So yeah. I'm still interested in what's going to happen with Sam & Dean, but I've pretty much thrown in the towel with episode 3.
I was never a huge fan of the angels vs. demons storyline starting with season 3, but I was doing all right just going with the flow, sitting back and just taking it all in. There were definitely certain episodes that I had issues with. (That episode where Dean completely fails in living up to his potential in the torture business, for example.)
Now, though, that they actually confirmed my niggling suspicion that -- as Dean is the vessel for the "good" archangel -- Sam is, respectively and not at all surprisingly, the vessel for the "bad" archangel.
Ooh. How original.
I won't say I'm not enjoying certain scenes and exchanges and certain developments -- like the fact that Dean is not being self-delusional about being "chosen" and shit. And not being a stupid wishy-washy pansy-boy like he was in season 4. As for Sam, truthfully I liked the old, nice Sam more than I liked the more ruthless one -- and this Sam has a bit more in common with the old one that I prefer. I also do like Castiel. His literal-mindedness is highly entertaining and his ability to focus so intensely on his goals also makes him an interesting character as you don't quite know what he's going to do next. I also really enjoy his exchanges with Dean.
But none of that is really enough to outweigh my disappointment in the direction this whole storyline is moving. It's a much more typical route to go and I find myself sadly unimpressed. If the plot turns in an unexpected direction, I'd be delighted.
I know that a lot of people are really enjoying the angels & demons storyline. What is it that you're enjoying about it in particular?
On a side note, it was very interesting to see the reappearance of so many characters from previous seasons! I liked the brief reappearance of Meg in a different "meat-suit". And the scenes with Dean and Ellen made me happy as I think Ellen is pretty awesome. I still want to kick Jo's teeth in.
So, bring on the next episodes. Let's see where this takes us.
I doubt I'll watch more until around episode 6 or 7 at the earliest. I think I should go dl and watch the new season of House instead.

Date: 2009-09-29 07:26 am (UTC)Castiel is also making the show enjoyable for me. He and Dean play off each other very nicely. Misha Collins does a great job with him.
If you need help with Jo, let me know. I'd gladly hold her down while you kick her. ^____^

Date: 2009-09-30 02:40 pm (UTC)I could also watch Dean and Castiel do the Investigator thing more often. It was really entertaining! "He's not on a flatbread." LOL!
And yes, actually, I'm quite interested in the Horesemen as well! I thought the red mustang was an EXCELLENT pun! I enjoyed it VERY MUCH! I also really enjoyed the actor who played War. I'm curious as to what the others are like.
I think we should have a party. A Jo-Kicking Party! =D

Date: 2009-09-29 12:56 pm (UTC)And hey, I'd watch a whole season of Cas fails at undercover work much to Dean's long-suffering chagrin :D I doubt the boys'll be apart much longer anyway, Sam always gets into trouble without Dean there; I think this last episode cemented to himself that he can't really be left on his own to stick his head in the sand and pretend. AFter last season's completely unsympathetic turn (being angry with post-Hell Dean for not wanting to be as hardcore/fight like he once did after 40 years of hellish torment)it's a bit boring to watch him just roll around pouting and guilty, but hopefully he'll LEARN something~

Date: 2009-09-30 06:58 pm (UTC)In any case, I'm still looking forward to seeing where they take the plot. As much as I dislike certain things, I still like the show, I'm interested in how the characters are going to develop, and what choices they're going to make.
Sam is a bit boring at the moment, but I think his pouting is cute, and I like it when he feels guilty because, truthfully, I like to dislike him. =D
BUT YAY I LIKE SPN DISCUSSION WITH YOU! OMG, I forgot to mention how much I LOVE the insertion of fandom into canon! That fangirl -- rubbing Sam's chest when he asks if she can stop, and she says no! I DIED!!!! <3

Date: 2009-09-30 07:03 pm (UTC)Despite my dramatic "throwing in the towel" comment, I'm really still waiting to see what will happen! I still have a tiny seed of hope that they'll do something that will be unexpected, and make me happy!
As for House, I've just been SO BUSY lately that I haven't had a chance to watch it. I'm kind of waiting for Maryann to catch up (she's just about to start season 5) so that we can watch together. With the added benefit of being able to then watch a whole bunch of episodes all at once (which is how I prefer it).
I'm sure you'll see my comments once I've actually started watching season 6. (And unlike the end of SPN season 4, I LOVED the end of House season 5, and I waiting with trepidation to see what has happened to him!!)
