Johncon this weekend was very cool. One thing I have to say, is that if you ever have the opportunity to swim in an outdoor pool when it's pouring, you should definitely do that. It's a good feeling. =D Chris did a good job of being vague and amusing, so I will leave my con report at that.

I enjoyed the drive out and surprisingly, the compact Nissan Versa I rented had enough leg room for the tall boy in the back. It was a cute little car and I have a fondness for hatchbacks. Still, the 6-CD changer and sun/moon roof from last time were greatly missed. Traffic was pretty awesome this time around, and I was grateful. I was super tired on the drive back and would not have enjoyed a lot of stop-and-go traffic.

I dropped Sean and Ben off in the city, then drove back home to drop off Judy and our bags, then over to LGA airport to drop off the car -- all by my lonesome. ^_~ Which was really more than fine; it was a beautiful day outside and I was pleased with having just myself for company for the first time in over 48 hours. The car rental happened to be a block down from the bus stop going back to the Roosevelt station (E/F/G/R/V), so I took a nice leisurely bus ride and then took the R the two stops to my place. It is pretty SWEET to be so conveniently located, even though the bus ride probably took a good 30 minutes and then no less than 8 express trains went by before the local showed up.

Didn't get to sleep as early as I'd intended. And then stressed out over some work and other stuff this morning. I am so serious about scheduling nothing in Nov/Dec. I am in dire need of a break.

I FORGOT TO MENTION! I got a haircut on Thursday. It was mostly a trim, but she went shorter than I wanted on the long side... at first, I didn't like the styling, but when I fixed it at home, I liked it better. I have a cute little curl (not very obvious, but it's there) behind my left ear. It makes me happy. =D And it seems to look a little more feminine than I think has usually been my style, but it works. =D So yeah. Though in general it really isn't that drastic a change.

In addition, I got a trim tonight which they totally screwed up. My short side is really too short -- I can't hide my earrings now. Which is NOT supposed to be the case! I'm probably going to have to buy some more "respectable" looking earrings now, just so it's not metal hoops in your face. =/ I'm crossing my fingers in the hope that my hair will grow quickly over this next week!

Finally caught up on the flist after being away from LJ for a week.

It was such beautiful weather for several days this week, it made me restless and wanting to go and do physical things, like walk around and play outside and things like that. Or, alternatively, go back to doing transliterations of Buck-Tick lyrics, or embroider a new B-T patch ('cause my old one is totally falling apart).

So I cleaned a bit. Not that much, but enough to make it feel like there's quite a bit more space to walk, ha ha. Also, I went to get my hair trimmed today after work (and after eating dinner with Liz), so it looks all cute and upbeat again. (But not so much different than usual.) ^^;

Friday's my day off so I'm hoping to summon the motivation to go into the city relatively early and, like, do something. I finally put in my 3mm talons -- they're so very pretty, so now I want to go to Unimax and see if they have any other pretty ones in a 3.6mm (or thereabouts) size. I'm hoping to use that to do a transitional stretch between 8g and 6g. (FYI, approximately, 8g=3.2mm, 6g=4mm.) I'm not afraid of the pain, but I am afraid of tearing my earlobe, or having a blowout. =(

Also! I got a new camera. It's a Lumix FZ-15 and it's pretty. I want to go out and have fun with it and play tourist. Even though I hate tourists. Why couldn't I have received it earlier in the week when it was all sunny and nice outside?

Work was pointless. Not much to say there.

Hanging out with Victor and Chris and Carrie was excellent. Fun just hanging out. I'm going to miss everyone while I'm in Japan for two weeks. I wish I could just bring everyone with me...

Anyway, I went to get that haircut, and they ended up staying while I got it. =D I went to the SuperCuts on St. Mark's and they did an excellent job. Just what I wanted! I think that's the first time I'm ever saying that for a haircut. Of course, it's a little shorter than I really wanted/was expecting in the back, but I'll live.

Maybe my router just wanted some attention. It seems to be working fine now. Heehee.

I'm just grateful.

Also, I took a few quick pics of my new-haircut self. )

I should update my avatar. Although I suppose it's accurate enough now, except for the green part.

