Wireless freedom?

I just heard one of the other young consultants who works at a desk near me saying something like, "what other games do you have for the PSP?" LOL. That certainly woke me up a bit. (I'm horribly sleepy today, I really didn't get enought last night.) Anyway, then he said something about really liking that Metal Gear (Acid?). I know there's Metal Gear Solid, but it really sounded like he said acid. =D

Well, I brought my sexy laptop with me to work today, and turned it on briefly this morning to retrieve some files. I/It did a scan for a network to piggyback off of, and it listed several, but when I picked one at random, it didn't seem to connect.

Angelica said one of her co-workers "did something" to her laptop so that it would "work anywhere." Does anyone know more about this? This is my first laptop and I'm not really all that familiar with wireless networks (especially wireless-network-piggybacking) just yet. ^_~;

I wish I could help you out, but I'm pretty clueless. I usually just use my laptop at home. I have a network card so that I can access my LAN. Jay had to set everything up for me.

Good luck figuring it out. Maybe you could try Googling an answer.

That's a good suggestion, thanks. Truthfully, so far, I don't think there are any other modifications I can make, but if/when Angelica's friend gets back to me, we'll see what she says. ^^

There is a game called Metal Gear Acid for PSP. Its a card based Metal Gear game and was released with the launch of the system.
As for laptops, you can get a wireless network card that will allow it to work as long as its in range of a sever. Prior to leaving nyc only a few places had such servers but know I would think they are everywhere. Thats all I know about em I wish I had one.

I do have a wireless network card for my laptop, and yes, if I'm in range of a server/router, I can potentially get internet service. However, some areas are set for restricted access, where you'd have to sign in with an ID and password to get access (like within a hotel or something similar). I don't really know what Angelica's friend did to her computer, so I don't know if it's really anything different than what I already have. Anyway, Starbucks has "T-mobile Hot Spots" but you have to pay a fee. =( I'm pretty lucky, there must be someone in my neighborhood who has a router 'cause I'm totally stealing the connection, LOL! It's soooo great. Come to think of it, I live down the block from the Queens College Campus, I wonder if their routers reach all the way here... ^^

You should really get a wireless network card for when you come back, though, 'cause it's so sexy. =D
