I reccedwhiskyrunner's Rough Trade before, when it was part 1 of 2. Well it's finished now, and you need to go fucking read this. The pacing is perfect; there were so many opportunities for this to go wrong, to veer off into the stereotypical -- but it stayed true, and real, and took its time and let realizations turn into changes naturally rather than being rushed, explosive epiphanies.
Parts: 1, 2a, 2b

Date: 2011-01-07 03:15 pm (UTC)I had a moment, nearing the end of 2A, when I panicked, thinking OMG IT'S NEAR THE END, IT'S GOING TO BE THAT KIND OF FADE-TO-BLACK, MAKE UP YOUR OWN HAPPY ENDING sort of thing, but then I realized OH YEAH, SHE SAID SHE HAD TO BREAK UP PART 2 INTO TWO PARTS, THANK GOD!
