In other news, I finished downloading a couple of Wumpscut albums last night! Unfortunately I fell asleep before I could transfer them to my mp3 player, but I'm looking forward to listening to them! Also, Judy, I forgot to bring your external hd again, sorry. ^^; But I'll go over to the Japan Society today to pick up the book for you. =D

Yep! Didn't realize you had an LJ, but then I saw you on Judy's flist.

OMG, you love Jim Butcher too?! HE'S SO AWESOME! Do you read his Dresden series, or the Codex Alera series, or both? He just gets better and better with every book he writes -- in either series. I cannot wait til the next Dresden book comes out in April! =D

im a big fan of his dresden series. i got into it over the summer but work had me readin em slow. im almost done with book 5 and im in borders right now picking up book 6 XD im really liking his hard boiled detective feel, so im avoiding his high fantasy series til after the new dresden files comes out. i watched the first ep of the show and...i didnt like it. i havent seen bob GET a body yet in the novels, much less have that much free reign, and he had a fancy loft apartment? wtf? oh well, ill watch it after i finish the books. ..

Yeah, I saw the first couple episodes of the TV series and I didn't like it either. I stopped watching it. I also didn't like Bob having a body and the loft and -- actually, I could have dealt with all those things, but they really changed his personality from awkward and kinda bumbling to pretty smooth, which I did NOT appreciate. That was the thing that really bothered me. It just wasn't the Harry Dresden I wanted to see. The books are so much better, as usual. The Dresden books, in my opinion, start getting really good with book 5.

yea as soon as i saw dresden i believe an upper level of a well-furnished, sun-filled loft WITH A GIRL i was like wtf that's not right (lol i'm so mean to him)...bob a)outside of the skull on his own and b)with a BODY started turning me off from the series even more. i'll try to give it a fair chance but not til i've caught up with the books because they're much better and if you were to do these into film they'd pretty much have to go straight to the movies if they expect to keep the violence and graphic gore...and they'd better keep it if they did. harry's not supposed to be smooth. he's supposed to be bumbling, it's part of his charm along with his adopted chicagoism. and if they can't get that feel right...they need to get in advisors or a better director.

i'm almost done with book 5...i just passed cassius...DAMN was that part satisfying XD if that went to film it'd have to be one of those scenes that made you start to get sick to your stomach with the sound/sight (though not neccessarily seeing it) and the mental image of it happening...cuz you just know something like that has to hurt like nothing else. and the ensuing scene in the truck too :D
