金魚 (goldfish)
Mar. 23rd, 2005 02:42 pmAround two months ago, Angelica found Buck-Tick scorebooks at Book-Off, and so I bought them. I thought I mentioned this a while ago, but apparently not. Anyway, there were eight of them, all from their early albums up to Sexy Stream Liner -- including Six/Nine. Every time they'd go up for auction on ebay, I'd pine, but I couldn't afford to pay $20 each. I know a few people have asked why I wanted them (and what I'm going to do with them) since I can't play any instruments. And my answer has always been that I just want them 'cause they're B-T memorabilia and such. But I have also wanted them for their lyrics.
And then today, out of completely nowhere, I realized! I can finally finish my transliteration of Aikawarazu...!!! Hahahahahaha! What a bastard of a song! It's soooo good, but they had to go and use obscure kanji and weird kanji groupings. It really pissed the hell out of me when I tried transliterating it two years ago!
Oh, but now I have my revenge. And it shall be updated upon my website, post-haste!

...but your lips are venomous poison.
Feb. 22nd, 2005 01:59 pmWell. It's Tuesday again, another day off. I finished watching the rest of Hikaru no Go, which was quite satisfying as well as irritating in its open-endedness. But I did like it very much. I'm impatient to see that "New Year's special" that Angelica told me is more like an hour-long episode or something. I was going to see the few episodes of Beck that I'd downloaded because Angelica had the episodes at her grandmother's house, so I wouldn't be able to get them until this week. Of course, it turned out that I didn't really have a chance to watch them until this week anyway. But then, to top it off, Liz deleted them from the computer! Go fucking figure. Dl'ing them for who knows how many hours, and then I still have to wait to get the CDs from Angelica. Luckily, Angelica brought them home with her today, so I'll be able to pick them up from her later, around 5, maybe. But it would really just figure if she decided not to bring eps 5 through whatever because I'd downloaded them.
In other, slightly cheerier news, Nebraska sent me her transliteration and translation of Buck-Tick's Sasayaki, so I updated my BT Shrine with those lyrics. I always knew it was a hot song, but it's really kirei...
I got that Creative Zen Micro mp3 player. It's cute. It's kind of weird being able to listen to such a wide variety of music -- and so many songs. It's almost like too many choices to be able to enjoy the music; I just can't decide what to listen to. I'll get used to it, I suppose. Apparently, Angelica "took my advice" and sold her Zen Extra (30gb) in order to buy a Zen Micro. LOL, I admit I'm not surprised. She asked me on Saturday how many songs I'd put on mine (230 at that point; I have about 300 or so now) and said she'd struggled to put 200 on hers. I had noticed when she first got the Zen Extra that there was a lack of volume considering the capacity of the drive...
Oh! I saw Constantine on Friday with Angelica, Maryann and Will in Sunnyside. Let me first say that it was pretty amusing -- it must've been a newbie handling the film or something because the film kept running off the reel and we were left with white screen several times during the film. But we did all get free movie vouchers for another time. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie (although I haven't read the comics, so I don't know if I might have been disappointed with the differences). I was quite surprised by how Catholic the story was... supernatural movies of this ilk tend to be that sort of religious that's so common that most people don't notice it anymore. But this was pretty in your face. I think that whole suicides-go-directly-to-Hell thing comes across pretty harsh to non-Catholics (maybe to them too?), but of course, I'm an atheist, so it would. But even though the fact that it was so strongly Catholicism-related was somewhat discomfiting, I also liked it for that -- it definitely wasn't the normal, numbness-inducing sort of religious-type imagery (sorry, all you Protestants out there). In short, it was possibly more discomfiting to a larger amount of people than the minority of non-Protestants in the country, and that makes me somewhat happy (but not in a vindictive sort of way), more like a, here, now you know what I feel like, sort of way.
