I never thought I'd say it.
Jun. 4th, 2002 12:35 pmYesterday, work at GCS was fun! ::gasp:: Although it's not surprising, considering the bosses were gone the whole day and I was working with Angelica. Now there's a thing you rarely see. I was by myself from 8 to 1, then Angelica showed up and we worked together until 2:15, when I went on my 3-hour "break." I went to the post office to send a package back to Dawn, then went to the discount manga store to check on Basara for Christine, then went to Chinatown and bought another 10-pack of blank TDK VHS tapes, then went to see Tony. Wouldn't you know it, but the day I'm not expecting my tapes back, practically don't want them, he has them? So there I am, a box of 10 tapes in one hand, then a bag of about 13 tapes in the other... they were heavy!!! But there was more! I had to stop by Singapore Café to pick up lunch for Angelica and myself. So, in addition to carrying 23 tapes, I was also carrying 2 containers with Hainan chicken and rice, and 2 cans of diet Coke, and my shoulder-strap bookbag with a nice big hardcover book in it. That was fun.
When I got back to the store... Louie and Maryann, and Aaron from across the hall were all in the store talking with Angelica. Talk about weird. I expected to come back to an empty store, and instead everyone was there! I put my bags down with a huff and the first word out of my mouth was, "heavvvvyyyyyy." After putting the stuff away, Angelica showed Aaron her new tattoo. I discovered that the reason he had come over to the store to begin with was to ask her why she was all dressed up (she was wearing a skirt so it wouldn't irritate her tattoo too much) and she told him that she could tell him when I got back. I had mentioned to her earlier that I wanted to see his reaction. ^_~ Aaron's so kawaii; he immediately dropped into a crouch and inspected the tattoo up close, admiring the line work.
Well, by that time I was really tired and on the verge of starvation, so I dragged Louie and Maryann with me downstairs (into the food concourse) and proceeded to eat my Hainan chicken while they sat with me, talking about Otakon. Maryann couldn't come to this year's con, but she's getting a summer job and hopefully will be able to go next year.
When I got back to the store, I was still tired, but after a while with not too much more business, I got really giddy. I swear, it's all Angelica's fault. Not to mention, we had Aaron (from across the hall) and Darren (from next door) coming back and forth between our store and theirs, talking across the hall, etc.
It was lots of fun - I wish we could do that normally. It's a nice stress reliever, to be able to joke around with your neighbors. Like a breath of fresh air, before going back to work.
