Is anyone interested in going to see Dir en Grey on Saturday at the Nokia Theater at Times Square? Tickets are apparently still available, so I think I want to go. Tickets are $30 each, plus $8 convenience charge for ordering via ticketmaster.com.

If you let me know within a day or two, I'll order your ticket along with my own. (I just hope the tickets don't sell out. They did for the Avalon, but it's a million times smaller than the Nokia Theater...)

Surprisingly, the show wasn't that great. It wasn't bad, they sounded pretty good! But it really could have been better.

Frkboy81: how was the crowd? how'd it translate space-wise on the inside?
Koyasu no Miko: well, it was pretty filled up. unfortunately, we weren't in the front of the line, so liz and i were kind of in the middle of the crowd.
Koyasu no Miko: during the opening band's show, they had some trouble with the barricades between the crowd and the stage, so during the time between bands, they asked the crowd to "take 10 steps back" so they could fix and secure the barricades.
Frkboy81: woo they had barricades
Koyasu no Miko: but that sucked 'cause i'd just gotten to a good spot toward the front, and then after that i was back to where i'd started from.
Frkboy81: i forget, bigger act
Koyasu no Miko: also, dir en grey had rules: no crowdsurfing, no cameras, etc.
Koyasu no Miko: so the venue mgmt said that they'd basically stop the show if we broke the barricades again during the dir en grey show.
Koyasu no Miko: so it wasn't as "shovey" as the d'espairs ray concert, but the crowd was really bitchy, so it was really more annoying.
Koyasu no Miko: also, i couldn't see a damn thing because i was surrounded by tall people, and kyo is too short, and the rest of the band barely moved from their mic stands.
Koyasu no Miko: so yeah.

So that pretty much sums it up.

Man, there were some really obnoxious people in the crowd. And yet I was much more physically tired after the D'espairsray concert than I was for this one. I overheard one girl saying that it was a great show, but maybe that's because she's a big DeG fan? I'm sure if I were more of a DeG fan, I would have enjoyed the show more than I did. Angelica said she overheard another girl who'd apparently seen them before, saying that it wasn't one of their better shows. *shrugs* Who knows.

One interesting thing, though -- one of the official photographers taking "action" photos of the band was someone I know! How's that for coincidental? I doubt he'd recognize me, but he's the photographer who took Nicky's SG set when she visited last March.

Dir en Grey concert is tonight! In a few hours from now, actually.

I really wish I was feeling normal. I really want to be up near the stage, but I'll have to stand through one or two opening bands first... is it worth it? I think I just might go for it anyway; otherwise it'll be a missed opportunity. I guess I can always bail if I need to. I can't wait to take some pics!

I keep feeling like there are a whole shitload of things I have to do this weekend, so I'm going to make a tentative list so I don't forget.

DO LAUNDRY!

hang out with people for a while after work on Friday?
Matt's party Friday night

bleach & dye hair on Saturday
shop for toiletries to pack
get a haircut!
see Chris & Victor Saturday night?

shop with Angelica for stuff from Yoshi's wishlist on Sunday morning
try to visit Yoshi's house to bring stuff for him from his parents?
hang out with Liz and parents for the last time for two weeks

Some OMGness going around. Dunno if you've heard, most on my flist won't care, but Dir en Grey is playing at the Avalon here in NYC in late March. I purchased the tickets this morning and got in to work late (although I let them know I'd be a bit late, so it was okay). Tickets were $29 plus surcharges (came to $38 each), which is kind of expensive for an unknown band, but probably a lot cheaper than it would have been if the concert was in Japan. I, being the kind person I am, bought the tickets for everyone. But now I have no money until they pay me back. =(

I have been feeling very restless again lately. I didn't get to have a full weekend because I had to come in on Saturday, and I had work today too. I want to go out and do something. And I want to see [livejournal.com profile] loudnbothered and [livejournal.com profile] bondagepenguin 'cause I haven't seen them in WAY too long! Are you guys going to NY Comic Con? I'm pretty sure I remember that Chris is... is Victor also? I'll definitely be there on Saturday 'cause my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ARTIST OF ALL TIME, Brom, will be there! Also, he'll be at St. Mark's Comics later that night, so I'll be there too. Yes, I shall be stalker for a day. =D Saturday admission is $25. Anyone who wants to go and hang out together for the day is more than welcome and will be excitedly *glomped*!!!

Also. Saw 16 episodes of Eyeshield 21 last night with Liz. Very very cute. Lots of fun and laughs. It is very lighthearted and I really enjoyed it. It's not serious at all, there doesn't seem to be much angst and/or struggle. I've been more in the mood for angst and/or struggle lately, but it was still entertaining enough. I know that episode 35 just came out, so I wonder if it gets any more serious later...?

Oh, and I need to go back to dl'ing shoujo manga scanlations from IRC 'cause I realize that I have a serious need for girlie shoujo hot pseudo-pr0n. =D (I was up re-reading some of my Shinjo Mayu manga last night, LOL.)