For some really weird reason, whenever I try to load my koyasunomiko.com email site on my computer at home, the connection is insanely slow. I can access my koyasunomiko.com webpages fine, but not the email. And when I access it on a computer at work, it's fine; fast as usual. I'd say there's something wrong with my laptop, but it happens with the desktop in the computer room upstairs too. =( And then I'd say it's a problem with my router, but I tried using the next door neighbor's connection too, and it was the same. I am lost. I don't even know where to start, what it could possibly be. This really sucks.

Other news: I got a haircut last Sunday (not yesterday). It's yummy, I like it sooo much! It's short on my right side again, and longer on my left. The right side is shorter than I'd cut it before, though, so it's new for me, and I really like it! The only thing I don't like is that I'll have to have it cut a lot more frequently in order to maintain the look. Before I started cutting my hair, I'd go for years with nothing more than a semi-annual (if that) trim. Now I'll have to cut it every few months. Which is damn annoying because I have yet to find someone who will cut my hair the way I ask for it. ::growles::

Also! I watched the 13 Mirage of Blaze TV episodes this weekend during the snow... and O!M!F!G! it's soooo good. The further the series went, however, the more Naoe seemed to turn into Nanjo Koji, which is quite appropriate, IMO. I appreciated the fact that Takaya was a strong character and with the exception of one episode (where Naoe Koji Hayami exerted his Ultimate-Seme powers), he didn't really give in and become a weak/whiny/helpless uke.

I really like that, for the most part, the story was plot-driven and NOT (thank god!) YAOI-driven. I have to watch the OVA tonight which, I'm hoping, will have a bit more story than was revealed in the TV series. Was this based on a manga like most anime? If so, I'd love to read the manga! If it's anywhere near as good as the anime, I'd be highly impressed. Anyone have any of the manga?

I am so going to watch Zetsuai over tonight after watching the OVA. =D

Lastly, the snow. Over 2 feet. Lots of shoveling. Need I say more?

My computer is back, which is very nice. Unfortunately, they didn't do a clone like the guy I talked to over the phone said they would, so I lost lots and lots of files (the only ones I'm really mad over, though, are the scanlations that are gone). Do you know how long it took Liz and I to download those?! Not even that, but finding them! I don't know if we'll be able to get them again -- especially the licensed stuff. It's really painful when I think about it, so this is pretty much the extent to which I will comment on it. Best to pack up and move on since there's nothing much I can do about it.

Angelica showed me a few teasers to several anime on Monday -- Beck, Meine Leibe, Gankutsurou (or something like that), and a bit of Gundam SEED Destiny. They all looked pretty interesting, and I feel like I'm getting back into watching anime again -- after quite a hiatus. It feels quite nice, I must say. I saw 4 episodes of Beck (and actually have been a bit impatient to get the rest from her, so I've been downloading a few more episodes on my own, which is only because I had some unexpected free time that I don't expect to continue). I'm waiting to get episodes of the other anime from her, but I do look forward to seeing them! I've actually been finishing watching Hikaru no Go (I'd stopped at around episode 52 or so), and it's got me all excited again! Teehee.

It seems that Warp 11's third album has not yet been released (big surprise), but it should be out this year. Hopefully soon because I'm getting pretty desperate for it. I downloaded from their message board a few "bootlegs" of some of their live shows, so at least I'll be able to hear some of their new songs if the third album takes even longer to come out than I expect it to! Also! I bought a Creative Labs Zen Micro from ebay. It's "only" 5gb, but it has FM radio, so it is perfect for me. I can't imagine filling up the 5gb with music, although I do probably have over 5gb of music on my computer (which, thankfully, were not lost in the computer crash!).

I've also been catching more episodes of Teen Titans again -- Louie re-awakened my delight with the show recently by telling me about some really cute fics she's been reading. Oh yes! On Saturday night, Louie, Maryann, Lee & Zoila, and I went to a goth/dance club on the Upper East Side. At first there weren't too many people dancing, but eventually it filled up. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite Lee's scene, and she wanted to leave, but we stayed (mostly because I kind of ignored it 'cause I had just gotten started, and I felt a bit guilty about that, but) it turned out alright in the end. We were there for about 4.5 hours, and danced for most of that time, and boy it was fun! Too bad the place only is open? meets? once a month, but at least I know that I'll probably get some of them to come back with me next month (and I won't leave some of my stuff at Lee & Zoila's place, in case they want to go home early).

