I took the opportunity of the 3-day weekend to get some anime-watching done. I think I really dislike watching in fits and starts, so I tend to put everything off until I have a lot and then go on an anime-watching marathon. Of course, there are exceptions, like when I'm really, really into something (read: Fruit Basket), and I'll watch it whenever I can get my hands on the next volume.

Angelica gets pissed at me because of this. She keeps telling me to watch something 'cause it's really good, and she wants to be able to talk to me about it, etc. But I have to be in the right mood to watch certain things. I mean, I don't watch anime just for anime's sake. I watch it because I like it, because I think the acting -- in comparison with that of the US -- is on a higher level, emotionally, and because the stories -- especially in comparison with the formulated sitcom of the US -- is on a much higher level all around. Of course, there are exceptions to this, too. But -- and I'm not ashamed to admit it -- I'm descriminating.

So, can I help it if I'm not in the mood for Excel Saga or Full Metal Panic right now? Sorry. I'm caught in the hooks of Hikaru no Go and Kodomo no Omocha at the moment.

I had a long post, but just as I finished it, my browser closed and I lost all of it. Grrrrr! So this is as best a recreation I could come up with. ::sigh::

Beware of (small) SPOILERS!

I spent all of Monday watching the rest of X TV. From episode 16 through the end (episode 24). Boy, it was good. I was pleased with how long Sorata and Arashi lasted (in comparison with the movie, anyway). But then again, that's relative 'cause the movie was complete within 45 minutes. o.O* I was a little disappointed with the lack of interaction between Fuuma and Kamui, but overall it was done really well for a 24-episode anime.

I knew what the end would be before it came, though I haven't read the manga so I don't know if it stuck to the story or not. But any big reader of fantasy could have predicted the end. It was so kirei of Kamui to care enough for Fuuma, for Kotori, and for the Ten no Ryu, to give up his life in order to save them all. It's so unselfish and giving. I'm too much of a cynic to admire it in real life (not to mention, it's so completely opposite from me), but… in stories, it really is a tear-jerker.

I spent most of Sunday watching 18 episodes of Hikaru no Go. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did! Sai - for some reason - really reminds me of Count D. He's not as elegant or reserved as Count D, but I suppose, if you could imagine a really genki Count D, that would be Sai… although he does have his moments of profundity, and you can't help but love him. Hikaru is, on the other hand, a typical kid - sometimes baka, sometimes sweet.

It's on the nice side of shounen. ^
