With everyone "coming out" about Solacium, I feel all caught up in the excitement. Even though I've never even heard of it until now. I guess this is what I get for not being on LJ for long, long periods of time. What I would've given to have known about this... GW is really the only fandom for which I actually read fics (even if they're few and far between nowadays). But, well-written, mature characters (as I know most of the hosts would play them that way) is so very hard to find. I know that I like how ponderosa121, suzume_sparrow, windsor_blue, blue_soaring and dc_logan write. Of course, none of them play ♥Duo♥... but from the snippet I've seen, it seems like shdlm writes Duo the way I like him. ^^

I'm not sure how Solacium came about -- or for how long it's been running, but I would now really like to go and see what I've been missing.

It ran for about two and a half years, we were pretty quiet about it; it felt weird over-advertising, so it's not surprising you didn't know. Honestly, I did't expect anywhere near the response we got to our shutting down. I didn't think people followed it quite as much as they did.

All of our journals are still up to backread if you want, and the website has fics and cleaned up aim dialogues to read. It'd kind of lack something that way though, I think.

Bleh. I was kind of blank on the whole shutting down thing yesterday, but today I'm all depressed and sad.

Those guys were really great. I highly recommend going back and reading them from the beginning. You'll love the universe they created. You'll find intelligent writing and good characterizations for every character. ♥

I'd also suggest, if you like reading AUs, that you read AJU. Heero and Duo (along with all the other characters) are college students. Heero and Duo have just started a relationship with each other. The RPG hasn't been around as long as Solacium, but it's still active. The main comm is aju_scenes. *resists urge to fangirl*

*hugs* Don't feel sad. It was a wonderful thing, and it brought a lot of happiness to people. It's hard to keep something like that going forever. We're all grateful that it lasted as long as it did.

There are other good GW RPG Ljs out there too. (Alphabet soup!)

There's heero_01_yuy and duo_02_maxwell that I enjoyed, though they haven't been active in a while. And then there's the two who started it all, duoneko and duonekophile and their buds, wu_manchu and invader_zechs and their respective manageries. They're somewhat active. ^_^

shdlm was an awesome Duo - very sharp and witty, and with her scientific background she was able to talk technical and still sound coherent (whereas the rest of us were more like "uh...the thingy attaches to the doohickey, yeah?").

If you do decide to go back through the journals, I hope you enjoy them! ^__^

I remember. =D I figured that had something to do with it. I guess I actually have Solacium to thank, then, for meeting you guys! It was fortunate we decided to cosplay J & G that year. LOLOL. ^_~;

I adore AUs. It's one of the (many) reasons the only fandom I've stuck with is GW. I've never found such a range of AUs (and I'm talking about AUs within the universe -- as paradoxical as that seems, as well as AUs that are utterly outside of the GW story) in any other fandom. It's the only thing that slakes my thirst. LOL.

I think I will go through them, and I'm sure I'll enjoy them. And don't be surprised if you get a few comments once in a while about stuff you'd written/RP'd months and months ago. =D
