The person that I sold my extra copy of 13kai wa Gekkou emailed me that she got it, but was surprised by it because she didn't think it sounded like them. I emailed her back because if you prompt me at all about Buck-Tick, I'm going to write you back with a novel. ^^
So here's her email to me, and my response, just cause I love to hear myself talk about music in general and

Hello,
I got the CD today. I was really surprised by it. It
just doesn't seem like the guys. I think it is the new
music they are picking for the songs. It just doesn't
fit the band, well not to me anyway.
Thanks for throwing in the postcards. I'm guessing you
kept Atsushi? I'm not complaining, because I wasn't
expecting you to send the cards too. Do you have a
copy that I could see? I'm curious to see what Atsushi
looks like.
Thanks,
CC,
Yes, it is quite different than their more recent stuff. And when I first heard it, I liked it, but wasn't really able to get into it (as I was in the mood for something harder and have been since then). But I actually started listening to it this morning on the way to work, and I guess it fits my mood a little better right now because I felt I could appreciate it a bit more than I could initially.
Have you heard all of their stuff (including from way back when in the 80s)? It's slightly more similar to that than their albums since the late 90s. This is a link to an LJ post that I made just after I came back from seeing them in April, and the first link is friends-locked in the community (you have to be signed into LJ to view it), but the last link is not -- it's a theory by two of the people on the BT community about the theme of this latest album. =)
The thing I've noticed about BT is that it's so hard to put them into one category of music (aside from "J-rock"). I can usually categorize each album individually as being something in particular -- "industrial" (97BT99/SSL) or "goth-rock" (13kai) or "ambient/tranceish rock" (Six/Nine) or "slightly punkish rock" (Taboo) -- but I've never been able to put their general sound into something specific.
How did you find out about/get into BT? If you don't know what Atsushi looks like, am I right to assume you're relatively new to the band?
I'll scan the postcard when I get home, and upload it for you to see. I have the album at home (and the complete set of postcards), but I'd bought an extra copy while in Japan, and my friend made me promise to give her the Atsushi post card. ^^
Actually, you can go to my website, http://bucktick.koyasunomiko.com to see a few pics of the band. On the main page, Atsushi is 2nd from the right. On the lyrics page, he's kneeling in the middle. On the requests page, he's on the left. I'll still upload the postcard pic of Atsushi, though.
(As you can probably tell, I *love* talking about BT, so if it's too much info, just let me know. LOL.)

Date: 2005-06-24 06:50 pm (UTC)I think the only album I don't really like as much as their others is OLOD-- I remember thinking how AWFUL the cover was when it came out hahaha. But I really love Saibougu Dori, Megami, Sapphire, and Flame, so it's impossible to say I don't like it XD. Although of all their works I listen to Seventh Heaven the least...its on cassette. XD

Date: 2005-06-24 07:17 pm (UTC)I just don't listen to the early ones as much as the more recent ones, in general. But of the albums, say Kurutta Taiyou (1991) and later, the ones I listen to least are COSMOS and Kyokutou I LOVE YOU. I do like songs from both of the albums, but Kyokutou is just generally too light for me (although I *love* LONG DISTANCE CALL), and I dunno about COSMOS, I just never think to listen to it. I think I get frustrated every time I hear the song "cosmos" because I just *die* over that a capella version from SweetStrangeLiveFilm and I *only* want to hear that version, LOL.
