Finished the season! CRAZINESS! I absolutely LOVE what they're doing! The beginning of the season was slightly boring -- it became obvious at some point that they were setting up his "checked-out" kind of mental status, but I think where they've gone with this is a lot more exciting and interesting than some of the other plot lines they've done recently.
I hate that House is "losing his mind", but the potential for disaster -- i.e., House completely losing it -- will make his regaining himself that much better. I mean, let's face it -- we all know that there will be a season 6, so it's not like we're really worried that he won't get better.
I don't want House to change. Well, not much, anyway. I don't want him to be nicer; I don't want him to lose his sarcasm and cynicism and his not-so-occasional immorality. Because then he wouldn't be the House I know and love.
In fact, if those are the things that would change, I'd rather see him lose his mind. The hallucinations with Amber were AWESOME. SO CREEPY AND EVER-SO-SLIGHTLY EVIL. I mean, attempting to kill Chase with the strawberry allergy?! I LOVED IT.
Truthfully, I'd rather see House die than become "normal".
As to the whole House/Cuddy thing -- I think that was awesome. I'm NOT a big House/Cuddy fan. Really, I don't like them together. But I was excited to see House in a relationship. It's not like we'd ever see House and Wilson in anything other than a "bromance" and I don't really think I'd WANT to (I HATE that term with a passion, btw); I've always HATED Cameron -- and never really liked Thirteen that much, either. I LOVED House with Stacy, but that opportunity passed long ago. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WHEN THEY PUT WILSON AND
I LOVE that they brought Anne Dudek back (again!) and put CTB in that role. Obviously, the writers love CTB as much as I do. I will continue to tell myself that the reason they didn't pick CTB to stay back in season 4 was because they knew they'd have to have her and House get into a relationship and that might screw things up. Yep, I know I'm right. =D
Please, tell me YOUR thoughts on this whole thing -- even if you radically disagree with me. I'm very curious as to how other fans are feeling "divisive" over this!
Also, did I miss commenting on anything particularly juicy?

Date: 2009-05-31 09:47 am (UTC)I hate that they resorted to what I consider to be the two most cliche things to do with a single female character near the age of 40: get her into a romance with a male character (because God forbid a single woman have a happy life without a guy) and give her a baby (because everyone knows all women need to have children). For me, they ruined her character by having her desperately want a relationship with a guy who treats her like shit.
I would much rather see Cuddy with Wilson (or better yet, a new character). House and CTB would be much better, although my OTP for House is House/Stacy. I feel like they sold out the show to make one very vocal group of fans happy. Now all those women who want to have Cuddy be their Mary Su so they can imagine themselves having sex with House can be happy. (Except they're not. Go visit the House/Cuddy comm sometime. Those people are scary!)
Btw, Kutner was my favorite character. I understand it was Kal Penn's choice to leave, but I couldn't watch that episode because I hated what they did with him. Absolutely hated.
First Prison Break pissed me off, and I stopped watching. Now House has has become a soap opera and is doing the same thing. I hope Bones never does this, although in that show I adore the het pairings. ^____^

Date: 2009-06-01 02:45 pm (UTC)I don't really like Cuddy all that much, so I would be pleased if they didn't pursue the House/Cuddy relationship, but again, it was nice to see House kind of going through the dating dance. Though they've been setting Cuddy up for seasons about the baby thing, so it was bound to come to fruition.
And I think, for my own peace of mind, I'll just stay away from any House/Cuddy communities. =D

Date: 2009-06-01 06:59 pm (UTC)The more I see of Cuddy, the more I appreciate Cameron. At least Cameron had the sense to not wait around for a relationship with House. In many ways, I think she's a much stronger character than Cuddy.
Many House/Cuddy fans take every single interaction between House and Cuddy as a declaration of true love. It's sometimes funny and sometimes downright scary. Me, I'd want better for Cuddy. I don't think she has much self esteem if she allows a subordinate to treat her the way she does. It's hard for me to respect her as a woman when she wants a relationship desperately with someone who treats her so badly.

Date: 2009-06-02 01:18 pm (UTC)Anyways, I don't think that House in a mental institution, that place reeked of rehab...like real rehab, not the half assed one he did to appease Tritter (Sp? The d-bag cop) Also, House has always been, and always will be a soap opera...albeit the best one ever. As for House Cuddy stuff...well, you know she jocks his c**k honestly, but hates him too...and well, House would nail just about anyone, esp. if he knew they would hate themselves for sleeping with him. I felt that the mental breakdown was kinda disappointing in that I was hoping for something deeper, esp. with the death of Kutner, the impending death of 13, and Foreman's complicated situation. I suppose considering the show is named after House he has to be the focus, but the writers made the mistake of creating a whole cast of interesting characters in interesting situations, and fell into the trap of not being able to get to everyone. I mean, I really don't like 13 (She's actually Bones' sister in RL I think, so yay for fantasy incestuous threesomes w/me!)and Foreman feels like he's been neutered, but come on, she's gonna die, and he's barely human enough to maintain a relationship! Not to mention, he criticizes Cameron and her marrying the dying guy thing, yet he's on that same path! Come on! Like, rly, lets see some blood already....and to sum up my ridonculously long comment...did we need a cliche end of season wedding?
Grrr

Date: 2009-06-03 03:54 pm (UTC)But yes, end-of-season wedding cliche. What's funny is that Jennifer Morrison (Cameron) and Jesse Spencer (Chase) were going out and were engaged IRL. But then they broke up! I'm not sure if they broke up before or after the engagement/wedding stuff in the show, but -- it must be so awkward, I wonder? Especially if they broke up BEFORE the wedding scenes -- how weird it must be to act out a wedding which they were planning IRL and then CANCELLED? Boggles the mind.
