Went with Liz, Juliet & Judy to see Wanted last night. Despite the "plot... or lack thereof?" part of this review, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Read on for more.

I don't actually have too much to say about Wanted. It was gorgeous eye candy. Action scenes were awesome. Fun situations and dialogue. Good sense of dark humor. I enjoyed Wesley's character. Angelina Jolie is fucking hot, even if she looks like an anorexic crack whore. If you go into this expecting it to be an action movie, you won't be disappointed. If you're expecting a complex plot, well... then I have to ask why exactly you're expecting a good and/or complex plot from an action movie -- what is this, the mid-90s?

It's not that it didn't have a plot, but the plot was overly simplistic. Which, perhaps, wasn't such a bad way to go. It certainly could have been worse. My biggest problem with this 110-minute movie was probably a 20-30 minute block somewhere just past the middle where they tried to explain his motivation in becoming an assassin -- not only to avenge his father's death, but also to go ahead and become an active agent in the Fraternity. WEAK!!! I'm sorry, but I'll suspend disbelief over curving bullets any day, over wanting to become your absentee father so badly that any sort of infinitesimal detail about his life causes you to totally change your personality. And even that I think I could have bought, had they worked harder to make you believe that he had any reason at all to trust that what the Fraternity was telling him was truth.

So, aside from this 20-30 minute block (which begins when Sloan takes him into his room and tells him it was his father's room), I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Someone said, "Oh, it's the kind of movie you watch the beginning of on TV and then change the channel halfway through." And I would almost agree, except that the ending action sequences are pretty too. Maybe even worth re-watching that middle block of annoyance.

Parts I liked most (for which I'd love to get my hands on some still shots for wallpapers):

(1) Wesley holds the gun to Sloan, then walks toward Fox, telling her that she should stay away from him. He repeats it a few times, then adds "please". She nods and has this highly amused look on her face as she turns her head over her shoulder to watch him leave. The amused look on Angelina Jolie's face is just TOO CUTE OMG!!!!

(2) Wesley finally blows up at his boss Janice, then takes his ergonomic keyboard and whacks his "best friend" in the face -- keys and teeth fly out and spell out "FUCK YOU" with an upside-down tooth taking the place of the last "U". SO FUCKING FUNNY! LOLZ!!!

OH! But the soundtrack was awesome! I need to get my hands on it! They also used one of my top 3 all-time favorite NIN songs -- Every Day Is Exactly the Same, from the With Teeth album. <333~!
