I want to comment on everyone's posts! I missed you guys so much and I didn't even realize. Sorry, that sounds so shitty of me. =/ But it's been so long since I've been around I feel slightly awkward about it. Like, "Oh hi, yeah, it's been a year and a half since I last exchanged comments with you. Maybe you don't even remember why we friended each other."

So many people on my flist are talking hockey and it's SURREAL. At the risk of sounding like a hipster, I've been into hockey for longer than I've been on LJ, and the relatively recent hockey(RPF)-fandom explosion of the last few years still boggles! It's awesome though, don't get me wrong! It's exciting and I CANNOT FREAKING WAIT TIL SATURDAY! I'll be watching the Kings/Hawks opener with two hockey fandom fangirls at LA Live (next door to the Staples center) -- do I wear my Kings shirt or my Hawks shirt?! And then going back to my place after to watch the NYR/Boston game on NHL Gamecenter Live. CANNOT WAIT.

Sad things happened this week with Pekoe. See previous posts for clarification. I compartmentalize reeeeallly well so I'm doing okay. Other than when I talk about it with my sister Liz or my bff Maryann, it's still sort of unreal. I always have severe delayed reaction with these things, I think. =/

Going to a metal show tomorrow (Friday) night to see Down with some guys I met at a Sword concert back in... November? No, mid-December. Won tickets so I didn't spend money I don't have. Also carpooling so I can DRINK!!! Which is good, because I needed the excuse.

Oops, sorry for the quick ups/downs! I feel like I'm reporting on what I've been doing while away from LJ, as if I have to catch you up on what's passed. Hah, I assume this will change into more organic posting soon enough.

December 2010: The Sword (with Karma to Burn) at Webster Hall, NYC.

This was probably my most favorite show ever; it rocked in so many ways. So much stoner metal, I was blissful. Got a good drunk going and that adds to it, but the music AND THE CROWD were just, ugh, the best! I was in the second row of the crowd standing right behind this guy that I was sort of hanging onto, like you do at concerts, who was a sweetheart. The mosh pit was literally right behind me and once when I experienced a sort of undertow from the moshing crowd he felt me instinctively grab at his shirt to maintain balance-- but instead of getting pissed or whatever, he stuck his (very muscled) arm out behind him so I could latch on. *____*

Later during the show I was more actually in the mosh pit and -- seriously, it was the best pit -- I got knocked down and it was hard to get up with all the bodies around me. THREE GUYS behind me all went to lift me up at the same time. It was slightly unexpected, but lol, the force of all three of them helping me up actually lifted me off my feet! I turned around and hugged the one behind me and was like OMG THANKSSSSSS!

When the show was over and the space had mostly emptied out I was walking across the mostly-deserted pit area. There were five or six guys standing in a circle, talking, and as I walked past one of them said, "oh hey, are you okay?" I was surprised for a sec, and then realized he must've been one of the guys who'd helped me up earlier, so I said, "Yeah, oh my god, thanks for helping me up!"

THIS is what mosh pits should be like. Don't let anyone tell you different.

List of all days.

...but this weekend I've been sort of bouncing off the walls, full of energy and excitement and fun! (Which, let me tell you, hasn't happened in longer than I can remember.)

overly excited babble about how much I enjoyed my weekend! kind of just for posterity... )

So basically TL;DR: everything was cinnamon schnapps and nothing hurt (including my busted knee) and THIS WAS ME ALL WEEKEND:

OMG I don't want to have to go to work tomorrowwwwwwwwww. T_T

ETA: Awesome thing I can't believe I forgot to note was that when we were walking to the car on Sunday morning we passed some guy who had just come out onto the front stoop of his building and I noticed he was wearing a The Sword band tee. I wanted to say something, and hesitated for a moment, but I was kind of like, well fuck it, I'm happy, it's sunny, I'm SO in the mood to go to a concert and I'm SO looking forward to The Sword show in September-- so I said, "Hey, are you going to see them in September?" He was surprised and like, "what?" "The Sword -- your shirt..." "Oh! When are they playing?" "In September, with Kyuss!" "I didn't know! That's awesome, I missed the one that they rescheduled last year!" "Oh man, that one was so good, sorry you missed it! Hope to see you in September, then!"

The whole exchange put a huge smile on my face. I think AJ possibly thought I was adorable like a child. Hee.

osaraba: (sherlock sh under observation)
One thing I adore about the new Sherlock is its quotableness. <333! Sherlock is brilliant and cutting-- just as he should be.

Friday night I watched episodes 1 and 3 over with Juliet. There was much fangirlish squeeing. It was adorable and disgusting by turns. UGH. THIS SHOW IS JUST. SO. FUCKING. GOOD.

Here's a really interesting AU by [livejournal.com profile] rubberbutton, in which vampires have enslaved humans and control, well, everything: A Priori. And then there's the sequel: White Noise. A pretty fresh take on the whole vampire thing. And an interesting perspective on the dynamics of the relationships between Sherlock and John, Sherlock and Mycroft, and Mycroft and John. ...and then there's a touch of Moriarty, which I hope anticipate being followed up on in another part.

This, along with my undying love for [livejournal.com profile] wordstrings's Paradox series, tells me that I take my headcanon!Sherlock with a good dose of teh crazy (and my headcanon!John with a dose of the helplessly enthralled).

This? Doesn't come as much of a surprise to most of you, I know.

ION... I am SO ACHY FROM MOSHING you would not believe! Bruises on my arms, aching muscles and god, my feet hurt so much. I also have a cut on my neck and I have no idea where it came from. At first I thought it was from my earring, but I really don't think it reaches that spot... but who the hell knows. Could've happened at any point during the moshing, or possibly one of the several times I was pushed down? The three of us were satisfyingly (but achingly) exhausted after the show; Liz and I took a cab home and promptly fell asleep for a good TEN HOURS WTF!

AHAHAHAHAHAH!

Remember back in August, when I posted my lament that The Sword would be playing the weekend I was in Chicago for [livejournal.com profile] wincon?! Well, the show was cancelled (I can't quite remember why), but it has been RESCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY!!!

Webster Hall
Sat, December 4
6:30pm

Tickets are just under $25, including fees, AND I ALREADY BOUGHT MINE!

I AM SO HAPPY. I HAVE GONE/AM GOING TO SO MANY AWESOME CONCERTS THIS YEAR! \o/
osaraba: (hd band b&w)
The Sword is playing Webster Hall on Sat 10/16 (advance tickets $17.50), WHEN I WILL BE IN CHICAGO. They will be ending their tour IN CHICAGO on Sat 10/23, FOUR DAYS AFTER I LEAVE CHICAGO. WTF!

The Sword will ALSO be playing IN BERLIN on 11/15, you know only A WEEK BEFORE I INTENDED TO BE THERE. They'll be in Koln on 11/23, but that's a 5.5-hour drive from Berlin.

WHY MUST YOU BE LIKE THIS?!

...anyone want to drive with me from Chicago to Cleveland for their Tuesday 10/19 show? I'm actually seriously considering it, since I'd only have to rent a car for the one way and fly back home from Cleveland, since I haven't bought my flights to Chicago yet... it's only a 5.5-hour drive...

***

ALSO! Primus is on tour (as [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds knows). At least THEY have the decency to be playing Sat 10/9 -- the weekend BEFORE I go to Chicago -- though tickets are $40 and it's at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. Where the hell is Montclair, NJ anyway?! And if I have to drive, that means I can't drink...

If anyone wants to join in on any part of this, let me know!
