Yaoicon 2005

Okay, Angelica and I might be able to go. I made a reservation at the Clarion hotel, just in case. Unfortunately, the Westin was sold out for the con rate, and I'd really much rather spend $89/night at the Clarion than $189/night at the Westin (non-con non-group rate). There are a few things preventing me from completely confirming our attendance:

1. I need to confirm with my new boss that I'd be able to take that Friday and possibly Saturday off (if I work Saturdays, which I suspect I will). We'd most likely be flying in on Thursday evening, too late to really do much but maybe hang out with friends (not that that isn't exactly what I'm wanting to go to Ycon for).
   
   
2. We need roommates. More specifically, roommates who (a) will not mind if we have to back out, (b) will not mind taking over the room reservation if we have to back out, or (c) already have a room (or floor space) and will not mind if we have to back out. *Note: Notice of backing-out status would be given by mid-September (see reason #1).
   
   
3. We have not purchased plane tickets or pre-reg'd yet (see reasons #1 and #2).

If anyone meets any of the requirements for #2, please let me know. (Or if you know anyone else who might be interested, please have them contact me.) Obviously, the majority of it will be riding on what my boss says. And yet, do you think he'd begrudge me 1-2 days off, with advance notice of 2 months?

Liz scouted out a camera repair shop that gives free estimates, and found out that it would cost $80 to repair, or $0 if they can't fix it. So we gave it to them. Having bought that Sony W5 for a pretty good deal, I've decided to keep it and let Liz and my parents have the other one. So my mom agreed to split the cost of the repairs with me.

Oooh~ Liz might have her own camera this year at Otakon! We might have like, 1000 pictures to go through instead of only five- or six-hundred! =D

Good-ish non-news.

I hope I'm not stealing Maryann's thunder if she actually does make a post. She went for her interview today, and it seems like they're really interested in hiring her! The only thing holding them back from making a formal offer, it seems, is the possibility of someone who already works there getting? applying for? the full-time Assistant Manager position.

She asked if Raquel had called and they said she had called Alan, and that Alan really liked Raquel, so that if Raquel recommended her, it's a plus. I'm so happy that Raquel called. Also, I feel slightly omnipotent and very much like a puppet-master, muhahahaha... but we won't go into that.

We're hoping that the other guy doesn't get the job, so that they'll ask Maryann to do it. It would be very cool. =D
