In more mundane news...
Sep. 14th, 2001 11:01 pm...I finally finished Trigun. It was good, but, um.... disappointing. Does anyone else feel this way? (Don't worry -- I'm not giving away any spoilers.) I'm left feeling as if I've been hit by a big question mark. I'm not exactly completely confused by the end, but I'm certainly not satisfied by it either. I feel like I just watched Shinseiki Evangelion all over again, except with a sci-fi/Western twist. o.O* Weird.
Anyway, I finally had a chance to go get blank tapes today! Since Tuesday, I've pretty much been holed up here in Queens. Tuesday: Angelica's house; Wednesday: Angelica's house, the mall, my house; Thursday: didn't even emerge into the daylight. But on Fridays I work all day (from 8 am to 7:30 pm). But I just didn't feel like working today. (Bad of me, yes, I know.) So I made an excuse to my boss (Fay) when she came in around noon, so kindly provided by Angelica: that my mom wanted me to pick up my sister from school and take her home. It's a really good excuse. How could Fay possibly protest that? Especially after all that's happened here in the past few days.
So, I left at 2. It was very nice. I got a few hours of work in, so my paycheck next Friday won't be bare bones, but I also got to leave early and not die slowly from the torture Fay puts me through by just being there. I swear, I don't want to get started on a rant about her. I could go on forever, stupid hypocritical bitch that she is. Maybe another time I will.
But at the moment, I was speaking about busting out at 2:00. Met Angelica & Yoshi (oh, and James, too)... we went down to Chinatown to see if the place that sells TDK VHS tapes in bulk was open. The cutoff for the police barricades into the downtown/WTC area is actually Canal Street, which is basically the backbone of Chinatown. Chinatown stretches out on both sides of Canal Street. Of course, the places we usually go are on the south side of Canal Street (see, Angelica -- I didn't capitalize the "S" in south), so there was no way for us to get to those places. Not that they'd be open. It would be a huge waste of money if they did. Luckily, the place that sells the bulk VHS tapes is actually on Canal Street. So if it was open, I'd have no problem going in. Unfortunately, it was closed. Bastards.
But anyway, earlier in the day I was talking with two people who also work in one of the stores in Grand Central Station, and one of them suggested going to a wholesale store around 27th between 6th & 7th avenues (although it turned out to be between 6th & what is it? Broadway, I think). Anyway, so we ended up going to the wholesale place and I got those TDK VHS tapes even cheaper than at Chinatown. Which is great.
So I was happy.
Then we went up to Times Square to go to one of the arcades there. We were starving so we ate first. Then walked over to 47th to the arcade. Played DDR for a while (they're more expensive there than at Chinatown, although you do get one more round for that extra dollar). Played air hockey, which was cool-- haven't played air hockey in quite a while, uh... at least 5 years! (Wow! Hadn't realized it had been that long!) I dunno why, but I was tired... from walking around? Prolly not. I've walked a lot more than that & been fine... whatever.
Still... finally took the train home. By that time it was around 6:30. Got home around 7:45. Not bad. Not bad at all.
All in all, a satisfying day. Now I have to go because Angelica's going to read Jean's WK fic "Dysfunctional" to me... chapters 34 to 39, I think?
Duo's quite looking forward to this, even if I am a little uncertain.
Oyasumi nasai.
