Tuesday night I got home at 3am and had to wake up at 7am on Wednesday morning. Normally I'd be fine on 4 hours' sleep, but with working at the con this past weekend, not much sleep was had, so yesterday I was pretty tired.

Even so, last night I went to the dinner with my Japanese class over at East, a Japanese restaurant on 44th between 2nd and 3rd. They had Asahi Super Dry (yaye~), and the food was delicious! Yummy sliced beef wrapped around asparagus on skewers, shiitake mushrooms on skewers, excellent takoyaki!, the spinach was fabulous, the most delicious slightly-crispy okonomiyaki I've ever tasted. I really enjoyed having so many dishes to pick and choose from!

And it was really great to hang out and chat with my classmates outside of class. There were about 13 of us, including Miyashita-sensei and Asoma-sensei (the TA), and we all switched seats a couple of times so that we weren't stuck in one group the whole night. We met up at 6pm and intended to stay til 8pm, but we ended up finally leaving the place at around 9:30 or so. It's going to be fun seeing some of them again when I take the 5-6 class at the end of January. =D

And OMG, did I mention that Miyashita-sensei can really drink?! LOL. She's so cute.

Anyway, I must have gotten home around 10:45 or so, took off my coat and shoes, laid down on my bed and promptly passed out. Maryann was online using the computer in my room, but I doubt that even had my computer been free would I have attempted to go on it. I was really beat by that time. I barely moved all night, and forget about changing into pj's. Haha.

So this morning, even though I look awake, I'm still kind of bleary-eyed. All I really want to do is go home and sleep.

On Monday night, for a change, I got home a bit early for me and actually had some free time, so I decided to watch more of Firefly. I kept getting interrupted for some reason or another, so I only watched one episode before going to bed. But I realized I've never actually said anything about watching it, so

The first 7 episodes aren't so fresh in my mind anymore, but I do remember that I wasn't very impressed by the pilot episode. However, I kept watching and saw the actors settle more comfortably into their roles, and most happily saw Nathan Fillion become the Mal that I really like today. I think Mal was a bit shaky in that pilot and if he had continued to be that way I don't think it would have held my interest.

I can't remember the names of the pilot and his wife, but I think they're hysterical. I love the wife's personality and attitude and the pilot is just beyond adorable. (As a side note, I saw him in Death at a Funeral earlier this year -- he was wonderful, and probably the only thing that saved that movie from being a waste of time.) I also really like Jayne. He's just so dumb and funny and incidentally amoral, you can't help but like him (as well as be exasperated by him, but that's part of the fun). =D

Kaylee and the preacher get on my nerves. She's too naive and happy and optimistic, and the preacher is too... something. I'm not quite sure I can pinpoint the quality that I seem to be annoyed by. I think his mysterious history is intriguing and I definitely want to know more, but I suppose I wish he had less of a righteous attitude.

I like the doctor a lot, he's kind of nerdy (which I like), but has his moments of adventurousness. But I can't help but be annoyed by his sister. It's the same situation as the preacher; I am interested in the whole 'mysterious past' business, but I find the over-acting irritating. I'm not saying that playing the part more subtly would necessarily be better, but it tends to make me roll my eyes more than go along with it.

Oh yes, and Inara. I like her most of the time. I think the UST between her and Mal is cute and interesting. They're both really adorable in their denial of really liking the other. I like that she stands up to him and yet can act kind of stupidly around him too. But. There's also just something about her that leaves me feeling kind of eh. Like, there's gotta be something better...

Still, the show is entertaining enough. And since it's only one season long (plus movie), I'm definitely going to finish it. Right now, though, I'm more just entertained by it than really loving it.

Can we see more of Mal? And maybe throw Kaylee out the airlock? ^_~;

Your dinner with your Japanese class sounded like a lot of fun. Sounds like you'll catch up on your sleep soon. I love Firefly the series and the movie. Yumm, I think the leading character (for some reason my mind is blanking out on his name) is yummy.

I am glad you befriended me too! I love Firefly, I wish the sci-fi channel had done a better job of promoting the series. Most people think it's about cowboys in space : P. I was surprised that a movie was made.(but excited they did, but didn't like that a one of the main characters died, sob) I wish the series was still going on.
