Yay for days off!

Thurday morning we woke up around 12:30, which was really nice. We got ready to go have lunch at Sizzler, which we almost invariably do on the holidays. It was okay – at least we didn’t fight, which is another thing we invariably do on the holidays. After eating at Sizzler, we went to the Chinese supermaket in Elmhurst (Kam Lun). They didn’t have the Thai noodles that I usually get from there, which really pissed me off, but I did see yet another friend from high school, who also goes to NYU – Karishma. It was so weird; my father was looking for the dried wakame seaweed, and a girl, carrying 2 bottles of soda, said “excuse me,” and reached for the sugar above my father’s head. I looked at her and went, “hey!” I admit it, I forgot her name for that split second that I had to say something to get her to notice me. But she looked back at me and recognized me. She asked if we usually shop there and I told her that we do for specialty stuff, and she replied that her number hadn’t changed so I should give her a call.
That’s, what, the fourth old friend I’ve seen in the last 3 weeks? (I can’t remember if I mentioned seeing Vanessa on the train the other day…?) I swear, when it rains, it pours.
Well, after getting back home, my parents went upstairs and Liz and I watched the trick pool semifinals and finals on ESPN. That was a lot of fun – some of those tricks were so cool; it baffled the mind as to how they did them! While watching that, Liz went into the kitchen and I asked her to throw me a clementine (my favorite fruite – and they’re finally in season again!). So she did, and we ended up playing catch with several clementines. But then we ate them, so Liz went and got her handball and we played with that for a while.
But when the trick pool championship game finished, it was just in time for the Rangers game at Atlanta. During the pre-game show, Liz and I had fun trying to take pictures of ourselves together. Liz kept flinching because the flash would blind her, and I kept cracking up because all the pictures came out with her eyes half or fully closed. It was too funny! It’s so much fun hanging out with her (except when we’re fighting… but even then, it never lasts long under the onslaught of the sisterly adoration we feel for each other).
But when the game started, we stopped to watch. We shouldn’t have bothered; it was a horrible game. It didn’t start out bad, though. Rangers made the first goal at 1:34 into the first. Atlanta got a goal toward the end of the first, but Lindros got the 2nd goal at exactly 1:00 into the second. But then Atlanta tied it up and got a third goal shortly after. Rangers tied it up at just about 40-something seconds into the third period, but it didn’t last. I think Leetch got the fourth goal, tying it up with Atlanta, but then Atlanta beat poor Blackburn 3 more times for a final score of 7-4. It was painful. We stopped watching at about 5 minutes left in the third to watch the comedian, Eddie Izzard instead.
Izzard is so hysterical; I’ve watched his Dress to Kill so many times, I know most of it by heart. And since my mom had told me earlier that it was going to be on, I got a chance to tape the whole thing, from beginning to end! On Wednesday night, I’d gone online to update my LJ, but when I was done I left Liz’s AIM away message on, and left the computer on because I thought she was going to go back on. Well, it turned out that she didn’t ‘cause we ended up playing Tekken 3 and Street Fighter EX 2 for a few hours. But it was a good thing I left her AIM on because when I went upstairs at about 1:50am to turn it off, I saw that Louie had IMed her about 8 minutes earlier – to tell me that Izzard was going to be a guest on the Craig Kilbourn show in a few minutes. Lucky~! And isn’t Louie great? She knows how much I love Eddie Izzard. So I got to see him without his makeup on. And he had a beard! And he is so short! It was so weird.
It was so disappointing to remember at 10:30pm that I had to get up early for work the next morning. =(
