If you remember, earlier in the year we went to the Queer as Folk cast signing at the Tower Records at Lincoln Square. And I got 2 CDs signed by Gale Harold (Brian), Randy Harrison (Justin), and Hal Sparks (Michael). Well, I finally got off my lazy ass and put it up for auction on ebay. I put a buy now price of $60 'cause that's what Angelica did, but someone bid without the buy now. Then OMG, a few people were fighting over it and for a while it was $59.00, but then someone bid more and it was up to $74, and then yesterday (with about a day left) it was at $103.50. I didn't expect it to go higher; my eyes were already bugged out at the price. (I'd never pay that much for it. Not that I don't love the guys, but… $100 for a signed CD? Well, even though I'd never do it, I guess I understand… if it was a signed Koyasu CD, or a signed Buck-Tick CD, or Hayami Sho, I guess I'd be the same way. But it didn't stop there. I checked the auction again with 2 hours left and it was still $103.50. But then I saw the closing price 2 hours later. It just sold for $155. People are crazy, I swear!!!
So, I had been planning on possibly keeping the second signed CD for myself, but since it went up so high and I don't have a particularly strong attachment to it, I offered it to the next highest bidder. $_$ Ka-ching!
I swear, going to that signing was one of the smartest things I've done in my life! It's too bad, though, that I didn't have a poster. If I had gotten a poster signed I would have kept it. Probably.

Book of the Moment:
The Two Towers (book II of LOTR) by J.R.R. Tolkien (F)
brief SPOILER!
Much more action than the previous one, and more interesting, too. It's not a I-have-to-finish-this-awesome-book-in-one-sitting read, but it certainly isn't as difficult to get back into as the first one. I was having fun reading about what was happening with the rest of the company (Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, then Merry and Pippin) while Frodo and Sam where who-knew-where. (Oh, and I finally was able to understand why there are so many LegolasxGimli - and vice versa - slash fics.) Well, after they left Lothlorien, their relationship was a bit closer, but it's nothing big. But then during a battle where they were fighting in Helm's Deep they were in competition for who had the most Orc kills. It was really cute and adorable, and showed their now-playful relationship. So anyway I'm now back with Sam and Frodo (who we haven't heard from since the end of the last book), and of course with Gollum following close behind. And now is when the foreshadowing behind Gandalf's words come to bear. (I'm pretty sure it was Gandalf; it was him in the movie, anyway, just in a different spot.) You know, the ones about how he suspects Gollum will have a role to play in their quest. In any case, I'm enjoying the second book very much and hope the movie (and the third book, as well) are as good if not better!
