So suchdisguise (aka ifeelbetter) posted an offer to write commentfic based on location. I normally don't make prompts and probably wouldn't have, but she mentioned being inspired by the Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva for a previous fic and I had one of those oh moments.

I've wanted to visit the the praying hall of the Great Mosque of Córdoba for the. longest. time. Okay, so technically, almost 12 years now? Since that AP Art History class I had in senior year of high school. (That's pretty equivalent to "the longest time", I think.)

In any case, the commentfic she wrote in response was just perfect.

I'm going to get there one day, and then I'll think of this moment, and it'll be even better. I think in some ways the Moorish arches are to me what Penrose stairs are to Arthur. Or vice versa.

I just... grrr, I'm planning on a trip to Berlin in April, and can't afford/justify a trip to Spain. I keep doing this, but sigh... maybe next year. =/

My dad (and us) were stationed there for four years. *hides*

If you go through Iceland, you can get some really affordable flights. Something I've discovered looking for flights to Malta.

Hah, I've often wondered what it's like to move around frequently (I've been in NYC my whole life). Where else were you guys stationed?

I meant to go to Iceland two years ago when flights were insanely low but I think I went to London instead. LOL.

Heh. It's...hard, but I'm pretty introverted so it worked out okay for me while I got used to places and made new friends. But Ohio originally. Long Beach, CA. Rota, Spain. Chicago, IL. San Diego, CA. Seattle, WA. And then I'm in Idaho now at college.

I'd love to go to London, but Malta...and and Italy and and yeah.

Hmm, I'm introverted too and I'd have thought it would be harder than being extroverted, but actually it's more because I'm shy than introverted that would've been the difficulty. So yes. =D

I've never been to Seattle, though I'd like to visit eventually. I've been to Chicago twice, and really enjoyed it there (despite all the early-closing places)!

That's so lovely!!! I'm not particularly religious myself but there's some kind of reverence I feel when visiting cathedrals and the like.

I just feel the simplicity of the design juxtaposed with the majesty of the room -- I've always felt awestruck by it. It seems both vast and enveloping at the same time. <3