But the movie itself was pretty cool -- Gabriel was awesome, I really loved that they chose a woman to play the part, making him more androgynous than he is usually portrayed. I like Constantine's dry wit, it's very my style (in the comic, he's British, which makes much sense, and Blonde, however, which is a bit disappointing since I prefer dark-haired guys). Although the fact that Gabriel was on earth (and a half-breed?) was a bit weird and inconsistent. There was no stupid romantic garbage! Not even a kiss, which was deeply satisfying! The teasers were just the right tone; they made it a joke, and didn't over-do it. At first I didn't realize that it was Gavin Rossdale playing Balthasar, but when I realized it, it was pretty amusing. It really makes me want to go read the comics, but (::groan::) I don't want to be just like everyone else who's now going to buy the comics just because the movie came out. I really hate that. Maybe I can order the graphic novels online somewhere where I won't have to shame myself by going into a comic store and having the employees sneer at me secretly (or openly).
Oh! One last thing -- I really, really loved Constantine's brass knuckles. I think Angelica said, during the movie, that they were kind of a pathetic weapon, but they were perfect in my opinion -- and a total turn-on; it's that whole beating the living crap out of someone with your own two hands kind of thing. ::sigh::

Long time, no update. Of course, I'm sure this is no big surprise to anyone who's actually reading this. I have been meaning to, but this time I have a somewhat valid excuse! My computer crashed last week! (I'm not excited by this, despite the use of exclamation points.) I was unable to bring it anywhere to get it fixed until today, however. And since they have some backlog, they said it was going to be at least a week before it's done. I don't really even know what the real problem is, but it requires reinstallation of the operating system. That means a potential loss of 60gb-worth of stuff! So, what I decided was to get a data transfer done to an external harddrive (I bought a 160gb hd for $130, on sale!) and then the reinstallation of the OS. Liz and I had been meaning to get an external hd for a long time, for back-up & storage purposes, but we never got around to it. Ha ha. Now look what happened. We obviously should have done it a long time ago; then I wouldn't have had to lose many downloaded programs (because they only transfer "files, folders, music, and pictures"). They suck. Well, at least I have all my other stuff, if not those programs. Most of which I'll be able to find and re-download anyway, but the annoyance~!
Anyway, the other news is that I cut my hair 'cause my UN job ended last week!!! I'm so happy. I will miss the extra money, of course, which is what is financing my trip to Japan. But I was dying without being able to cut & dye my hair (no pun intended, I assure you). I was really beginning to feel pretty disgusting about how I looked and... I guess I didn't really realize until now how that can really depress your spirits.
So yes, I got a nice new haircut! It's short on my right side (just below the top of the ear), and gets longer in a gradual slant all the way around to my left side where it's about two inches past my chin. So happy! Now I just have to bleach and dye it and I will feel renewed and delicious! I will, of course, post pics just as soon as (1) Liz is back home from Italy (Sunday evening) and I can use the camera again, and (2) the computer is back in my house and I can upload the pics. ^^;
Also! A remixed version of Buck-Tick's song ドレス is being used as the opening to a new anime called BLOOD TRINITY! I can't wait to hear the remix, and to see the anime when it starts coming out subbed -- it's about vampires, too! (As in, the only other anime B-T did an OP song for was Mayonaka Tantei Nightwalker, which was a vampire anime, also. Tee hee. Looks like they've got their little obsession too! It makes me very happy that they like vampires, one of those things that I love myself. =D I'm a bit disappointed that it isn't a new song, which I was led to believe when Angelica was telling me about it, but I discovered otherwise. ::sigh:: However, I am looking forward to hearing the new remix.

There's a soft yellow glow...
Jan. 9th, 2002 05:00 pm...in James's office.
He never turns the overhead light on... I can't blame him; after hours of staring at your computer screen, the overhead fluorescent lights are like overkill. If I had an office of my own, I'd probably have the lights off all the time, too. Besides, it only gets dark around 4:30 or 5:00, and by that time there's less than an hour left 'til quittin' time!
