NIN concert pics
May. 18th, 2005 10:50 pmJust for anyone who happened to be interested in seeing a couple of pics from the Dresden Dolls/NIN concert:
-when I was still up in the front: the one good pic I got of the Dresden Dolls
-from when I'd already retreated to the middle of the floor: trent 1 | trent 2
-after the concert Liz emerged, soaked to the skin, from the front row
-Alex on the train, waving goodbye

Tour shirt. Heh.
May. 17th, 2005 12:59 amWent to the Nine Inch Nails concert tonight. Got home about 1/2 hour ago. It was actually really good, even though I wasn't all that familiar with most of the set list. But the staples were so worth it: Head Like a Hole, Closer, Hurt, there were others though I can't quite remember them right now. That new one that's being played on the radio now.
The opening band was actually really awesome -- The Dresden Dolls. Liz got a CD sample of their music signed by them. They're a two-person band. Girl on the keyboard, vocals. Guy on the drums, guitar. I need to go buy their album. =D
The floor was packed! Once NIN started, I decided not to stay in the very front as I wasn't quite up to not breathing tonight. I slowly worked my way back. I ended up staying toward the middle-right, on the outskirts of a mosh pit. It was actually lotsa fun; I enjoyed bouncing around back and forth. Even the one time I got pushed down on the floor didn't bother me so much; I got up with a grin. LOL. There were some people nice enough to help me up -- two people offered a hand, and one was trying to pull me up by the hoodie wrapped around my waist from the other side of me. (Not only pushed down, but drawn and quartered as well!) My left foot totally aches (I know it got twisted a bit when I went down), and I think I have a bruise forming on the left side of my left knee -- from what I don't know. And my shoulders hurt. That area where the pit kept forming was really crazy and fun.
Liz, Juliet, Alex (from Boston) and I got separated pretty quickly. But I bumped into Alex a couple of times in the middle of the floor, which was kinda fun(ny). I never saw Liz or Juliet, but after the show we eventually found each other. Liz was completely soaked! She'd actually stayed there in the front the whole time. x_x; Poor Juliet -- it was her first concert. She was kinda scared, but had fun too. Poor Alex -- he had to go to Port Authority to catch a bus home right after the concert since he didn't have a place to stay overnight this time. =(
Oh yeah, I got a NIN tour shirt. Go me.

Come, I will undeceive thee...
Mar. 23rd, 2005 11:35 pmOh, how do I hate spring. The concert season is upon us and I already have tickets to the Nine Inch Nails concert on May 16th, as well as the Weezer concert on May 11th (Maryann's birthday)! And, of course, this is in addition to the Buck-Tick concert on April 10th (in Japan ::snicker::). Oh, and those B-T CDs I'm ordering from CDJapan...
I have become a concert junkie. It pains me.
In addition, I've been going to this goth-type club that meets once a month. It's lots of fun; I never knew I'd love dancing so much. Well, I should rephrase that. I knew I'd love dancing -- it just had to be on a packed, sweaty dance floor, with lots of strangers, and at least a few friends. They play a lot of music that I actually like -- some techno, industrial, metal, rock, some 80s stuff. A friend who I don't get to see very often, Raquel, is going to go this time! It's unfortunate that Maryann won't be able to go to this one, though -- it's going to be a prom theme, although only half the people, if that, really dress to match the theme. Maybe
louiex will go if I ask her to be my date. ^_~
Obviously, I need to find another dance club that plays the same type of music so I can go more often; not just once a month, and less dressed-up. ^^;

All the things that could've been...
Mar. 4th, 2005 02:57 pmNicky's here! All the way from Sacramento. She took a red-eye flight and I picked her up from JFK yesterday at 9am! We went to have a bite to eat at a diner, then back to my house to catch up on some much-needed sleep. In the afternoon we met Angelica and Maryann at the mall and ate some more, did a bit of shopping, ate again. Poor Nicky, though; she was apparently coming down with some sort of cold from the day before her flight, and right now she's laying in bed with the possible beginnings of a sinus infection. We had planned to go into the city today and shop around the village, but we changed that to hanging around the house today -- she's hoping that a day of bed rest will stop the illness before it really catches on. So people are coming over later to watch anime and hang out. ^^
In other exciting news, NIN is going on tour this year and there are 2 dates in NYC at the Hammerstein Ballroom. K-rock is having a pre-sale, so I'm going to try desperately to get three tickets (me, Liz, Angelica) for the 16th, but since they limit you to two tickets, Alex from MA is also trying to get two tickets (one for him & one for me). He's so nice. In fact, I wouldn't have even known about the K-rock presale unless he'd called me about it. The presale starts in about 3 minutes, so I'll hopefully be back to update more and let you know whether I was successful or not.
[edit/3:07pm] First attempt was unsuccessful. Limited presale tickets sold out in 7 minutes.
[edit/5:07pm] Second attempt successful! Three tickets to see NIN in (virtual) hand!
