Dune on the Sci-Fi channel

Has anyone else been watching the recent remake of Frank Herbert's Dune on the Sci-Fi channel?
It's good, but it's also really bad. The acting sucks. I mean, it's really bad. And I guess it must be a low-budget film or something because the special effects, the scenery... it's all horrible. There are some scenes where you can practically SEE the spotlights. It's just... yuck!
The original movie wasn't all that great, but for the time it was good... and in comparison to the recent one, I'd have to say that it's a LOT more believable. It's kind of sad when you think about it.
The only thing I like about this one is that it goes deeper into the story than the original movie does. I haven't read the book, or the series... so I don't know how true it stays, but it does seem to have more of a background than the original...
But, jeeeeez, couldn't they have spent a little more on the set design? ::wince::
