Why would the Habs trade Halak to STL for prospects? I mean, even including a good prospect. WTF YOU MAKE NO SENSE, HABS.

But actually, this is okay with me because I was never a huge fan of the Habs, so I can go back to being mostly-neutral. Now I just like Cammallari and want Gomez to get injured every time I see him. Preferably by Cammallari.

ALSO! JD gets Halak! I could probably become a pseudo-fan of the Blues if I watch enough of their games. They've already got JD so I'm halfway there. So what if JD isn't a player.

Damn, I forgot STL was in the same division as CHI. Well, that's okay. Shhh, don't tell anyone but I don't always hate division rivals of even the Rangers.

I'll cheer for the Hawks to win in the West, but I'll never hate STL. Well, unless/until JD leaves to come back to the Rangers. A HOPE I WILL MAINTAIN UNTIL MY DYING DAY. But until then, anything JD is a part of will be okay with me.

Seriously, I wanted to marry him. I still would. I would be his second wife, even. OMG when I got to see him at the STL v NYR game in March I was all giddy and flushed and I am NOT A PERSON THAT GETS GIDDY AND FLUSHED. Mostly.

LOL yes, JD is John Davidson! Clearly I never saw him play for the Rangers, but I miss him SO MUCH from when he was the color commentator half of the pair (Sam Rosen being the play-by-play guy). SIGH.

Where'd the Hawks/Blues fan rivalry come from? Just same-division rivalry?

It must suck for Halak to be leaving a town that was ready to idolize him; you definitely hit the nail on the head with that one. Which is why it's so shocking. Who trades away the goalie that almost got you to the SCF? =/ Do you really think Niemi could be traded? That would be an even bigger shocker! I can't even imagine -- I think those 2 million people who came to the parade would riot!

BTW, out of curiosity, what intersection did you stand near during the parade? Did you move around? What time did you get there and how crowded was it when you got there? Did you make a parade post that I missed? I've been busy with the packing and kind of not keeping up as much. =(

I guess we'll see about Niemi. The cap is certainly going to make this off-season an interesting one. I'm more impatient to see what Glen Sather does for the Rangers; there are some changes I know all Rangers fans would like to see -- especially in regards to clearing up some cap space. UGH.

Awww the parade/rally sounds like it was AMAZING. I mean, I watched the news feeds online, so I was following it live, but I really wish I'd been there!!! \o/

I did get the package yesterday!!! I got home really late so I only had time to flip to the big poster pages and squee at my sister who blearily looked at what I was showing her despite the fact that she was already half asleep. \\o//

I'm going to put those poster pages up on my wall when I move into the new place! Along with the Kaner poster I have from the Sun-Times from that weekend I was in Chicago. My friend (who's finishing up at University of Chicago in August) and I passed one of those newspaper dispenser things and I did a double-take and was like, DO YOU HAVE QUARTERS?! OMG I NEED A KANER POSTER! HEE! \o/ That was still during the round against the Sharks, I believe.

See, got so distracted I didn't even respond to the other part of your comment. I didn't look up the Habs' cap situation, and truthfully I didn't follow their games before the end of the season, so I'm mostly unaware of how Price was playing. So I'll take your word that it makes some business sense. It's still a big shocker. The trade is going to be one of those that will be labeled as brilliant or insanely stupid; we'll see soon enough...
