Just saw episode 20 -- Kutner kills himself?! WTF?

Unfortunately(?), I'm more saddened by the fact that Kutner's character is gone and left wondering exactly why Kal Penn wanted off the show than sad that he's dead. The mystery of why he killed himself is interesting, but that's about as far as it goes for me. I generally liked Kutner the best -- he was more amusing than any of the others and less irritating, but I didn't actually have all that much time to feel like I got attached to him (or anyone else, for that matter). I still miss Chase the most. =(

Is this the divisive thing that everyone's up in arms about?

There are only 4 episodes left, so I wonder.

NO SPOILERS FOR THE REST OF THE EPISODES PLEASE!!!

The actor left the show because he accepted a job in Obama's administration. How he left was up to the writers, lol! I saw an interview with him the day after it aired, and he was surprised when he saw the script.

The reason Kal Penn left is because he became Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison so they had to kill off his character so there would be no question about if he was coming back or not.

Kal says in some of his last interviews that he actually was playing Kutner in that episode. Those were his legs.

I remember when the spoiler was first leaked that a character was going to commit suicide. I remember saying that I'd be okay with it as long as it wasn't Kutner. I'd stop watching if it was Kutner, since I love Kal Penn. *headdesk*

I didn't watch the episode, but I found the interviews with Kal Penn, so I knew right away why he was leaving the show. I still don't like that they chose that way out for him. It makes me very angry too that didn't give any attention to his character all season until they wrote him out. I'm almost glad he left, because the series underutilized him. Instead we got tons of development for 13 (yawn) and a little for Taub (cheers).

I also didn't like that they set the audience up to think it was Taub, and then pulled a switch. I dislike that kind of manipulation. I find that to be lazy writing.

I'm still not sure if I plan to watch season 6. If it's going to be the 'Huddy and Foreteen' show again, I probably won't.
