Idiotarod 2009 was OMGWTFBBQAWESOME!!1!1eleventyone1!

Idiotarod -- NOT Iditarod -- is a shopping cart race in NYC. Teams of 5 or more members. Dress up and decorate your shopping cart in keeping with your theme. Meet up, in the freezing cold, and race across NYC.

The route was not publicized, in case of law-enforcement interaction, but we ended up walking across the 59th Street Bridge, to Long Island City, then through LIC to Greenpoint (though we stopped to eat in LIC and ditched the rest of the race).

This was amazing fun and I SO CANNOT WAIT for next year! As I said on twitter, "Idiotarod is crazy and awesome. Like a con. With booze. and shopping carts. In new york." =D Judy seems to be at least half serious when she says she's interested in participating as a team next year. And truthfully, I would NOT be opposed! Let's think of something AWESOME, guys!

They mentioned on the website that they were meeting at Socrates park in Astoria, so I got there at around 10 AM only to find out that the time was pushed back and the location changed? Something like that? I really wanted to see it! ;_;

AWWW, I wish you had called me!!! It was awesome! Yeah, I think they didn't want to have it be too big because of the possibility of police getting involved. If you register you get updated info. WE SHOULD DO NEXT YEAR! =D
