Youji is a rockstar!

osarabaI like Nickelback. Yeah, they're a bit light, and yes, they have too many ballads. But I still like listening to them. I kind of forgot why for a while, but I was reminded at the concert tonight.
Even more, Nickelback is an awesome live! They really know how to put on a show! Maryann, Liz and I went to the show.
We decided pretty early that Chad Kroeger (vocals, guitar) is Youji (from Weiß Kreuz): tall with blonde hair, slightly flared jeans (he also reminds me of Urick from Drakengard)... the first song he sang, with visuals of the "open road" on the screen behind the band, with lyrics asking the girl to "just get in / just get in" to his car. It's Youji to a tee.
And then when Chad and Ryan (guitar, vocals) started to play their guitars kind of at each other... oh the yaoi that comes to mind. And it was really all Chad's fault for holding his guitar in such a position...
So then during on break they brought out some roadies to use hand canons to shoot things out at the crowd. The first guy he called to come out... I don't know what his real name is, but it really, REALLY sounded like "Schu"! Liz, Maryann and I looked and screamed at each other in laughter. But then the second person he called out was named.... BRAD! OMG! We were seriously dying with laughter and somewhat screaming our throats raw. We waited for the third person's name, but it wasn't anything similar to anyone in Weiß.
They played clips from Cowboys From Hell and other Pantera songs while a pseudo tribute to Dimebag Darrell played on the screen.
They played Tool while throwing cups of beer into the crowd. OMG, it was soooooo~ cute!
The drummer played a really awesome solo (contrary to Guitar Hero advice).
Chad asked someone from the crowd for his camera and TOOK A PHOTO OF HIM AND RYAN AND GAVE IT BACK TO THE GUY! How FUCKING COOL is that?! He said something about having something to show for it since he went to the trouble of sneaking it in. <3333333♥♥♥ I squeed over this for quite a while; it was just the nicest thing to do!
For the last song or two, Ryan was playing a clear Flying V. It was pretty.
I forgot to mention, of course, that they played songs between antics. I mostly wish they had continued their antics, played more metal songs, and maybe a couple of their own...
I never thought I'd even entertain the possibility, but I want to go to another Nickelback concert, and I want to be IN FRONT of the general admission crowd (instead of seated). Srsly.
P.S. None of us were able to leave early, so we totally missed the opening band, Breaking Benjamin. Three Days Grace was cool (and cute), but Nickelback (unexpectedly) totally stole the show!
