Random musings, and a tie!
Nov. 29th, 2002 11:59 pmWork was horrible! Not in the sense that I had to restrain myself from strangling Fay, but that it was such a slow day, and yet I think I sat down a total of 5 minutes -- and not all at once, either. I spent the whole day packing gifts up to send at the post office and clearing space against the back wall for some new spring clothes. Also, my wisdom tooth has been trying to come in again, so I have a raging pain in the back of my mouth, which causes serious headaches and fevers. Not fun. I have to have my wisdome teeth pulled pretty soon, but
baiko's description of her swollen face is not exactly encouraging. I'll have to do it when I know I won't have to be seen in public for a few days, at least.
After work, Angelica and I were trying to decide where to go for dinner, and since we got paid and haven't done it in a while, we went to Uno's for dinner and drinks. I had my usual Bacardi Strawberry Daquiri and Angelica had her usual Appletini (apple-flavored martini). The vermouth was really delicious today. I swear, though, we have to find a place to go for drinks where the food is a bit cheaper. What do you think about this; next time, we'll go play pool (which I have the urge to do now, after watching the trick pool game), we'll eat at Wendy's first, so we're not hungry (and it's cheap), then we can get one drink each at the billiard hall -- and it'll all come out to just about the same as if we'd eaten at Uno's! I want to do that next week.
Sharon mentioned that she's definitely looking forward to seeing us on Saturday, but DC has not yet replied to me with their itinerary, so I have no idea when to meet, nor what we'll be able to fit in. I hope it's quite a few hours. Angelica told me tonight that DC was interested in getting piercings -- is that true?! If so, then I'd love to be able to take them down to the village where we get our ears pierced. Earlier I had this vision of DC refusing to get pierced before seeing the Foo Fighters look-alike pierce someone else... but for some reason, there was no one else waiting to get pierced... so I volunteered to be pierced. But since I don't have any money, it would be just a piercing, a demonstration, with no actual earring to hold the hole open. I called Angelica and told her of my musings, but she just called me baka.
After eating, we went home. I went downstairs into my room and turned on the TV where the Rangers were playing at Dallas. The Dallas Stars are the best team in the Western Conference right now, and I believe are also the best team in the whole League. After last night's debacle, I wasn't sure they'd start with Blackburn, but they did; and it's a good thing, too. I only caught the last 5 minutes of the third period, where they were already tied 3-3, and the 5 minutes of sudden-death overtime. But no more goals were scored, so at least the Rangers got a point for a tie. Which, as JD said, it's a big point for the Rangers, especially after last night's loss.
I've realized that one of the reasons I like watching Rangers games over other teams is that (besides the fact that I'm a Rangers fan) the two regular announcers (John Davidson "JD", and Sam Rosen) are really good announcers -- they don't just narrate every play, like you would if you're announcing for a radio audience -- they talk about the players, and they describe motives behind the actions that are taken. They really make the game informative, rather than spectative (is that a word?).
Oh! Last thing... you know that comedian I love, Eddie Izzard? Well, he's going to be in town this Tuesday, and, like the Queer as Folk signing, I'm so going to be there! I can't wait! (Only, it's too bad he has a beard right now; I'd decided I didn't like it.) ^_~

Date: 2002-11-30 02:48 am (UTC)Well, damn her! Actually, I had lunch with her yesterday. I think she didn't really get online much the last few days. She muttered something about having to write some thrice-damned contest fic... *grin*
I think we're either leaving PA at 6 or 7 am. for NYC, and I think we're there until 5 or 6 pm. I don't have the poster at home to check. I know DC had a few things she wanted to see and do, so I can't say anything about what we'll be doing. Jay and I plan to let her lead us around.
Angelica told me tonight that DC was interested in getting piercings -- is that true?
Uh, that's news to me. I think we should make her do it. Hehe. Just don't ask me to get anything pierced. I had a bad enough time getting my ears done once! I'll just continue to admire your jewelry. *grin*

Date: 2002-11-30 10:49 am (UTC)A scary prospect. LOL. But it sounds like you'll have about 6 hours of free time, so hopefully I can take you to at least the discount manga/cd store. And, hopefully, she'll get back to me about when/where to meet you... before you guys arrive here in NYC. ^_~
I think we should make her do it. Hehe.
See?! You ARE evil! ^_~ I love it! I think we should make her do it, too!

Date: 2002-12-01 01:05 am (UTC)That would be very cool! I have some Gravi manga that I'd like to get.
And, hopefully, she'll get back to me about when/where to meet you...
I'll look (when I get to work tomorrow) at the flier for the trip. You'd think I'd remember it since I made it. I can at least give you our ETA and where we'll be let off.
You ARE evil!
Yippee! I'm evil!!!
