osaraba: (twice the fun|inuvampy)
I was just talking with Maryann, and it's really all coming together. This is how our tentative plan will work out:

  1. Angelica comes over in the morning to help Liz cut out fabric/make accessories for the costumes.
  2. Maryann comes over to meet me so that we can go pick up the U-Haul cargo van (about 2 miles away from my house) by around 9:45am.
  3. Start heading toward Maryann's house by 10:15am, so that we can get there by 10:45am.
  4. Leave Maryann's house by 10:45am (via mass transit) so that we can get to the Grand Central area at 11:30am to meet with Victor (who'll have his car 4x4).
  5. Direct Victor to get back to Maryann's house.
  6. Load up Maryann's stuff.
  7. Drive over to my house.
  8. Unload stuff.

Since the next day will be the injecting-the-walls day, I'm probably going to ask Maryann, Victor and Angelica to help me and Liz move her bed away from the wall because it's a big, wooden, heavy queen-size thing that needs some serious muscle to move. ^^ Convenient how that worked out, huh?

I also just talked to Angelica who said that she thought of having a little drinking party on Friday night ~ sort of to christen Maryann's moving in and stuff (and just as an excuse to drink booze, lol). So everyone's invited, but several things of note: (1) It will be at my house in Queens. (2) There won't be that much room 'cause my room is filled with boxes from the ex-garage. (3) I don't know if I can drive anyone home, so don't count on it. Although if I can, and I'm not drunk, I will. (4) You can sleep over if you want, but it might consist of floor space or shared bed space.

Even better~! Maybe we can combine this drinking party with my Izzard-watching idea. Watching Izzard while drunk is bound to be hysterically funny! Ooooh, I can't wait~!!!

Although I am mostly relieved to go, I did enjoy my exchanges with some of the people here. Sadie Garcia, gossip extraordinaire, also has a dry sense of humor as well as a somewhat pessimistic/disbelieving outlook on life; she reminds me of myself in certain ways. I'd never tell her anything I didn't want to get around, but other than that she's a good contact to have.

I enjoyed working with Melinda Nieva, who was standing in for Cecilia (the HR person) who was on leave most of the time that I was here. She's a very kind retiree, whom I could sympathize with, because she knew as little as I did about how certain things were run.

Frank Pinto, my boss who "likes to laugh". He was tickled that I enjoyed his jokes as much as he did. Well, I have to say that he's a refreshing change from most in this place whose senses of humor were filed away a long time ago. I was not able to relax around him (like Sadie or Melinda) because he's the boss (not just mine, but the boss of the division), so I can't say that I'll miss working for him, but I'll certainly miss his sense of humor.

The maintenance guy, Jose, who happened to be up here again today so I got a chance to tell him that it was my last day today. He asked me where I was going, so I had the perfect opportunity to mention the location of my new place of employment. *winks*

[edit: Frank just gave me a memento for working at GEF -- a brochure from the 2004 Biodiversity Convention, along with its special-print envelope and the first press stamps, released on the day of the convention, and stamped in Malaysia, where the convention was held. Although it isn't the greatest gift, it's actually a very nice, and appropriate, memento of my time at GEF.]
