THIS is why I will always love Ed Sheeran, even when most of his stuff is just waaaaay too light for me. Check it out at 2:40 when he goes right into Tinie Tempah's Pass Out. =DDD

Rizzle Kicks is touring with Professor Green; I wish I could be there. =/ ONE DAY I WILL SEE THEM LIVE. ONE DAY.

BUT! I will, at least, be seeing SIX CONCERTS within the 11 days right after I get back to NYC from Indonesia. I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED. Here's what that looks like:

Mon 10/24 - return to NYC mid-day
Tue 10/25 - sew Halloween costume?
Wed 10/26 - sew Halloween costume?
Thu 10/27 - P!ATD in Clifton Park with [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan
Fri 10/28 - New Found Glory in NYC with [livejournal.com profile] thedreamerworld
Sat 10/29 - MY HALLOWEEN/WELCOME BACK/ROOMIE'S BDAY PARTY!
Sun 10/30 - recover from said party, likely with hangover
Mon 10/31 - P!ATD in DC with [livejournal.com profile] sansets
Tue 11/01 - lol, possibly sleep all day?
Wed 11/02 - Empires in NYC with Katie & [livejournal.com profile] la_dissonance?
Thu 11/03 - P!ATD in Philly with Katie and [livejournal.com profile] chaneen
Fri 11/04 - dubstep!KORN in NYC with ???

Sat 11/05 - COLLAPSE FROM EXHAUSTION
Sun 11/06 - RESIGN MYSELF TO A FUTURE WITHOUT FUN to make up for all the fun I just had... and also the money I need to save seeing as how I'm JOBLESS.

Mon 11/07 - Hahah, hopefully interviews for potential jobs I will have contacted in the previous two weeks?

*I don't even like P!ATD this much, I'm just suuuuuper excited to see the shows with friends! Also: SPENCERRRRRRRRRRRRRR. (But thank fuck I'm ending my wannabe-groupie-endeavor on a bass-heavy dubstep note!)

THE POGUES

The Pogues
Terminal 5
March 15,16,17 at 8pm
$65 now/$70 day-of

http://www.terminal5nyc.com/event/5641

The Pogues play NYC for St. Patty's day, as usual. As usual, I want to see them but can't really justify the $65 (+ fees, no doubt) ticket price.

SIGH.

FIRST. Blackhawks win over the Canucks 5-1 in an exciting game, though it seems Vancouver kind of just gave up late in the second and definitely in the third.

THEN. @TSNBobMcKenzie says he thinks Western Conference Finals will start either Friday or Sunday. WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR -- because then I'd be able to actually watch a game in a Chicago bar while I'm there!!!! since I'm only free on Sunday night to do so -- but I was thinking that it would FOR REALS NOT WORK THAT WAY. BUT NOW IT MIGHT!

AND THEN. It's announced that X-JAPAN IS PLAYING LOLLAPALOOZA THIS YEAR. WITH SUGIZO. Seriously, WTF is up with things happening in Chicago this year?! Not that I'm going to go to this, but damn! The US has come a LONG way; seeing Japanese bands like D'espairsray and Dir en Grey successfully tour the US (and come back for more), and then arguably THE biggest metal/visual kei band EVER out of Japan is coming over to play...

I just wish one day BUCK-TICK would do this. I know their fanbase in the US is no where near the other bands I mentioned. BUT! <3 I'd love to see them again. I really wish I'd been able to see them in the 1996-1999 era. *pouts*

So even though I was passed out on the couch at 9pm while watching the Pens vs. Isles game, I went back into the city at 10pm to make the Finntroll show with Liz. A twitter friend (who is full of AWESOME, btw) got us in for free! Which, also, was great, because they weren't worth paying $30 for, definitely. But they were worth two gin & tonics and the privilege of being back in the crowd at a fucking headbangin' metal show! \m/

I didn't exactly forget how much I like being on the outskirts of a mosh pit, but this gave me a visceral reminder. Haven't been to a moshing sort of show in almost a year now, and I MISSED IT OKAY! It's even better when it's not your FAVE BAND EVAR OMG. Because then you don't care about being in the front row to be able to see the band and their interactions, or making cow eyes at them, etc. Instead, it's just the experience of the crowd and the pushing and shoving and EXHILERATION! \o/

No bruises or anything (it was kind of lame because some guys right behind us were being all protective or just not going along with the moshing or something), but I definitely got stepped on the backs of my calves, an elbow to the cheekbone and at some point someone hit my head and my chin went into the back of the (really tall) guy in front of me. FUN TIMES. I did get some sort of scratch on my arm and have no idea how it got there.

SO. This show has srsly whet my appetite for more moshing and we got tix for the Hellyeah show, so I am REALLY EXCITED! Also, Hole is the next day! So I guess I will be super tired/sore that week?

Should I be ashamed to say that at some point (when the music was a bit boring but the crowd was good), I was imagining that I was at a Hard Core Logo concert and Hugh/Joe was singing "Who the Hell Do You Think You Are?"

Hole
Terminal 5
Wednesday, April 28, 2010
8:00 pm
Gen Adm only: $35+fees

Buy tickets here.

The 4/27 show sold out so they added the 4/28 show.

Liz and I already bought tix. We'd love it if you want to join us, but please remember that this is ALL general admission and we BOTH love to be in the thick of the crowd so you should NOT count on us either having room to breathe, or necessarily even being able to stay together in the crowd.

So. Who's going to this?

So yes, JUST purchased tickets to San Francisco (as well as a rental car -- $88 for the weekend)! I will be there during the weekend of Yaoicon, but I won't be buying a badge to the con. There are other things I'm intending to do -- skydiving, visiting the Winchester House, and going to see the annual Warp 11 Halloween show! And this time, Liz & Juliet, and maybe Judy will be going!