But James has a desk lamp on all the time that bathes his office in yellow. It's... warm. Personally, I'd prefer no light over soft yellow light... but for the last few days I've been doing taking files from a certain file cabinet that, in order to get to it, I pass James's office. So every time I pass by, I'm always peeking in on my way by. The reason I say "peeking" is because he usually has his door open only about 3 or 4 inches. So I have to catch it quick as I walk by... no, of course I don't slow down! Today he hasn't been in his office much.
Not that I pass by every few minutes or anything... I really don't. I take about 5 or 6 files (depending on the size of each) and carry them back to my desk where I proceed to go through them, looking for key documents which haven't yet been uploaded to the office's shared drive. Then I scan them, save them, and upload them. Then I take the pile of files back and bring back the next several files. Each stack of files takes about an hour or two to go through, depending on what's in them-- or what's NOT in them.
I ordered another seme T-shirt. (Talk about a non sequitor.) Anyway, here, check them out; they're so kawaii.

They had the same logos on a baseball jersey-style shirt last year. Hopefully they'll come back so I can order another one.
Hmm... what else? My earring has stopped being painful to turn. Now it just hurts when I bump or tug it, but that's understandable. After all, it hasn't healed yet, has it? It'll be what, 2 weeks tomorrow? Oh, how kawaii!
Oh Oh~! I got my VHS copy of the One Life, One Death Cut Up concert DVD back from Tony... it's kirei. I <3 LOVE <3 Atsushi-kun!

So I'm back at work... how was everyone's Holiday-thingy? Mine was okay, it was mainly nice to have a break from work and thinking and stuff like that.
It's so good to see James again. It was certainly nice to have him say hi to me, and wish me a Happy New Year. =D But I don't really have much James-gushing to do today, much to Angelica's immense disappointment, I'm sure.
On Friday night (Dec 28th), I ended up going to Angelica's house and her mom (Lisa) turned it for me. It didn't hurt as much as the night before, of course, but it did hurt. She had one of her piercings pierced with a needle and had a hoop put in immediately, too, so the fact that she turned my earring without worrying about ripping it out of my ear reassured me, I suppose. After that I could turn it myself (although it still hurts), but I slides in and out much more easily now. I guess it just needed a few days to heal a bit.
So now, I turn it every morning and every night. It's easier, but it still hurts. ::sigh:: I'm probably going to be complaining about that for a while, I guess another month or so.
Oh! Lots of stuff has been happening lately. I wouldn't call it exciting, but it is something to talk about:
Leeper Kids - We had to do inventory. Fay & Yvette are being stupid and unorganized as usual. Everything done last minute, as usual. The 2nd annual Xmas/New Years dinner is tonight. I dunno where we're going, but rumour (read: Angelica) has it that it's Jamaican food. I dunno about that, but apparently they're getting back at me for having Malaysian last year (even though it wasn't my suggestion to begin with).
Buck-Tick -- Remember that rare CD & photobook that I was bidding on a few weeks ago? And it went up really high, but I lost it at the last 2 seconds? Well, even if you don't, I certainly do. The seller contacted me on New Year's Eve saying that the high bidder didn't pay up and do I want it at my high bid? Well, of course I do! So I emailed him back and now I'm paying out my nose for something that's probably not worth it, but is rare enough that I justified it to myself. Don't you love it when that happens? $90 down the drain; just like that! But I still think it's worth it, I don't think I could help my B-T (Atsushi-kun!) obsession if I wanted to!
Tony -- That is, my fansub supplier/trader/contact person guy. He'd better hurry up and finish copying that B-T concert DVD onto VHS for me, I think I'll go crazy if he doesn't.
Rangers -- Were on such a kawaii winning streak! They were playing horribly, but scoring goals anyway! Lots of fights, penalties flying back and forth - majors, double minors, people getting thrown out of the games - it was great! Then what happened? They died! Bastards better not lose to Colorado tonight! And where the fuck is Lindros anyway? What, he can't deal with a little concussion?!
