driving around taking pictures.

What a day; I'm beat. My father had a doctor's appointment today in the city (70th & Lex) so I went with him and my mom - we drove into the city, intending to park at a garage (further uptown) then take the bus. But my father was really feeling weak and exhausted, so I said I'd sit in the car if they didn't need me to come into the office with them. So we found a parking spot on 3rd Avenue between 70th and 71st (which was conveniently enough, a broken meter, so we didn't even have to waste any quarters on the spot). When they were done with the visit, my mom drove to work (44th & 1st) and I drove (yes, illegally again!) back into Queens.
Traffic was pretty backed up in the city, but we took the upper roadway of the 59th Street Bridge, then went over to enter onto the Long Island Expressway, then over to the Grand Central Parkway to get to Forest Hills to fill a few prescriptions. Poor Poppy; he was really exhausted - he mumbled in his half-sleep the whole way. Then after getting the prescriptions filled, I headed back toward Jewel Avenue to get to the Wendy's on Main Street to get some food for him for later, then finally toward home.
It wasn't bad driving; there were a few trouble spots, mostly because of my father's mumbling and his nervousness whenever anyone besides him drives. He's really a backseat driver; it's so annoying that I can't drive with him in the passenger seat when he's feeling normal.
I helped him from the car into the house and into bed. He was weak and tired, and just feeling shitty. The side effects from one of his new medications were really bad. It was then around 12:40pm. I set stuff up for him for later, and got myself ready to go to work.
I'm supposed to be at work at 2pm, but since Fay's not here this week (on vacation with Yvette & family in Argentina, yes!), Angelica was holding down the fort with Jeannette. After driving all around this morning, it was really annoying to have to leave the car in the driveway as I walked to the bus stop, to take to the train station, to get into the city for work. -_-;
Yesterday, I'd had this great idea of putting all my digital pics from my harddrive onto a CD to take to work so that I could show Jeannette 'cause I've been showing her pics of us at cons and stuff (since Fay isn't here this week and Jeannette's working all of this week to fill in, instead of just Thursdays and Fridays). So I did a rush job last night to put my pics onto a CD. They were mostly in order because I keep them that way on my harddrive, although there were some doubles, some pics in the wrong folders, and some turned in the wrong direction.
But today was actually a pretty slow day (conveniently enough), so I ended up going through almost all of the pics with her and Angelica (who stayed past her quitting time to hang out at the store and have fun looking at pics with us!). There's some pretty funny stuff in my pic archives (May 2002 - March 2004). I even brought my camera because I remembered that I should take a pic of Jeannette before I lose my chance to do it! And since Arthur (our UPS delivery guy) has been coming in to chat this week while the bosses are gone, I got him too! ^^ Aaron from across the hall came over to see what we were all looking at on the computer (porn?!), and at one point Angelica tried to get a shot of him, but he avoids cameras like the plague!
Arthur, Jeannette, Angelica and me (that timer button is a wonderful thing!)

Aaron is camera shy!
So when I got home I fixed up the photos on my harddrive so that everything was in the correct folder, position, and that there were no doubles, and copied it onto another CD. Can you believe that 2 years worth of pics (including cons!) only take up 550mb?! Less than one full CD! Really nice!

Date: 2004-03-23 11:28 pm (UTC)I'm sorry though to hear that your dad is having such a bad time right now. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing, and he'll start feeling better, soon. *hugs*
