The weekend was a blast. I rented a car to go out to Carrie's place, which probably cost us all more than we really wanted to spend, but I, at least, thought it was worth it. ^^ I love driving, so it was very nice to be able to take a nice day trip and drive a bit, but not for hours and hours on end.

Sean and I picked up the car from Newark Airport and then went into Manhattan to pick up Maryann and Judy. LOL, what an adventure that was. I got lost trying to find the Lincoln Tunnel, jeez. Signs in New Jersey are horrible. Really really horrible. Oh, but I skipped the part where I booked a compact car, but they didn't have any ready, so when I said I'd take an upgrade for free, they upgraded me to a small SUV. I really enjoyed driving that Mitsubishi Outlander. At least, after Sean figured out that it had a clutchless-manual mode and an automatic mode and figured out how to put it in automatic and I was able to go faster than 40mph. Hahaha. Otherwise he would have been shifting gears whenever I had to slow down or speed up. (And yet this is interesting for future reference because I've always said I'd like to learn how to drive manual, right?)

For anyone who's actually interested, apparently this is the third version of Mitsubishi's INVECS transmission, which is a continuously variable transmission. The second one having been based on Porsche's Tiptronic semi-automatic transmission technology. I guess I was kind of curious myself.

But getting back to the trip part, after we found the Lincoln Tunnel, I was back in home territory (and streets in Manhattan actually make sense), so it was all good. After we picked up Maryann and Judy, we headed back into NJ, and luckily there were no 6-hour side trips. ^_~; It was a pretty straightforward Turnpike-to-GSP drive. Very nice, in fact. Sometimes Often, I really wish I could afford to own a car.

When we got to Carrie's, we headed over to the boardwalk to play Pirate mini-golf, which was lots of fun! Even if par was obviously bullshit. ^_~; It was a really great time just hanging out in Carrie's yard, chatting, playing with balloons, taking pics with Judy's cool camera. I can't wait to see some of those, btw. There were also some chair fights, inflatable pool-hauling, balloon tossing, etc. The drive back was also really nice and I did my usual thing, dropping people off here and there before finally going back to Sean's.

Of course, I was really bad and did not go to that MangaNEXT meeting like I said I would.

In other news, my Japanese class starts today. I'm very excited to be going again. I haven't looked over any of my notes for several weeks, although I think I'll be alright. I'm more annoyed at myself for not studying kanji like I said I would. I only did a little bit and then I got really busy. Though I don't think they start teaching kanji until the second half of the course, but still. Have I mentioned this before? I feel like I'm repeating myself.