On Thursday, however, I intend to just kick back, hang out, and talk shop with friends I haven't seen in forever! [livejournal.com profile] yaoichick and [livejournal.com profile] badmomma64 are among the ones I know are going to Ycon this year. I need to arrange meet-ups!

You know what's weird? My flights are the same exact flights (with almost the same exact departure and arrival times) as my last flights to Ycon, back in 2007.

Anyone interested in Final Fantasy orchestra concert?

Baltimore, MD
Saturday, June 27
8pm

Ticket info here.

If anyone is seriously interested, let me know. I'm kind of on the fence about going, so I might just need a little convincing. Theoretically, this could be a day trip if I rent a car to drive down.

Need to know by next Thursday, or I'm forgetting it.

CAKE

osaraba: (minako hand it over)
Cake is going to be playing at the Starland Ballroom!!!!

Wednesday, October 1st
7:00pm
$31.50 GA
tickets

I want to go SO BAD! And it's relatively cheap! But it's at Starland, which means it's a PAIN to get to from the city by mass transit and it's on a weekday, to boot. ;_; I've never seen Cake before live, and I'd really like to, dammit!

It's times like these I really wish I had a car.

In other news, Zoltan confirmed that he & Jon would both be joining us, so yaye~ more people in the room. =D I wonder what their experience will be like, with a 25,000-people con as their first. It's actually really difficult for me to imagine what it's like coming to cons for the first time nowadays since it's been so long since I started attending these... and since it's been so long since I've actually done anything but cosplay and hang out.

I passed out last night at midnight -- on the floor, no less -- after sewing the collar onto Liz's kimono. Tonight I will be making up for it by most likely not sleeping until I get on the greyhound tomorrow morning. Ah, crunch time. >_<;

What to do, what to do...

Jonathan Coulton with Paul and Storm
Highline Ballroom (16th & 9th)

osaraba: (duo-eyes)
The Raconteurs
Terminal 5
Sun 6/1, 9pm
$40

Bang Camaro
Bowery Ballroom
Thurs 6/12, 8pm
$15

I was vaguely interested in the Raconteurs show, but not for $40. Too bad.
osaraba: (mystery to me)
Just thought I'd post for anyone who might be interested:

Nightwish
May 8, 2008
Starland Ballroom
Sayreville, NJ
tickets here

Just for the record, I'm not into Nightwish so I won't be going.

In other news, I finished downloading a couple of Wumpscut albums last night! Unfortunately I fell asleep before I could transfer them to my mp3 player, but I'm looking forward to listening to them! Also, Judy, I forgot to bring your external hd again, sorry. ^^; But I'll go over to the Japan Society today to pick up the book for you. =D
osaraba: (sh stabstab)
Bang Camaro, of GH2 Push Push (Lady Lightning) fame, is playing Webster Hall (11th between 3rd & 4th) tomorrow night. Doors open 7pm.

Tickets are $20.

NA is tomorrow night... but. It's Bang Camaro! And for $20!

Also, apparently The Dresden Dolls will be playing the Manhattan Center's Grand Ballroom (formerly known as Hammerstein Ballroom at 34th & 8th) on New Years' Eve. Doors open 8:30pm. Tickets are $35 advance/$45 at-door.
osaraba: (naruto =D)
Cake is playing 12/12 and 12/13 at Terminal 5 (56th St & 11th Ave). Doors open 6:30pm.

Tickets are $37.50.

I know there's a Barcade thing happening on the 12th (Wednesday), so if anyone's interested in going on the 13th (Thursday), please let me know. Liz wanted to go, so barring any unforeseen circumstances, we're definitely going.

In other news, maybe the "baked" part-- my mp3 player doesn't work. There was no lead-up or warning, so I'm not sure what's wrong. On Sunday I loaded some music on it, unplugged it from the computer, then put it in my bag. When I tried to listen to it a couple hours later, it wouldn't turn on and I assumed it was because the battery died, but now my computer still won't recognize it when I plug it in. I have to find the wall charger and see if that'll wake it up. Otherwise I'll have to contact Creative and have it looked at. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a removable battery, so I can't even pop it out and put it back in. And the reset button does nothing. At least it's still under warranty. >_<;

This is really quite annoying because I miss having music on the train. Argh!

Thank you <3 to all the people who wished me a happy birthday by phone or message! I'm also very happy today because I'm wearing (for the first time) the t-shirt, that [livejournal.com profile] koyappi got for my birthday two years ago, of Duo-with-scythe drawn by [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121. ♥♥♥ =D

For [livejournal.com profile] loudnbothered, 'cause you said you wanted to see them, and in case you didn't already know: link to tickets for Deftones/Dir en grey/The Fall of Troy (heh) at Roseland Ballroom on Fri, June 8th at 7:30pm. All tix are general admission, $27.50 before fees.

I'll be off work tomorrow, although I will still come into the city for Nerd Avengers (Maryann will be in Albuquerque). I have to work Friday and Saturday, but I'm still planning on going to [livejournal.com profile] ddrkaiba's -- is anyone else going after 5pm? So I don't have to use NJ Transit by my lonesome?

Other things that have made me happy in the last few days:
-- Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters, Inc. series (Angelica, you have to read these)
-- Maryann's drawing present (me, Shinigami, Kitsue, Pyramid Head and his tentacle-tongue)
-- a renewed interest in Zetsuai music
-- a renewed interest in Buck-Tick music
-- a clean room motivated by Alex's visit on Thursday
-- a postcard from Leo!
-- beginning Japanese lessons at the Japan Society next Wed night (so can we move Nerd Avengers, huh? huh?)
-- Jerry's text message of 7:30 this morning wishing me a happy birthday. =D
