Mmmm, good.

Well, I've been tres busy lately. Haven't written in my journal for far too long, I've missed it quite desperately. I had fallen into a slump with my books -- finished the ones that I had and was waiting for a new book to arrive. (Oh, and I remembered the name of the last Mercedes Lackey Elemental Mage book, it's The Serpent's Shadow.) Oh, when I was browsing through the bookstore, I took a peek at a new fantasy hardcover that just came out called Kushiel's Chosen by Jacqueline Carey. It's actually the second book in a series, the sequel to Kushiel's Dart. I read the blurb and it sounded quite interesting... so I looked for the first one and found it, read the blurb, and since it sounded very interesting to me at the moment (I think I must be in the mood for it 'cause at another time it probably wouldn't have interested me), so I reserved it at the library.

Well, yesterday the got it in and I went and picked it up. It's actually very captivating; I haven't had the time to read today (I was at work all day), but I'm ready to get right back into the story.

So now I'm in the middle of Kushiel's Dart and The Gates of Sleep (which I finally got) and when I was in Barnes & Noble earlier tonight I happened to see Isaac Adamson's new book Hokkaido Popsicle (sequel to his debut novel, Tokyo Suckerpunch). I can only describe it as odd, outlandish, baka, abstract, and absolutely hysterical! It's really hard to describe/explain the storyline (especially at 2 in the morning), but it's one of those that pulls you in and -- although you may try to resist -- keeps you turning the page.

So after that brief lull where I had nothing to read, I now have 3 books in my "to-read" pile, I'm currently in the middle of 2 out of the 3, and who knows when more will be added?!

In good news, Jean Auel's long-awaited sixth book in her series which began with Clan of the Cave Bear (called the something of Stone, or something like that) is being offered by the SFBC (that's the Science Fiction Book Club, a snail-mail club that I'm a part of, much like the Columbia House or BMG), so I'm ordering that for my mom for a Mother's Day present. She's been waiting for it for at least 5 years, probably more. I hate when authors do that, don't you?

Oh, so tonight Angelica, Liz and I were going to go to the movies, but we decided not to and ended up going to Uno's and spending the money on eating instead of watching a movie. That's when we got the Bacardi Strawberry Daquiri. I dunno why Angelica's all determined to have me buy something alcoholic on my 21st birthday (May 22nd) when she can order alcoholic drinks in restaurants (and not be carded) at will. ::shrugs::

Other good stuff: got new computer (Dell) set up in the computer room and older computer (generic IBM compatible) set up in my room, so maybe I'll pick up writing again. We'll see, eventually.
