So the car’s been resurrected. Apparently it was a broken fuel pump. When I got home yesterday, the car was in the driveway. (It’s so weird to say that – I guess every so often, I realize I’m not quite accustomed to living in a private house after all.)

I forgot to mention in one of my previous posts about SDK that Hayami Sho plays the bad guy, Nobunaga! Kyaaa! He’s all deep-voiced and stuff – he sounds really good, but it’s even more of a relief to know he’s still doing stuff – I haven’t seen him in much lately. Then again, it’s not a surprise to find out that when he does resurface, he chooses something that has both Koyasu-sama and Toshihiko-san in it. That’s just like him.

I’ve recently started watching Witch Hunter Robin. It’s pretty good so far, but I’m only at the beginning of the third episode, so I’m going to withhold judgement until I’m further in. I do like the art, though. It’s somehow vaguely like a cross between the Rurouni Kenshin OVA art and Noir art. And yet, not exactly that either; it’s also vaguely reminiscent of Spriggan art, but definitely not that bad or weird. It’s intriguing. And I will have to agree with Angelica that the music is good. I love the first few seconds of the opening – it sounds all grungy! Too bad the rest of the song isn’t, but it’s still a good song for all that. And I do love the characters’ outfits – all black and dark and trenchy. Robinn wears a long black dress with a high collar, and long sleeves – very similar to Mana’s from Shiroi - very cosplayable. Of course, I’d have to see a bit more to decide that I’d want to cosplay her, but the possibility is definitely there…

We have yet another “new girl” at work. Her name is Amirha, and while she actually seems intelligent (unlike some we’ve had), I don‘t think she’ll last long because she’s going to be going to school in January, and basically our bosses need someone full-time for weekdays, not another part-time student. But anyway, yesterday I came into work wearing my Metallica sweatshirt and she actually said she liked them. I was completely shocked. First of all, she’s black. Frankly, most of the black people I know – especially from Brooklyn – hate (or at the least, dislike) alt/rock/metal. Second, no one else who’s worked here has ever liked the same music I do. (And that sort of includes Angelica because it took her years to get so used to my music that she’s convinced herself that she actually likes it.)

But to test that it wasn’t just a fluke, I asked her who else she liked and she replied that it depended on her mood. And I thought, “Aha!” But then she said the right now she’s really into Nine Inch Nails and TOOL. I wonder if my eyes bugged out. Really. ‘Cause those three (including Metallica) are my three favorite bands. Weird. I told her so. Basically, my only other real absolute favorite is Buck-Tick, but they’re in another category altogether – J-rock.

Another big surprise – she’s actually not clueless about anime! Granted, she’s only seend dubs, and sort of the weird/mainstream ones at that (like KITE)… oh, and the porn. But hey, at least she knows what the hell anime is. Although I doubt she’ll ever really watch anything but the weird movies (Ghost in the Shell, Blood, Spriggan, etc.), which is really too bad because they all give the wrong impression about anime when that’s all you know.

I’m tired. I shouldn’t have stayed up til 2 watching VH1’s “I Love the 80s” special, but I couldn’t possibly have resisted. After all, I love the 80s. They showed 1980 and 1981 last night. ’82 and ’83 are tonight. Can’t wait.

In other news, apparently Anime Castle has opened their warehouse in NYC to the public, so Angelica and I were going to go tomorrow. But I might have to pick up my father from work tomorrow, so I hope we can go today instead – there’s a new Duo/Deathscythe shirt we want to get. It’s so kakkoii! I’ll put up a link to it later!

At 10:55 this morning, Amirha (the "new girl") called to leave a message for the bosses: she received another job offer that was better for her and had accepted. ...and there goes another one.

At 11:05 this morning, the bosses came in and I broke the news. They weren't surprised. So it's back to just the four of us. That just means more hours (and more money) for us. No problem! Of course, come February they're going to need someone again.

Other disappointing news: you won't believe this! Angelica and I got back into Queens around 2pm this afternoon, we stopped at the post office and ate at Wendy's. Then we stopped by her house to drop something off and pick something up, then we stopped by my house to do the same.

So we finally got to the Q20A bus stop at 4pm to wait for the bus that would take us to Anime Castle's warehouse. Our bus didn't come until 4:30. We got on and (luckily) got a few seats, because at the next stop 500 million people got on and there were no seats left. Around 15 minutes later, we got to the intersection of Main Street and Kissena Blvd. It's a horribly busy intersection, where about 10 (or more) different buslines sort of intersect. Of course, it was this day, at this time, that a water main break occurred and a man-hole cover decided to explode. So what would normally be about a half-hour ride took about an hour and twenty minutes! The warehouse was supposed to close at 6pm and there we were still on the bus (although finally moving) at 5:30pm! I think we got to the warehouse (after walking about 6 blocks in the cold) at 5:55!

And after all that... they didn't have the freaking shirts we went there specifically to buy! And they said they didn't know when they'd get more in stock! ::bangs head against brick wall::

What a waste!

So I bought a Chobits' Sumomo plushie to make up for it. It was just too adorable! ^_~ She's going on my wall underneath my Yuki and Kyou (from Fruit Basket) plushies.

Can you believe all that rushing around, and worrying that we wouldn't make it, for nothing?! And it would be different if the website indicated that there were no T-shirts in stock, but we hadn't checked -- but the site doesn't indicate that! It's sooooo unfair!

The only thing that brightened my day (besides the Sumomo plushie) was that I, too, received a Christmas card from Sharon! わいわいわい~! Wow, it was completely unexpected, and soooo sweet! (Thank you, Sharon!)
