Onna! was cool! I had fun, but it was a slightly weird con. They had a lot of attendees, much more than Yuricon had; I think the final headcount is around 700. And yet, I think I enjoyed Yuricon more. Probably because I was running around being on staff, and having responsibilities and fun and crises and stuff like that. I volunteered at Onna!, but it just wasn't the same.

Not to mention that I had to go back to NYC on Sunday to work. So that was kind of weird. I thought I missed a lot, but Angelica says I didn't really.

I did get to see stuff this time, though. But it was all live action! LOLOL! How funny is that?

Kimi wa Petto live action was good, but I still prefer the manga to the TV series. I'd be interested in seeing it animated. I wonder if it's because of the medium -- with live action it is harder for me to do that whole "suspension of disbelief" thing. I dunno. It's not that way for like, the Sailor Moon Live Action; maybe because they're all dressed up in outfits, and it's kind of like cosplay. Who knows.

Liz and Angelica saw Sailor Moon live action, Aim for the Ace live action. Angelica and I saw a little of the end of the Takarazuka (Japan's all-female) troupe's Rose of Versailles musical. It was pretty funny and, of course, dramatic.

When I made the room reservations I only made reservations for Friday and Saturday nights, thinking I'd have to work on Monday. And then I totally forgot about it. Of course, the hotel wouldn't let me resreve another night at the con rate, so we all had to schelp home on Sunday night. It wasn't really all that bad. Juliet and Liz both stayed home on Monday 'cause they both had schoolwork to do. Jerry stayed home as well. Will was going to go back with us, but overslept on Monday morning, so he ended up staying home. Angelica and I left Queens at around 8am to get there early. We took another turn around the Dealer's Room (at which I spent a total of $22 the whole weekend!), watched that Takarazuka musical, then we just sat and watched Legend of Duo on Angelica's laptop in the lobby.

It was interesting. I liked it, and the art was cool. I was unable to watch it without comparing it to both GW (it should be obvious why), and Night Walker. Sharon, I know you really enjoyed this anime, and I'd like to hear what caught you. I enjoyed it, but I'm still slightly confused maybe frustrated is a better word, by its open-ended and unenlightening ending. It's also possible that since I was very tired on Monday, it was just too much for me to take in. ^_~;; In ADDITION, Angelica didn't realize her playlist was on SHUFFLE, so we saw the first and last episodes (go figure!) back-to-back!!! x_x;

Oh, but the con was cool and of course, I just love working for Erica. I'm not going to go into some of the irritating staff at the Registration desk where I was, but Leann (whom I'd worked with at the Reg desk for Yuricon, too) was cool. She's so sweet. And it was fun running into [livejournal.com profile] devilkitty0 and so many other people I know from the East Coast area -- of course, Chris, Carrie, Tom, Sean Kelly & Megan, Sailor Moon Bitch, Jim! I saw Jim! The guy from Yuricon whose pocket knife I still have and who got locked in the bathroom at like 2am! That was cool, I should have taken a picture of him! Poo. But we exchanged emails and phone numbers, so if/when he's in the city, I told him to give me a call and I'd get him back his pocket knife. Which I should really go find!

I wouldn't say I loved The Legend of Duo, but I did like it. I thought the whole deal of releasing it in five-minute segments was pretty neat. It always made me wish there was more to it. I liked the story, too, with Zeig chasing after Duo. Personally, I think it was pretty slashy. The art wasn't bad. It did feel a bit more like a moving manga than an anime, but I was okay with that.

I keep wondering if they'll continue it at some point. I wouldn't mind seeing more. ^_~

I am so jealous I wish I was there. Yay for Sailor Moon bitch. How was the dealers room? Was there one to begin with?
The other day I found the original Moonlight Stick (anime version) right here in sayama for about 2,500 yen, you want it?
As for live action stuff after getting into Sailor Moon Live Action I started watching a bunch of the Japanese ranger series, Cutie Honey the movie and many others. It is harder to suspend belief but easier to pretend you are there as well. See you in 2 months!