My cell phone -- Fell out of my pocket this morning…. But I only realized it when I got to work. Thought it could've been at the diner I ate at just before work, called, but it wasn't there. Then thought if it didn't fall out in the car, it could have fallen out on the bus. I suspected it fell out in the car (which we parked in a parking garage across town at 49th Street & 10th Avenue) 'cause I had been sleeping in the reclining seat before getting out. Ended up going on my lunch hour back on the bus, across town, asked if I could search the car, stood around for 10 minutes, finally searched the car, found it just where I thought it would be, ran back for the bus and got back to work 15 minutes late, after picking up a bagel to eat back at my desk. Not bad. At least I have it, and it's not stolen, or on a bus somewhere. That would've been a real pain in the neck.
Tomb Raider -- Does anyone know when/if the next Tomb Raider game is coming out on PS2?
My website -- I bought a domain name and site hosting and I'm now in business under koyasunomiko.com! Cool, ne?!

I think money should grow on trees.
Dec. 5th, 2001 05:22 pmLet's see. The past few weeks I seemed to have let loose my penny-pinching ways and gone on an unprompted spending spree! (Please excuse all the aliterations, I have no idea where they've come from.) In any case, I spent several hundred dollars on costumes for me and my sister for Otakon 2002 which is still more than 6 months away! I spent $175 on a new Sony CD Walkman for myself (Liz gets to have my old Aiwa). I just spent another $60.00 on a Rangers jersey (Leetch when he was captain!). I also just spent another $50.00 on a Buck-Tick DVD when I don't even have a DVD player! But that's okay 'cause I'm going to get Tony to copy it onto VHS for me and then sell it on ebay; hopefully I'll get my money back. Also, I've yet to get my parents' gifts. My mom's gift is going to be about $15.00 (2 CDs, once I figure out what CDs I should get her, $15 from Liz, ordered from Columbia House). My father's gift is going to be around $30.00 (a $45 gift certificate to Macy's or something, $15 from Liz... my father likes to shop for clothes... kawaii, ne?). Then there's my sister's gift! I don't want to put anything in here that'd give it away, just in case she has the urge to read my LJ before we actually give the gift to her, but it's a bit expensive. ::sigh::
Not to mention I'm bidding on a rare B-T CD (Shapeless) that comes with a 96-page hardcover photo book! It's up to $42.00 right now and I'm high bidder, but there are 4 days left and who knows how much it'll go up to! And I think that I REALLY want that CD and photobook! Itai! Anyway, I hope I win. We'll see this Sunday.
So, if you have a heart, please go look at, and bid on! my auctions...
ladyreianan's auctions
Oh god, I just remembered... now I have to think of something to get for Angelica (#$@&*!) and something for Louie too! Although, I'm sure I'll find something rather easily for Louie, but Angelica, the bitch.... I wasn't prepared this year! Usually I have something for X-mas by September for her!
::slams head against desk::
Okay, I better go before my forehead gets all bloody.
Oh, and by the way, my ears HURT!!!

TOOL has such a nice site!
Nov. 26th, 2001 05:25 pmHmmm.... I've been listening to TOOL's song Schism lately. Well, I've been listening to it since it came out, but what I mean is that I've been paying more attention to the lyrics lately. I really love TOOL's lyrics; they're great! So, I've been paying more attention to the lyrics lately and I'm SO in the mood to write a GW fic! I wrote one recently, but that was after seeing Mulholland Drive which is tres kowai-yo! So the fic itself was as unintelligible as the movie.
But in any case, I went to K-rock's website (that's the local station I listen to, here in NYC) to browse their playlist (which has become very annoying -- I HATE Kid Rock and that type of music -- since Woody joined the station).... and stumbled over the website for TOOL (which is www.toolband.com, btw).
