Well, if you ever get into stretching, you'll know who to call to get supplies from. They're like tats, though, omg SUPER ADDICTIVE. Hahaha, I said, way back when I started, that I'd stop at 6ga. Even though I stopped there for a couple of years, you can clearly see how well that worked. I mean, I've gone a couple years without getting a tattoo, too. =/

How do you even start? Ahahaha this is seriously the one aspect of body mod I never did my research onnnn. Like, I'm assuming most standard ear piercings are what, around a 20/18g? How do you work from that to a larger gauge right off the bat?

("Larger gauge right off the bat" meaning like, up to a 16g from the 18 or whatever follows logically. Not from the tinies to an 8g or something. *hands* Look at me, being all lazy and using you as google. :|)

Now, for the actual info:

Yeah, most gun piercings are around 20/18g. If you've had piercings since you were a kid, and actually wore/wear earrings, your holes might be able to accommodate a 16g already. For the smaller sizes (up to 12g, maybe 10g) you should really just be able to buy the next size jewlelry, and just shove them in (with lube, e.g. olive oil, jojoba oil). Ahahahah, oh god, this sounds way more sexual/violent than I intended....

After that, it's kind of still the same, though-- warm water to loosen the skin, use lube and basically push a taper through to stretch to the next size.

You can certainly use tapers for the smaller sizes, and I think I did for 10g and 8g, but it might be a waste of money; you'd be better off getting stainless steel talons in those sizes because they're tapered at the ends too, and then you can just wear the jewelry instead of buying tapers AND jewelry. I guess that goes for the bigger sizes too, actually.

I used heavy jewelry to weigh down and stretch my lobes from 6 to 4 because they were just so tight. And I think that's inadvertently what happened to go from 4 to 2 so "quickly" (it's been a few months), but it's not the smartest way to do these things as it tends to stretch the skin downwards, meaning if you go into the bigger sizes your lobes might be thinner at the bottom than you really want them to be.

I'm going to try not wearing heavy jewelry now (even though I actually LIKE it), and just grit my teeth and stretch the smarter way to go from 2 to 0 and then to 00. (00 is my goal and stopping point.)

Uhhhhh, it's hard to answer that second question. I started stretching my first holes (which were pierced originally when I was 12) when I was maybe 19? [ETA: Oh yeah, and I'm 30 now, so approx 11 years and 3 years of that was when I stayed at 6ga because I just wore glass plugs to work every day and they are suuuuper light.] But I took waaaaaaaay longer to go from size to size than you really have to and it was mostly because I'd just stretch whenever I felt the urge to get another ear piercing because it was all sore and basically took the place of getting another piercing without the cost. I mean, I realized pretty quickly that I only had a certain amount of space on my ears, you know? So I had to pace myself. Um, why no, I don't have... a pain/piercing fetish or anything.... Um.

In a general sense it's recommended that you wait at least a month between stretches. But I know that (even past a month) my ears' sensitivity have flared if I randomly slept wrong on my jewelry, and I took that as an indication that they weren't completely healed. So, I'd just go with at least a month between stretches, but also whatever feels right thereafter.

BTW, clearly I am totally cool with answering questions regarding stretching if you ever need it -- even after you do more proper research. <3

THIS IS MORE OR LESS WHAT IS REALLY PIQUING MY INTEREST. :| Can't afford the tattoos, can afford but can't justify the industrial I want to re-pierce, aaaaand I figure I can do the majority of the initial stretching without actually spending much money at all. I just need the piercing ache back, okay. /0\ My tongue healed too damn fast.

Yeahhhhhh. (Though nothing is standing out in my mind, so please send me whatever you're thinking of!!!) =D But mostly they seem to be part of Brendon's pain kink. And not that I'm complaining about that or anything (because, yeah, no, definitely not complaining), but none of PATD is covered in tats like some MCR or FOB guys and that's one thing I'm super jealous about!

I AM ACTUALLY REALLY BITTER THAT THE ONE THING (in my mind) THAT PREVENTS SPENCER SMITH FROM BEING THE ACTUALFAX MOST PERFECT PERSON (despite the fact that he's already flawless) IS A SEVERE LACK OF INK. WHAT THE HELL, MAN? YOU NEED TO BE INKED. YOU MAY NOT KNOW IT BUT YOU DO.

Ummmm, forgot to say, there's some soreness of course, but the stretches weren't at all painful til I tried to go from 6 to 4. I know that there are some tricks for helping to stretch gradually, like wrapping teflon tape around your jewelry and slowly adding more and more. (Teflon tape sticks to itself by static, so there's no adhesive or anything toxic or icky.) And I actually tried that at one point but like I said, my holes were so tight it really didn't work for me. Maybe it'll work for the 2-0 or 0-00 stretch though...
