I ended up driving my parents to Connecticut today -- Torrington? if anyone is familiar with CT? -- about 100 miles away from NYC, so a 2-hour drive. Luckily, the car's air-conditioning is working perfectly. Truthfully, I think I'd've been fine with the windows rolled down, especially since we were going 70-75 mph the whole way, but my parents have long since passed that point where they can survive the heat without a/c.

I had a great time, though, because I love driving, and we had a good time listening to music and watching the scenery pass by. I rarely have anything less than a good time while driving long distances. The drive back added another hour to the trip, because of rush hour, and that was really frustrating at times, but it wasn't anywhere near my limit.

Last night's Clutch show was pretty fucking awesome. The mosh pit was crazy and great; I heard two guys talking during the break before the encore about the three girls one guy had spotted in the mosh pit -- one of which ("the big girl") was me. I wanted to ask whether that was a "good" or a "bad" thing, but I figured me asking would skew the answer, so I kept my mouth shut and continued to eavesdrop in the hope of ascertaining the truth. Alas, they never specified and it was hard to tell from context. My inclination is to guess that it was a generally positive observation as they didn't seem put out/annoyed by it so much as just remarking in surprise.

I told one of the girls who kind of stayed on the outskirts of the mosh pit with me for most of the time that she was awesome (and then she hugged me!) because she was SO VERY TINY -- it takes guts to get into the mosh pit on purpose. I only went in a little myself, because it was particularly rowdy at times, though I stayed on the outskirts the rest of the time. My left arm is suuuuuuper sore from fending off collisions as well as pushing people back in! SO MUCH FUN.

As on-the-fence I am about their lyrics, Clutch ALWAYS puts on a fucking awesome live show. Their music, without fail, makes me want to dance or jump or, you know, mosh. <3

Is tomorrow supposed to be as insane, temperature-wise, as today? If so, that's fine, though I will likely spend a good portion of it in front of the fan since I don't generally bother with the a/c we have in the living room.

today is the perfect day for an umbrella.

I often forgo umbrellas in even pouring rain, so this is not an idle comment.

Finally caught up on the flist after being away from LJ for a week.

It was such beautiful weather for several days this week, it made me restless and wanting to go and do physical things, like walk around and play outside and things like that. Or, alternatively, go back to doing transliterations of Buck-Tick lyrics, or embroider a new B-T patch ('cause my old one is totally falling apart).

So I cleaned a bit. Not that much, but enough to make it feel like there's quite a bit more space to walk, ha ha. Also, I went to get my hair trimmed today after work (and after eating dinner with Liz), so it looks all cute and upbeat again. (But not so much different than usual.) ^^;

Friday's my day off so I'm hoping to summon the motivation to go into the city relatively early and, like, do something. I finally put in my 3mm talons -- they're so very pretty, so now I want to go to Unimax and see if they have any other pretty ones in a 3.6mm (or thereabouts) size. I'm hoping to use that to do a transitional stretch between 8g and 6g. (FYI, approximately, 8g=3.2mm, 6g=4mm.) I'm not afraid of the pain, but I am afraid of tearing my earlobe, or having a blowout. =(

Also! I got a new camera. It's a Lumix FZ-15 and it's pretty. I want to go out and have fun with it and play tourist. Even though I hate tourists. Why couldn't I have received it earlier in the week when it was all sunny and nice outside?

I went to Angelica's house earlier. We only live a block away from each other, so I went out without a jacket; not that I needed one. It was nice and sunny outside, not a cloud in the sky, nice and warm too.

So... about an hour later we decide to go out to the post office to check our p.o. box and send some ebay auction stuff and a few tapes that people ordered from my distro site. We left the building and crossed the street to take the bus which takes us about 3 blocks away from the post office. And what happens when we get to the bus stop?

It starts to rain, of course.

At first it was a light rain. Not drizzle, and not mist. But it wasn't that bad. You could walk in it for a few blocks and not get soaked to the skin.

Then the bus comes. We get on and a few blocks later it is pouring. And I mean, it's really coming down! HIDOI!

So we resigned ourselves to running in the rain for the post office. We packed our stuff up into our bags as best we could. (Luckily the Fushigi Yuugi manga that Angelica was sending didn't get wet.) And as soon as we were out the doors of the bus, we were off & running.

But you know, those three blocks are pretty long blocks. And half way there it wasn't even worth it to run anymore because we were already soaked to the skin.

We finally made it to the sanctuary of the post office and got on line to send our stuff (and cash a few money orders that I'd been waiting for and could really have used last week. o.O*) And as I was on line, I turned around and looked outside. And guess what?

It was SUNNY! Without a single raindrop in the sky! Where not 5 minutes earlier, the gutters at the crosswalks were flowing rivers of rainwater half a foot deep and just about 5 feet across, NOW they were tame little streams, an inch deep and not even worth it to jump across!

HI-fucking-DOI!

But then we went to go eat and I felt better. =)

And now I'm back at her house, with a borrowed DRY shirt and I feel nice and warm!

And you know what?

That was fun. ^_~
