When it rains, it pours...
May. 30th, 2001 05:39 pmI went to Angelica's house earlier. We only live a block away from each other, so I went out without a jacket; not that I needed one. It was nice and sunny outside, not a cloud in the sky, nice and warm too.
So... about an hour later we decide to go out to the post office to check our p.o. box and send some ebay auction stuff and a few tapes that people ordered from my distro site. We left the building and crossed the street to take the bus which takes us about 3 blocks away from the post office. And what happens when we get to the bus stop?
It starts to rain, of course.
At first it was a light rain. Not drizzle, and not mist. But it wasn't that bad. You could walk in it for a few blocks and not get soaked to the skin.
Then the bus comes. We get on and a few blocks later it is pouring. And I mean, it's really coming down! HIDOI!
So we resigned ourselves to running in the rain for the post office. We packed our stuff up into our bags as best we could. (Luckily the Fushigi Yuugi manga that Angelica was sending didn't get wet.) And as soon as we were out the doors of the bus, we were off & running.
But you know, those three blocks are pretty long blocks. And half way there it wasn't even worth it to run anymore because we were already soaked to the skin.
We finally made it to the sanctuary of the post office and got on line to send our stuff (and cash a few money orders that I'd been waiting for and could really have used last week. o.O*) And as I was on line, I turned around and looked outside. And guess what?
It was SUNNY! Without a single raindrop in the sky! Where not 5 minutes earlier, the gutters at the crosswalks were flowing rivers of rainwater half a foot deep and just about 5 feet across, NOW they were tame little streams, an inch deep and not even worth it to jump across!
HI-fucking-DOI!
But then we went to go eat and I felt better. =)
And now I'm back at her house, with a borrowed DRY shirt and I feel nice and warm!
And you know what?
That was fun. ^_~