So the point of this is that they have a GREAT site! They have lyrics up, and short samples of their songs! The only other site I've been to that has that is Buck-Tick's website (www.buck-tick.com), and they don't have the lyrics up (which is quite frustrating!). So, if you're into TOOL or their type of darkish-commentary music, I'd suggest checking out their site 'cause it's really cool. I've never seen another official band site that posted their lyrics, has anyone else? I really like that.
Hmm... hopefully I'll have that songfic written out soon.... otherwise it'll just stay in my head forever.....
We'll see.

Moving -- what a pain in the ass...
Sep. 22nd, 2001 12:08 am...and the legs... and the arms... ohhh, especially the arms. Especially when you're lifting heavy boxes! Itai, ne? But it's also been quite fun, especially with Angelica (and Duo) helping out. =D Let's see...
On Monday we went and ordered a very nice dining room table. Too bad it won't be delivered until January because they have to get the frame in from Canada or something. Then we went and ordered my sister's new bed -- a queen size captain's bed. Very nice. (Kind of expensive.) Lucky her. I get stuck with her twin size storage bed. Actually, I like it a lot. I just wish I had enough room in the basement (which will be my room) for a queen size bed. ::sigh::
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we (my parents, my sister, me and Angelica) rented a van and brought our boxes full of stuff, plus some furniture (like bookcases, dressers, and stuff like that) to the new house. Which, btw, is about, uh, I'd say 15 miles away from where we are now. Except, well, that's a house and right now we're still in an apartment. That was lots and lots of tiring work. A whole lotta sweating going on. o.O*
Practically my whole room in the apartment was moved out over those two days. Is that good or bad? Whatever.
On Thursday we went to the house and started painting the basement. The previous owners had a 4 or 5-year old kid there so the whole basement was pastel pinks and blues with clowns -- CLOWNS, for chrissakes! So we had bought primer, plus 2 cans of white paint (Stone Arrowhead) for the basement. My mom and I put on the primer around 10, finished around 11:30. Went upstairs to my sister's bedroom (where the walls were also pastel blue and pink ::shudder::) and put primer on there, too (11:30 to 1:30). Then ordered food.
We were starving!
Then Angelica showed up while we were waiting for the primer in the basement to dry. It normally would've been dry at 1:30, but it was all rainy and humid outside that day so it took another hour and a half! So while we were waiting we unpacked the new dishes we bought and loaded them in the dishwasher.
So, finally went down and started painting. My sister was helping this time. We got that first coat on (eventually). The clowns and fish and things were still peeking through a bit, but the 2nd coat finished them off later.
Never did get a chance to paint my sister's bedroom. Well, it isn't so bad because her bed isn't being delivered until October 1st, so we have a little over a week in which to paint it. It should only take one day. A whole day, but only one. It's going to be white on 3 walls (Polar White), and green on the 4th wall (I don't remember exactly which green). Should look interesting & cool!
So today we packed up a lot of the stuff that was left at our apartment. We still have more stuff, but we'll have to bring that over between Monday and Friday because tomorrow (Saturday) two of my father's friends will be coming over to help us move the really heavy furniture (living room couch, 32" TV, my sister's storage bed which will now be mine, etc.). Then on Sunday, we'll move whatever furniture is left over. So Monday to Friday will be the rest of the junk in this place.
Oh, so today we also went over to the house (brought one or two boxes with us) and put down the carpet in the basement so that when they move the storage bed there tomorrow, it's all ready. All the walls are white. No clowns. It's SUCH a relief, you wouldn't believe!
::sigh::
Meanwhile, I forgot to mention.... I have a cold! So does my sister and father! Gah! Talk about BAD TIMING! Okie, I really have to go.... gotta get up early tomorrow and go work hard...
*oooooh~! But I got Koyasu 006, Crashers: Knight & Ran, and the new Schwein CD today! (My stuff from CD Japan!) Yay!
