The new Buck-Tick album arrived yesterday at my house! Got home at 10pm, and didn't actually get a chance to burn it and copy it onto my mp3 player until around 3:30am. T_T But I did it so I would be able to listen to it on the train this morning, and at whatever opportunities over the weekend. I only listened to the album once through and I know that there are a couple of songs I slept through on the train (not suprising, considering that I had only 3 hours of sleep, yay), but oddly enough I have a good idea of what I think about a good portion of the songs.
I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY LOVE the first track, Mr. Darkness & Mrs. Moonlight. In my opinion, the album goes downhill from there. There are, of course, other good songs, but this one is really what I'd like to hear more of by them. I love the style, I love Atsushi's voice, it's pretty darn perfect. Even then, taken in context of the whole album (because that's how I listen to most music, as a whole album), it's still on the lighter side of what I'd really like to hear, but I know that this song is going to be one I won't get tired of hearing over and over; it won't ever bore me.
Other songs I enjoyed were モンタージュ, Beast, スパイダー, Alice in Wonder Underground, Revolver. I definitely have to listen to CREAM SODA again because I slept through parts of it. I could tell that it was an interesting song, though it may be that the style alternates a little too much for my preference.
Darker Than Darkness is not an album I've actually listened to all that much in comparison to certain other albums, so I find it hard to make comparisons, but I could hear a little bit of Six/Nine in that first track, and a mix of Sexy Stream Liner and Kyokutou I LOVE YOU in another track which I can't quite remember right now.
Overall, I'm pleased with the album. It's not going to replace any of my top 3 (Six/Nine, Kurutta Taiyou, Sexy Stream Liner), but it'll probably hover around with my next favorites (OLOD, MLO, Cosmos, Taboo).
There were lots of other things I wanted to talk about, but the album has been on my mind since this morning, so the other things will have to wait. I have to remember to write something about my new job. ^^;
