It took pulling some fucking big teeth, but my mom agreed to let Liz go to the Summer Sanitarium concert under the general admission ticket (that's the seating area on the actual field of Giants Stadium, not in the stands, $87) rather than the reserved seating (in the stands, $77). Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday at 3pm, but tickets are on sale as of yesterday (Thursday, March 13) to members of the Metallica Club, which Liz is part of. So I'm going to order the tickets tomorrow morning, yay!
I asked Angelica if she wanted to come, but she basically can't afford $87 for a band she only sorta likes. So it's just me and Liz. I'd love for someone else to come, but don't know who can afford it and would like to go with us. The only way I can afford to pay for both my ticket and Liz's, is Angelica so kindly offered to give me $50 as my really early birthday gift toward the tickets. I'm really counting on that. Then it'll only be about $140 that I'm in the hole, instead of $190. Joy.
I'm really looking forward to this concert, and I really hope that the album (which comes out June... 10th, I think) justifies the money I'm spending on these tickets. ^^ But then again, it's Metallica, so it'd be justified anyway. (I wish Buck-Tick would tour the US... but that's just a pipe dream.)

Date: 2003-03-14 07:36 pm (UTC)$40?! I wish the tickets were $40 now! You know, with the "convenience fee" and shipping charge, the tickets came out to $197.40 for two. In effect, $100 each! Meanwhile, I'm trying to save for the damn cons I have scheduled.... ::humph::
As for the new album, I've heard that it's more thrashy/a return to their old stuff, but who knows? I'll most certainly be getting the album when it comes out, so I'm sure I could upload a few songs if you'd like to test them out. ^^ But that's not for a while yet.

Date: 2003-03-15 12:27 am (UTC)I have a feeling they're going to be played to death when the new release is out. Our local rock station is pretty hot on Metallica. *grin* It'll be nice for me if they do get more thrashy on the new release. I liked them best when they were more of a speed metal band.
