day 02 - your least favorite song

Ahaha, this one was hard to do, too! Same argument: THERE ARE SO MANY. I kept thinking of songs I used to like but now get annoyed at... mostly because I'd heard them too much -- either by choice, or because they were overplayed on the radio.

I'm sure there are songs I actively hate more than this one, but Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive is one that I've always disliked. It's kind of surprising, wouldn't you say? I mean, the narrator's in a sympathetic situation; the song is catchy; it's about a strong woman doing strong, positive things. I DON'T KNOW WHY I HATE IT. Partially it's the music -- I am SO not a fan of disco. But I think I could've gotten over that considering how catchy it is, how much it leans toward pop. But it only exacerbates my dislike.

Even though the negative is barely a third of the song, I get kind of stuck on it. I get angry that she didn't think to make him leave his key; I get angry that he's around again and trying to win her back. I can't seem to get past it. What is it they say about first impressions? *shrugs*

Line that irritates me most: i should have changed that stupid lock / i should have made you leave your key

That's ridiculously hilarious. *grin* Even though you do have a point. Whenever this song comes on I just think back to rollerskating around the rink with my friends.

Whenever it comes on and I'm with a certain bunch of my friends, they'll all break out in song and while it makes me groan and *facepalm*, I also think it's adorable because the song really is an anthem, you know? Which is why it's so weird I can't get over my dislike of it. Oh well.

It's probably my own stubbornness.

I'm giggling at your disco!BOOOOs while, at the same time, fistbumping you for your utter dislike of this song. In truth, as much as I like disco (not love it mind you, just like it enough to enjoy an hour or two of disco song after disco song), this one raises my hackles really high.

It could be that's overplayed (as in EVERY party I've gone to and, pretty much, EVERY gay club I've gone to in my life) will, without a doubt, play this song at one point or another.

And, I don't think it's that great of an anthem, really. Unpopular opinion Luce has an unpopular opinion. :-/

Huh, I'm always surprised when I hear that another person doesn't like this song -- it really does seem like everyone loves it. BUT OMG HELL YES IT'S OVERPLAYED. I feel like I've come to tolerate the song more than I started out just because I'd go freaking crazy if I let it bother me every time I heard it played. =/

Also, BOOOOO DISCO.
