anyone was worried about me or anything. Judy has been away this entire week and I have reveled in having the house to myself, though I've been crazy busy and not been able to properly take advantage of it.

Because of someone's prompts and [livejournal.com profile] knowmydark's beautifully brilliant and poignant fills, I've discovered Richard Siken's amazingly intense poetry, like you can hardly bear to stop reading once you've caught a line. I highly recommend all of her fic, but in particular her Siken-esque ones: Crush, Little Beast, and Parentheses All Clicking Shut Behind You.

I'm waiting for Siken's book to be delivered to my house... possibly today. In the meantime, someone on my flist mentioned Josh Lanyon's novels; many (or all?) of which seem to include a gay protagonist. I admit to being curious, so I downloaded a bunch of his Adrien English mysteries and have read the first two in the last two days. The mysteries aren't the most complex or interesting I've ever read, and the second one, A Dangerous Thing, reminded me in some ways of Lanyon's own (self-mocking?) comparison to a Scooby-Doo mystery. There is an element of breaking fourth wall boundaries (which I have an undeniable weakness for) in that Adrien is a mystery writer and often references older mystery series and writers which have influenced his own novels; thinking of parallels in plot and character devices even as he uses them to manipulate the reader. Though it isn't a particularly subtle or layered attempt, so I'm not sure how much a credit this is to his talent. The third book won an award, however, so I suspect he gets better as it goes on.

In any case, what I like in particular is the protagonist, and how Lanyon chooses to write him; what his personality is like, what kind of choices he makes, as a gay guy, etc. I'm sometimes uncomfortably aware that girls writing gay guys in relationships can be a bit skewed, though to some extent people are people and personalities range from everything under the sun and I've never thought one couldn't write the other gender truthfully. I can differentiate between well-written, believable characters and vehicles for porn and/or Mary Sues. Believe me, I can differentiate. Still, I was curious. The books so far have been light, quick reads, but have been quite satisfying and I'd definitely recommend them to slash fandom (though not for anyone solely looking for a difficult mystery).

And now on to something completely different.

TONIGHT. TONIGHT I GO TO ANOTHER RANGERS GAME! So excited! This is my first one in a WHOLE MONTH. (Oh... well, except for the one I went to while in Chicago. But does that count? Because it wasn't the Rangers, it was Chicago vs. St. Louis?) Jesus, you do not even know how addictive it is! For the rest of the season I'm going to two games a month every month except March (and who knows if I'll be able to resist when it comes down to the wire).

Halloween is this weekend! In stark contrast to every other year I haven't really done a whole lot for it. Most everyone is gone or maybe doing something else, there's no Nerd Avengers Halloween Party this year... which is LAME, and I fully blame Maryann and AJ because they agreed to do it, but then they decided to go the rally -- whatever, guys!

But there is the Roller Derby Championship bout on Saturday, so that's awesome! AND I EXPECT THERE TO BE LOTS OF DRINKING AFTERWARDS! \o/

However, since [livejournal.com profile] honeymull is visiting on Sunday and she and [livejournal.com profile] cathybites may end up going to the parade... I might scrounge up a super-quick costume and go along with them!

/babble

What are YOU doing this weekend?
osaraba: (fma together forever)
so as promised...

the post-Halloween Halloween party was this weekend and was also a big hit. I wanted to invite friends I don't normally invite to our parties and I'm really glad it turned out so nicely! it did turn out to be mostly my coworkers, but as AJ can attest, they are ultra cool people.

OMG PARTY PICS HERE.

last night I watched repo! the genetic opera with [livejournal.com profile] thedreamerworld and [livejournal.com profile] inbredchocobo. OMG IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING AND HOT. so glad I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago! it's dark and gorey and sexy and grotesque (which is THE perfect word to describe it, actually) and exactly along the lines of what I like to see. perfect.

I need to cosplay from it though I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do just yet. I love blind mag but there are a few other characters I wouldn't mind going for as well.

btw, Anthony Stewart head and Sarah brightman! need I really say any more?!

well, except for the part about organ transplants.

which actually (ironically enough) brings me to my next topic-- the one where I'm actually sitting in the waiting room of Mount Sinai Hospital right now, waiting for my parents to get out of surgery? yep, no joke. my mom just donated one of her kidneys to my father.

as shubha said earlier, "aww that's so sweet!"

So Yaoicon is coming up. I'll be in SF at the same time as the con, but I'm not so much going to be at the con. Have a couple things planned, including, of course, seeing GW-fandom people!!!!

However, one of the things I've got planned is going skydiving on Friday, October 30th. Liz ([livejournal.com profile] metallicapixie, Juliet ([livejournal.com profile] fiinedeiopeia) and Judy ([livejournal.com profile] thedreamerworld) are all coming with! So, seeing as how Liz is a poor college student, with a fear of heights....

HELP A GIRL OUT!

Lots happened this weekend. Judy's awesome birthday/Halloween party was awesome. ^_~ Lots of pics were taken, many by me; though of the ones taken of me, not many are all that flattering. Ah well. Still, all in good fun.

Went home very very late. Got up early. And missed an infrequent bus, thus rendering pointless the act of getting up early. Such was the torture of my weekend.

However. I really had a great time meeting Sean's family and attending his nephew's baptism. Dylan's really the most adorable, photogenic baby~! SO. CUTE.

Just FYI, I was not struck by lightning while at church. Which, of course, proves to me that there is, without doubt, no god. ^_~

When I got back to Queens on Sunday night, I went to meet Maryann at a pizzeria near home and while we were sitting there, Nicky called! I was soooo happy to hear from her, and especially to hear that she was able to get Saturday off to come see us in SF! She said that she has some reservations at a hot place Saturday night, so if she's able to add me onto their reservation, I'll hang out with her and her boyfriend that night. It's not like I was planning on going to the bishounen auction or the masquerade or anything. Personally, I find those events to be quite boring. I do know they're pretty popular, so no offense meant to anyone on my flist who enjoys them; they're just not my thing.

This whole week has been slightly insane and hectic. Last night was really fun, though. Met up with Liz after work, shopped at H&M (and actually found stuff I'd been looking for this time)! Then went over to meet up with Judy, Chris, Ben and John. Chris and John went to the Nightwish concert and the rest of us went to eat for Judy's birthday dinner.

We ended up at a Japanese (all-you-can-eat) buffet place, slightly expensive at $26/plate, but the food was delicious. I really overstuffed myself, but I don't think I ate anywhere close to 26 dollars' worth of food. Ben and Liz did a little better on that front, I think. ^^; But the food really was delicious -- even the sushi (and I normally don't like sushi except for spicy tuna) was yummy. Raw clams were raw and clammy and squishy, and not bad. The yakiniku was mouth-watering. It tasted like the shishkebab my father used to make; oh man I really miss some of my father's cooking~.

Maryann made an appearance, but went home to work on her costume. Which turned out really beautifully, btw. I can't wait to post pics after the weekend~! I'm also really insanely happy with my own costume, as some of you may know because I've been unable to keep from squeeing to selected people. =D

It's all windy and rainy outside ~ so pretty. (Until, of course, I have to lug my bags of crap around in it. Hopefully it'll calm down a bit by 5?)
osaraba: (angelina wtf)
So tonight's our big group cosplay discussion. Angelica jokingly said we should all cosplay Lara Croft, and I was reminded that I never did post these from Halloween...

aha! )

[livejournal.com profile] metallicapixie is so cute! <3
