One of my favorite authors is still Kracken. She has three ongoing 1x2 stories that I'm reading now: Burning Candles (where Duo and Heero are Preventers and Duo has been kidnapped by some very bad people); Instincts (the boys as were-creatures), and Tiger Lilies (where Heero is trying to discover why Duo is so down on his luck). They can all be found at Kracken's site. You can also find her recently finished one, Lawless Hearts, there, too. They aren't about magic, but they do have lots of angst.
If you haven't read it yet, you should check out Sol's Find the Moon at scimitarsmile.com. It's a GW/FMA crossover that's really good. Duo ends up in Ed and Al's world. ^___^