I took one pic of my new haircut (before I dyed it, though), so here it is. It isn't too good a pic -- you can't quite see the cut so clearly, but you get the idea. And I'll have to take another pic of it now that it's dyed 'cause it's really cute!

Long time, no update. Of course, I'm sure this is no big surprise to anyone who's actually reading this. I have been meaning to, but this time I have a somewhat valid excuse! My computer crashed last week! (I'm not excited by this, despite the use of exclamation points.) I was unable to bring it anywhere to get it fixed until today, however. And since they have some backlog, they said it was going to be at least a week before it's done. I don't really even know what the real problem is, but it requires reinstallation of the operating system. That means a potential loss of 60gb-worth of stuff! So, what I decided was to get a data transfer done to an external harddrive (I bought a 160gb hd for $130, on sale!) and then the reinstallation of the OS. Liz and I had been meaning to get an external hd for a long time, for back-up & storage purposes, but we never got around to it. Ha ha. Now look what happened. We obviously should have done it a long time ago; then I wouldn't have had to lose many downloaded programs (because they only transfer "files, folders, music, and pictures"). They suck. Well, at least I have all my other stuff, if not those programs. Most of which I'll be able to find and re-download anyway, but the annoyance~!

Anyway, the other news is that I cut my hair 'cause my UN job ended last week!!! I'm so happy. I will miss the extra money, of course, which is what is financing my trip to Japan. But I was dying without being able to cut & dye my hair (no pun intended, I assure you). I was really beginning to feel pretty disgusting about how I looked and... I guess I didn't really realize until now how that can really depress your spirits.

So yes, I got a nice new haircut! It's short on my right side (just below the top of the ear), and gets longer in a gradual slant all the way around to my left side where it's about two inches past my chin. So happy! Now I just have to bleach and dye it and I will feel renewed and delicious! I will, of course, post pics just as soon as (1) Liz is back home from Italy (Sunday evening) and I can use the camera again, and (2) the computer is back in my house and I can upload the pics. ^^;

Also! A remixed version of Buck-Tick's song ドレス is being used as the opening to a new anime called BLOOD TRINITY! I can't wait to hear the remix, and to see the anime when it starts coming out subbed -- it's about vampires, too! (As in, the only other anime B-T did an OP song for was Mayonaka Tantei Nightwalker, which was a vampire anime, also. Tee hee. Looks like they've got their little obsession too! It makes me very happy that they like vampires, one of those things that I love myself. =D I'm a bit disappointed that it isn't a new song, which I was led to believe when Angelica was telling me about it, but I discovered otherwise. ::sigh:: However, I am looking forward to hearing the new remix.

I dunno why, but I feel genki right now! Oh! I think I know why! I re-dyed my hair. Originally it was "Coral Red" then I put some "Hot Lava" over it 'cause it wasn't dark enough. But that was a few (2?) months ago. So, just recently it was kind of orange. So tonight I finally re-dyed it the "Hot Lava" color. ^_~

I should be sleeping now 'cause I have to wake up at 6 am to get to work tomorrow morning! (But I'm not; I'm so bad!) But you know... woulda, shoulda, coulda...

Tonikaku... got a good deal on tapes today. All due to the fact that I broke my headphones. (Damn things are always breaking like the bastards they are.) But anyway... since I broke my headphones I went into one of the many electronics stores on Canal Street and found out that the TDK Premium Quality blank VHS tapes were only $1.40 each. So I bought a box of 10. I know where I'll be getting my blank VHS tapes from now on. It really cheered me up considering Tony didn't have my VHS copies of Angelica's DVDs ready yet. (Sheesh! The nerve!) Oh and I got another pair of headphones for $16.99 instead of the $19.99 they are everywhere else.

I'm a sucker for a sale. (No comments out of YOU, miss!)

And Louie's coming to visit me at work tomorrow. Isn't she sweet?! Of course, she's dropping off the Das Tour tapes, which means I have to lug them home. But I guess there are worse things I could be lugging home.

I dare someone to think of some. ^_~

Anyway... I guess that's my long monologue/explanation thingy about why I'm feeling genki right now. o.O*

Ja mata ne!
