So at some point over the weekend, Liz was reading up on GHIII and Rockband and somehow came across something about Wil Wheaton speaking at the opening ceremonies at PAX. Of course I immediately texted Sean to find out if it was true. Heehee. It was. And guess what Sean brought back for me? One of Wil Wheaton's books, The Happiest Days of Our Lives, autographed!

I started reading it last night; Wheaton really knows how to tell an engaging, interesting short story. The little mentions here and there about TNG and its cast of course help to keep one interested, but it isn't even necessary. It's also really great because he's obviously just as big a nerd or geek as one could hope for. =D He mentions going to cons, both as a fan and as a guest. Unfortunately, it's a pretty quick read -- I'm already halfway through the book. But I think I'll check the other two he's written out of the library (if they have it).

I also have to update on some of the other stuff I've read recently. Most memorable was Paul Auster's Travels in the Scriptorium, which was also very entertaining. I really enjoyed Auster's voice, and quirkiness, and the spacing of somewhat-abrupt scenes that kind of knock you out of the story a little bit, but with an odd, wry sense of humor. All you can do is giggle and shake your head in response. Looking back, I think those were my favorite scenes.

Has anyone read anything by Auster before? Any recommendations? He seems to be quite prolific, so I'm not sure what else to check out.

Oh yeah, regarding GH3 and Rockband, Liz wants me to ask if the GH2 guitars will be compatible with GH3 and/or Rockband. Uh, I guess they'll be compatible with GH3, but Rockband? [livejournal.com profile] nerd_avengers, I know you guys will know the answer.
